I loved these older games because they were easy for me to play without being too much into games. Things like frogger were basic and adults and kids alike could enjoy them. While I marvel at the newer games I cannot always enjoy them in the short time that I have to devote to such things. Even simple racer games on the Xbox take a few hours to get used to the controls. I think there is still a market for simple fun arcade games.
Maybe most people would be OK with the office suits for linux, but we have genuine need for office - more for convenience than anything. Lots of the docs I make would not work as well in HTML but I could manage. Given time restrictions I would like to do more than just manage. Oh and if you are going to fuck me you better buy me flowers first sweetie.
yes, that is what I was using at the time and in truth it would still be the best solution. However now we need to work in with a larger organisation that does its client database on access so i had to ditch the mac as i could not afford both a new Pc and mac. Besides at the time of changeover the Matrox editing suit was PC only. I wish I had the time to make it all work on a free operating system as it would make me feel good.
That really is the point with this software I guess. Sure I could pay someone else to do it, or I could actually learn something and do it myself. I have always been far more appreciative of an audio score or photo touchup done on free software than commercial. There is just some sort of "integrity" about it.
I agree with both of you but I have done loads of prosumer editing on indie videos, documentraries etc and have run into the problems described. I do not have the time or money to learn pro audio or hire pro audio people (maybe I should look into it). Having said that I really would like to have better audio capacity in Premiere. My feeling is that the audio got worse in the 4.2 - 5 transition, not in terms of features but in usability. I would love to see some sort of a toggle between Video edit mode and Audio edit mode. In video mode the editor would look similar to what it does now. In audio edit mode the video tracks would become smaller on the timeline (with a small monitor window or output to external monitor) and the audio tracks would be enlarged with good VU's appearing and an equaliser. Also effects that can be applied easily and accurately to different parts of different tracks and not rendered but use the CPU for realtime playback along with the video. I think that with CPU speeds now getting up there this is realistic.
That is not the end of the world as often when editing you have to rename the auto capture nomenclature anyway to make sense of it. The question for me is "is it stable?" and more importantly what are the implications if it crashes (i.e. can you loose the whole project like in the old Premiere 4.2 [which was the cause of many a hair pulling exercise])
I think low budget film makers consider being able to make films on a windows PC and a cannon camera grass roots enough! it is already a big "up yours" to studios and has that rebelious feel to it. Maybe the real hardcore vegan filmmakers will go for this. The real benefit seems to be the renderfarm facility. Not available on Adobe or Apple software out of the box. Admittedly you dont really need it in most cases but it could work out cheaper than doing it in Hardware (on the capture card / effects card)for HDTV or IMAX or the new digital cinema formats. THe most important thing though is that it does not crash / hang... anyone had any experience with this?
I had an argument with Linux enthusiasts that were trying to tell me to put Linux on my desktop. Their logig was... this is really cool and we hate MS. My response was... cool internet server and fun to play with but until it can -
a) do real photo editing b) edit professional video c) be a reasonable replacement for MS office
I would not touch it.... but yeh MS do suck dont they.
Well lookey here - there are less and less reasons to stay with XP. Well done guys!
I agree totally, in my business I run XP and Office XP and Illustrator 9 and Photoshop and Internet and CD burning (and sol) and my old p266/384mb was fine for this (after I turned the XP eye candy off). I was doing more than most people would on their business PC. I finally replaced it with a Duron the other day when Motherboard died. What it did not do was run Fruity Loops well which is why I am happy to upgrade and it was a dog with Linux which is not as snappy as windows whe running X. But these things are hardly mission critical for me. I have some friends who work for MS and the word is that they are very afraid of Linux on the desktop and staff are pissed off with the low share prices.
I did not buy play becuase i have not heard any good stuff form it. (it was a feature album for a week on jjj in Australia). But the reason it is not great has nothing to do with Moby not spending enough time in the studio. He completed hundreds of songs as candidates for the album. I think the reason it sucks is Moby unconsciously subverted himself by taking all the catchy melody out of the tunes. Someone like Moby hates mainstream success and cannot help himself - he has to subvert it.
Thats ok because I already have play - Moby will be better when he decided to go hard again - he is a genuine talent.
I saw AOTC yesterday and was stoked with the second half hour. Lucus fucked up the romance with too many pretty scenes. Remember Leah and Han went at it in the middle of the battle, where the action was. Not much pussying around in long grass. Instead of wisking Anakin and Padme off to Naboo they should have kept them RIGHT in the action and let them act and improvise like the OT.
The romance was great during the battle scenes with the Hot young lovers showing flesh and kicking ass while keeping each others back - what more could you want?
The CGI was amazing in the battle scenes kepping it rocking and gritty. And only mace could behead with such fuck you energy. Cewl thanks George - stick to the action in epIII.
there are heaps of different philosophies that the brothers can incorporate, riddles to unwind and punches to throw. The original was not great because it was just a punch up flick. It was mentally and physically involving, my bet is the next ones will be more so.
THis is a very good point - a tough carbon based bug scrapping a living off Oxygen deposits and atmosphere born Hydrocarbons on Mars would consider earth a Smorgass Board.
Many bacteria produce toxic substances as a metabolic byproduct. This is what makes you sick when you get an infection. Imagine a simple celled critter secreting Nitric Acid spreading over every surface on the planet!
This is what we pay uncle george for. As for not original comments - shut up! That is what we have art house for you idiots! This is STAR WARS (duuuhhhh!!)
There is nothing revolut about the winzip implementation and it would be dumb not to include it. Not it just means that my XP works as well as my file manager in Redhat 7.1 - big deal - winzip isnt exactly rocket science and the dude has been making a squllion out of it for years.
absolutely University is the go. I landed at a uni all bushy tailed and bright eyed and showed a little INTEREST - big mistake. I was instantly immersed in CISCO, NT, NOVELL, LINUX, IIbloodyS,BSD, EUDORA, something called bloody MOSAIC, WINSOCK, NETSCAPE, NEXT, etc etc etc.
But a word of warning - have fun but get out before it kills you!!
I am now a poor Yoga teacher who reads slashdot like old people look at photo's.(having burnt out at 26)
Lets make no bones about it i am a complete idiot. Having said that maybe there is an effect when an object with mass moves away from a gravity field similar to a conductor moving through a magnetic field. Might be interesting to....say.....weigh... the space probes to see if they are any heavier. Momentum must be conserved (I think) so maybe with decreased velocity mass has incresed in some way thus messing up calculations.

People will get what they want - if they cannot get a copy of what they need digitally they will do it with analogue - easy.

Sooo.... thats why I just cant seem to wake up in time to catch the bus. The light was late for me. Will have to get my mum to write a note
Well actually I thought Minority Report was great - better than Spiderman or AOTC. Real emotion in the acting and signs of subtle beauty.

any researcher who creates a MIDI violin has too much time on his hands.
