After reading a lot of comments I felt 'Hell, click the ads', but thanks for setting me straight. I signed up for none of these banners. I will click for the sites I love. But beware to all you little 'mom-n-pop' sites: BannerXchange blows, and really annoys people with 56kbps. I have DSL, I am lucky
hmmm, So 4k isn't chump change for most people (ESPICIALLY college students). A similar instance (not the situation but paying and not receiving) I walk into Macdonalds. Pay $5 for a Big Mac meal. Oops sorry we gave it to someone else. [then with what you are suggesting...] "Oh your stupidty is A-Ok with me. Here, here is $5 more dollars for a plain cheese-burger." You want him to just ignore what happened, then willingly pay more money (without ANY re-embersment) for a name LESS suitable than the first. Whos to blame: The guy? maybe, for going to NSI The races.com seller? Nope, he signed the dotted line. Register.com? Nope, they saw its open for all The New buyer? Nope, as we all know, you see a steal, you take it. NSI? Yep,
I think that I am bound to be the only one here to agree with you. I think that its stupid the way it looks. Can you say Yahoo! or Lycos (yeah I know, not a portal, but it has that same distinct feel). Maybe a cross betweent the old and new site would suffice.
It doesn't, believe me I have looked. I hear that they are working on it right now but that they all ready consider it a lost 'cause (maybe like Netscape5).
I just want to say that what you said is great. Hearing an admin actually follow practical tactics with their servers is great. Too many times you hear admins say that their systems suck because of the company. For example, my school's NT network, its shot to hell. Because I can "hack it" (basically do edit stuff I shouldn't) because our "Network Admin" (a joke term)doesn't understand what the hell he's doing. He had a hard time installing a simple typing program. Trust me if you saw this guy at work you'd cry!!
Basically I am saying that if you follow the guidelines and treat your network like a child (always nurturing/protecting/soothing it), it'll "grow up" like anything else, with some bumps and bruises but still basically very well.
I use win95 (Hated win98) and Linux. I have AOL, thats all I have access to so Linux isn't the way to go for my everyday life. If I could access the 'net with Linux and AOL I would switch to Linux at the drop of a hat. But I can't.
My Point is that I still read slashdot, even though I use Win95. This site says "NEWS FOR NERDS. STUFF THAT MATTERS." Not "NEWS FOR LINUX. WE'RE ALL THAT MATTER." Catch my drift.
Sure/. is mainly a Linux/GPL geared site, but it's more than that.
Personally, I think that the font sizes for NS4 on Linux are a joke, I need a mag. class just to read it. NS4.6 on windows is great, IE4 is good, IE5 I protest.
This is more like the pyschic friends network than anythings tangible. I mean some of the things in there contridicted eachother. Besides, I would rather just see the damned movie than have to listen to some crap that some guy at E! came up with on the top of his head (or her). Anyone else see what I am saying here?
I was wondering if anyone read the book The History of Apple: Blunders, mistakes, and (something else)? I am 16 and when I read it I thought "wow, those guys were idiots" but I don't know if I can lend a lot of credit to it sinice I sorta wasn't paying to computers when I was 4 LOL, maybe I should have been. Thanks to anyone who tells me how to take this book. On a side note, I think that the movie will be bias towards MSFT.
Well I am 16 and get ribbed for being a "Computer Nerd." I tell them that I am "not goofy, dweeby looking guy who sits with pocket protectors and taped glasses." And that they should "stop judgin people with 2-deminsional terms." So I go for the term "Guy who knows coding, computers, and loves it, but isn't involved with illegal crud." Seems a little long, but there's no way the media can screw THAT up.
Its not harsh to say its "useless." If you bought a car and then hit the brakes 32 times and after that you car sputtered, and died, wouldn't you think "you useless pease of crap?" If something that is common to a server, and vital for a buisness using the server, crashes it then something is obviously wrong, therefore not making it a viable solution. I may be completely way off base here but thats what a gathered from it.
Maybe someone can program (I don't really care in what language) a new personality more befitting an airlines company. Instead of the rude flight attendents maybe some happy ones. Instead of the "shove it up your butt" checkin clerks, some "how may I happily help you today" clerks. And the "I think I need another drink" pilots to "Jeez I am flying a great group of people today." Lets face it, their flying doesnt need to get better, it's their people skills.
This may be true if they bought Intel (or even AMD if they continue growing) because they have the masses attetion. But with Cyrix, no one knows who they are so why would they buy it? And also if they bought it they would probably screw it up (like most of there software).
Wouldn't work with existing Windows user base.

Thats still to hard for today's average computer user!!
We need to laugh at ourselves. Think that perhaps they did all this to loosen everyone up? Almost all of us (myself included) have a bug up our ass about monoplies, being repressed, and freedom of choice. Basically I tend to think they are saying "LIGHTEN UP!!!!"
"Did you see that I was being repressed" -- Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I wish it wasn't going to be canceled! We used to have Sci-Fi but Cox communications decided we aren't good enough (unless we get digital). I am 16 and have grown up with Crow, Tom, and Joel (I haven't seen much of the other guy). When ever I can I rent an oldy from Blockbuster (2 rows dedicated to MST!!). Ahhhhh why?!?!?!?
If you weren't born here, you can be president. Them's is the breaks

Here is the windows version http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/software/setiat home_win_1_0.exe On my 56k it took about 4 minutes.

Yes, Joel was the heart and soul of MST, but Mike is good as well. Besides Crow, and Tom are still there punning, and squabbling as ever before.
I would like to see "Agent from H.A.R.M" again.
