I'm not really sure the license fees are exaggerated (XP or Vista ships with the vast majority of PCs sold, the market doesn't seem to mind the price). Microsoft could charge less, but that doesn't mean that they would be better off doing so.
For businesses that are paying people $30,000 a year to work (this is an absurd low ball), $300 every 3 years (this is probably somewhat high) is not particularly onerous of a license fee (any business will still prefer $299 to $300, and so on). As long as Microsoft can maintain the perceived value of Windows, they will do fine (and the 'mainstream' take on Vista is that it could have been better and more exciting, not that it flopped).
These parts, it is illegal to dispose of batteries as waste, they are supposed to be recycled (this doesn't mean that everybody recycles them, but it does mean that it is straightforward to do it).
None of those necessarily negative impact reproductive success...A dude who has 10 children by 11 different women and dies when he is 23 is a lot more successful in a reproductive sense than a dude who lives by the cloth until he dies of old age.
I don't know, the B&E charge shows quite a lack of judgment. If he'll break into a school to fix his grades, it is likely that he'll embezzle without hesitation, lie, cheat, steal, etc. each and every time that he thinks he can get away with it.
I'm all for making the penal system as improvement based as possible (after all, taking care of someone is expensive, and 'hardening' them is a poor outcome), but the news on the ground shows that there also needs to be a deterrent aspect (large numbers of people consistently act in a manner that shows no regard for society or others).
Next time it doesn't load, try hitting Ctrl-F5, that's the command for reloading the page and the cache, instead of just reloading the page. It essentially ignores any cached information, and a partial download of the page is almost certainly your issue.
The power supply for my laptop, a 20 month old core duo 1.66 GHz, is 65 watts. That means it draws less than that when the screen is on full brightness (otherwise, it would not be able to charge the battery...).
I guess that could be described as underpowered, or as a high power draw, but it seems kind of silly. It isn't anywhere near as fast as something more recent, but it is still fast enough that 99% of the time, it is idling waiting for me to do something, and 1% of the time I wait for it (and that is really usually disk IO). An $800, 2010 laptop should have that up to 99.9%...
You'll have to take me at my word, but I really was replying to "I just would like to see where this happened." a lot more than I was replying to "Care to cite some examples?", hence the posting of a pointer without any discussion.
I did happen to point out an (the?) example, but once is certainly explained away as a mistake.
A good portion of my intent was simply to point out what the first post was even about (i.e., something actually happened, it isn't completely invented).
I don't think Fox is particularly worse than the other cable news channels, but I don't think that is saying much either. I think they lean a little more right than 'fair and balanced' would indicate, but that's about the extent of the difference. For the most part, they all execute pretty well on what they are trying to do, it is more that none of them are trying to do anything other than garner viewership (where ostensibly 'news' means that sometimes you work to inform with little or no regard for ratings).
Yeah well, I didn't ever say it was a devious plan by fox, I was just pointing out that there was at least one example to be found, and that it wasn't all that hard to find.
Yeah, I got that, my point was more that the line between technology and musician is blurred all over the place. After all, anyone doing something more than singing is enhancing their body somehow or another, why judge doing it digitally differently than doing it with a hollow tube?
And yet it is still used to convince juries.

All we need is an actuary, they would have more than a hunch, they would have a hunch backed by tables and formulas.
Between 1980 and ~2000, the cost of a license was small compared to the cost of a computer.
Obviously you just add a hole in the floor to let the light in from China.
What environmental cost are you worried about?

Is it a let down knowing that your day has passed?
It'll take Microsoft about 5 days to fix it.
Part of being a giant, evil mega-corporation is successfully choosing when to be pragmatic.

You maybe wrong? No, you may be wrong. They don't always go together.
Do you work at Google building Gmail?
I though gmail used the Google Web Toolkit:
http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/
If it does, then it really is written in java...

If he mugged 50 people he would probably be facing more time.
One good thing to do is to wait and see what his actual sentence is before worrying to much about a miscarriage of justice.
It hasn't been decided that he is going to spend 38 years in prison just yet.
It wouldn't be shocking if he spends 10 though.

How do you reconcile the fact that anybody who calls their production "The Art of Manliness" is almost guaranteed to be a 92 pound douche?
I'll take the Red Green Show.

Beers!
Not Strat.

Commenting without saying anything is a much bigger weakness in this community. Well followed.
Do you dislike electric guitar?
Where does the line between twiddling the knobs on an amplifier and twiddling the knobs on a synthesizer get drawn?
Do you have hundreds of domains that have nothing but auto-generated advertising?
Would a good faith assumption about the first 20 (or 50) domains registered to an individual or business work for you?
I seem to remember seeing research that showed that there is object and movement detection that goes on before conscious 'seeing'.
It will be interesting to see if they get anywhere with the machine recognition.
