hmm.. Slashdot seems to trap archive.org and change it to yro.slashdot.org/archive.org (which 404s). Perhaps to prevent goatse archives? Let's try www.archive.org
Who knows, maybe some Third World dictator will find that using "Beefsteak w/Mushrooms" on the population will work much better than shooting or rolling over them with "MRE"s? Better to have them happy, productive and fed than unhappy, revolting and dead. It could work!
And I am Marie of Romania...
More likely, they just use RFID tags on the population. (Maybe they'll use surplus ones? "Halt! You are, *beep*, Mr. Nike Hightop?")
.. would take care of Tauzin.
Tauzin? He's just a Renfrew. I'm talking about Vampire Jack V. himself. You don't think he's really going to let go and slink away, do you?
Back in the day? I'm wire-wrapping a V20 (8088+) from junkbox parts. It's knitting for geeks, and I've always wanted to build a system up from the ground. Not that I haven't before, but this will be the first with hard drives and TCP/IP. It makes a nice break from programming way up on top of a huge pile of drivers, libraries, OS, endless junk that I don't know what it's doing and can't control.
I might use the Ethernet module that they used. It seems a clean little unit.
Indeed. Starting from scratch with a minimum system is a good way to learn TCP/IP inside-out. Anyone can push data with a hot processor and a fat pipe, the trick is to do it without those.
But the Outlook worm designed to do this isn't scheduled until next week. There's no way to move it up, there are too many other releases in the pipeline.
What happened if you installed Win95 witn pen support, then upgraded to Win98?
I received a surprise when someone actually wanted me to send a fax. After hunting around the Win98 install (whatthefsck, it used to work...?), I finally noticed a text note saying to install junk from Win95. Hurm, I had the impression that MS added faxing to Windows just to kill WinFax, and then they dropped it?
They're surprised that Microsoft is waffling on a platform? 10 years ago Pen Windows was the latest greatest coming thing for tablets and was going to be real big any moment now. Microsoft's attention span didn't last very long when the market didn't happen. Microsoft waffled on PDAs too until that market picked up.
As for the price of licencing Pen, er, Tablet Windows, perhaps they should look around for alternatives? (Say, what ever happen to GRiD anyway?)
Sounds like sour grapes: "Wah, Microsoft isn't pushing our market enough! And they put a gun to our heads to make us use Windows!" Sell enough computers for Microsoft to care guys.
I doubt that they even were are largest online advertiser. Al Ralsky and other spammers were probably "larger". X10 may claim that they made more money and that they were legit. Hurmph, if it was real money, where is it now? And as for legit, everyone who attempts to jam my sense orifices with advertising claims to be legit, or at least not definitely illegal.
Didn't X10 flirt with actual spam at one point? No wonder spammer Rule #4 seems to suit them so well.
I care! Soon I'll be able to remove a few entries from my hosts file that point x10 related stuff to 0.0.0.0 (127.0.0.1 tries localhost before failing.)
I've organized my sock-drawer, I've got most of my video tapes in the database, now I can weed out old entries in hosts! Whoohoo, life is fast-paced!
I can certainly see obeying robots.txt settings when crawling the current site, but why go and apply it to pages downloaded years ago?
They retro-censor themselves? There's probably good legal reasons for it, but on first pass, that's fscked!
And I left it off the www.archive.org one too.

Wouldn't the wayback machine already have it for a few years of changes? (Yeah, I'm too lazy to look. It's not my White House.)
Pass the popcorn?

Wait .. everything we know about vampires is from Hollywood movies .. we are so screwed!
The attitude "The computer said so, so it must be right" is always amusing to the people who program them.

Mace? But everyone knows that Gary Gygax is a polearm freak. Maybe a +1 Glave-glissarm-volge?

Deep-fried Deep-One on special down at Captain Marsh's? There are some things man was not meant to eat...

If they don't have a foot to stand on, then they're sitting in their crap, right?
So what is the Hydrogenaudio equivalent of goatse posters? (Or should I ask?)
Wow, 15 registered users!
A beowulf cluster of Young Einsteins would certainly find a lot more uses for beer.
Now all we need to do is have some band like Enturbulator 009 to stick it to Diebold in music as was done for Co$'s avagrams.
