> Ever buy a print at the store? A reproduction of a work is a copyrightable work in of itself.
My ex-girlfriend tried to use the photo-maker at the drug store with her school photo, but they made her leave the store. Apparently copying a picture of yourself is illegal.
If that were me I would have made a big scene. Either that or yelled "he's got a gun" and run away really quickly:)
I'm doing it now. Hopefully everyone on slashdot will be kind enough to leave them a message telling them how DUMB they are.
Also, I think I will request that they research stuff for me and then refuse to pay them. Next, I'll take all their pictures and publish a book containing them. They won't be getting a free copy, either. Lastly, I'll find a historical inacuracy or spelling error and not report it. Ha! Take that!
Oh, and I'll complain about them on slashdot and NOT by emailing them. I feel evil now.
(In all seriousness, their legal agreement makes me want to kick everyone involved repeatadly, until they're bleeding profusely. Actually, I think I want to burn all their beloved images. Then they'll wish they hadn't been such nazis about it. Sorry about all the violence. Things like this make me really mad. Really, really mad. Anyone else agree?)
Well $DIETY might want you to wait. And if you make $DIETY mad, you might face serious consequences after you die. So you may as well wait.
I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I don't feel like taking any chances. Also, I don't really want to date a girl who wants me only for sex. Talk about two-way street!
He's right. Having a girlfriend is enough for me; I don't need any presents! Love is the best present anyone can give or receive (that and 8 processor Opteron workstations, for the receiver anyway)
You could probably say the same thing about the clocks that sync with the atomic clock. Are you so important that you need to know EXACTLY what time it is?
Also, I don't really need to know anything the gkrellm tells me. Temps? What difference does it make? Load average? Who cares?
I like to look, though, because it's interesting. Even though I can't change something, I still want to know about it.
The output of that command made me think. What if the next virus DDoS's [A-M].ROOT-SERVERS.NET. Shouldn't be too hard, and could have really bad consequences. Hmm..
> The person who wrote the worm is not very good anyways
Why is it so hard to write good viruses? Don't the virus authors test their software? (I'm serious here. We need a really devistating Windows virus that takes out half the internet so that people realize that Windows needs to go away. I especially liked the one that mailed random files on the user's hard drive to people. Kinda makes your day when your boss mails you kiddie porn and copies of the anarchist's cookbook. He's gone. All thanks to windows(*))
* If you have kiddie porn**, you probably deserve to get caught, though. If you're doing something illegal, however, maybe you should use an encrypted loopback filesystem. Does Windows have that?
** Not that I think the governement should tell you what files you can and can't have. If you're 18 and your 16 year old girlfriend gave you her pr0n pictures, then maybe you aren't a criminal. Anyway, WAY off topic.:)
I actually posted a comment to this effect in another thread (and got modded to -1 for some reason, oh well). Why NOT Ogg? It's free for them, free for me, and works under every OS. If they think M$ is good, then Ogg is 100 times better, IMO. Then again, maybe they don't want people saving the stream or something?
Oh well, enough of Car Talk, I guess. At least RealPlayer worked... I can't get it to work in MPlayer OR gxine. Anyone have some pointers?
Umm, why are you selling a document and charging shipping? If you really want to charge for it (and for something you did in 20 minutes, you shouldn't) you should at least email it to the "winner". Auction? For something that has infinite quantity? That doesn't make sense to me.
Just post the bugger on your website. Selling 20 minutes worth of writing is a joke.
Heh, have you ever read Volume 1 of TAOCS (The Art of Computer Science) by Knuth? He jokingly adds a problem to the first section of the book that says "Prove that x^n + y^n = z^n has no real zeros for n>2." That was a joke in 1968. Now we _do_ have a proof for that! So math does change. But undergraduate math? Mostly no:)
Anyway, I guess you could write your own book (maybe I'll do this sometime...). It's the problems that are hard to come up with, not telling people that (d/dx) x^n = nx^(x-1).
links and lynx are two different browsers.

Also, don't email pictures@cprr.org with goatse and tubgirl. Actually, do that.

Actually, if you pick some reasonable numbers, the answer comes out to... 1. That must be us.
That, BTW, is from a good book called "Yes, we have no neutrons". The relevent section begins on page 63 or so.
Please show me where you can get 1G of PC3200 for $100!!!!

Is that "Double Data Rate" or "Dance Dance Revolution"?

You can't read the second page of the article like that, though. How can I RTFA?

Years of research went into Computer Modern for TeX. It's probably the most beautiful and readable font available. Not surprisingly, it's Free, too :)
:)
And if you look hard there are TT* versions.
* TrueType AND Teletype
Why not computer modern, then? If you've ever read a document written in Computer Modern, you won't be using anything else anytime soon :)
I don't think people even bother to read LaTeX'd documents, they're so beautiful that you just look at it and drool.
(For a while I had the window titles and mozilla using CM, but it's HEAVILY optimized for print, so I stopped using it for that)
This is sort of sad. Gator.com is in the top 10 most visited websites. *sigh*
I can't wait until I can get Internet2 access.
qemu is what you'd want for ppc. It's MUCH faster.
Note to self: put cyanide in the cocaine and then leave the it out for the cokeheads to find.
:)
Now we do
Apparently you can use "shitdot", as well. Or anything, really. Heh.

That's pretty good. :)
It has a 678-stage pipeline, too. Hopefully the division circuitry doesn't affect branch prediction!
Care to show me your config, then? I can't play anything from their site.
I'm behind a firewall, but the stream buffers and then refuses to play. Not helpful.
