Could lightly radioactive water be pumped into the reactor to become more heavily radiated? How much worse would that be for the workers who have to handle it?
I'm sorry, but I like Linux and hate Microsoft, yet I still can't stomach this marketing'esque spew of BS. If Microsoft said the reverse of this this topic would hit 500+ comments.
Cite for the autopilot / rudder problem? Also, as the rudder has been recovered, is there anything about it to suggest that it had been roughed up by the autopilot?
...when this was vented to the secondary containment.
Which structure is secondary containment? That is, these reactors seem to have a) a reactor vessel, b) an almost form-fitting steel and concrete containment structure, and c) a cube-shaped building that does not seem very tough at all.
Other reactors seem to have b), and instead of c), have d) a massive steel and concrete dome. Would a hypothetical d) be secondary or tertiary containment?
This may be wrongheaded, but I think of a steam locomotive's boiler explosion in the era of Diesel-electric locomotives. One would have rightly asked why they were still using the old technology, but would have to concede that the safety of the locomotive fleet was improving with time.
There may still be Ford Pintos on the roads, but for the most part the cars on the road are safe. There will be fewer and fewer Pinto catastrophes as the years go by.
Some typos are really not acceptable. To me, a pilot tube must be how the captain gets through a long flight without getting up and going back to the loo.
There are now two million slashdot accounts. Will someone please provide some informed speculation on the major components of the plant, which components are likely damaged based on the video, and the best and worst that could be expected for this plant based on the available information? Thank you
Useful summary information might include answers to, what's an HBGary Federal? Maybe something about what was in the emails that caused embarrassment. Those kinds of things.
Copying a New York Times article wholesale, and then using a Slashdot post to bait-and-switch readers into visiting your website rather than the Times?
Ballsy.
That's funny. I recently purchased some dresses via thespec.com (along with some grommet top curtains).

...I connect to the internet with a 15 km fibre optic cable.
I think it's cool that Torvalds was born a few days before the UNIX epoch.
Remember, this is three generations ahead of where we are now. It will all work out by then.

Nicely stated. Thank you.
(Or down, if you prefer).

It was the darnedest thing. The iPhone4 landed on a barstool in a bar.

It's a pitot tube and it's, than. (And it shouldn't have happened.)
I haven't read about Birgenair. Did the pilots know their speed going down the runway?
Thank you! I had not heard about this. (Not that I necessarily agree with your conclusion, but it must surely have been a significant factor.)

Thank you, TopSpin.

You've got my vote.
Thank you! Exactly what I was thinking, but exponentially more elegant.

I hate to carp, but shouldn't the lead read, ...life on Earth may have come... ??
...hemp seeds and acorns.
I'm not upset about the text input. My only change to the rules would be that all of Watson has to fit on the stage.

Could we get the information back from such a telescope in a reasonable period of time?
