I'm teaching an online course using Centra next semester, and for this one thing I have to buy a copy of XP to load on my MacBook (I'm just glad I have the Intel machine to run it on).
There's no price break from the university, but I can buy XP Home SP2 OEM online for $87. As an adjunct professor, that's about what I'll make for teaching the course.
I'm a relative noob, having only used e-mail since 1990, but for the last 16 years I've managed just fine without it. (Nowadays I configure my mail client to ignore HTML. It still works.)
Usenet is better than the web for reading lots of posts too.
The fun part is already over. Now it's just about marketing deals and tie-ins, which is not nearly as much fun as watching the thing get off the ground.
if, for example, they wanted to buy him out and shut him out of the loop, he might have wanted 2000 mil for that
Dude, it's fucking facebook. You think anyone aside from dim investors actually cares about being in that loop?
Sell the stock and get out of the dotcom biz. The only thing more depressing than being known as 'the dumbass who could have had $750 mil but held out for more' is being known as 'the next Marc Andreessen.'
closing in on a solution that would dramatically improve the functionality of the common hook device
Ya think? I mean aside from being perfectly designed to hang from the passenger door handle of teenage lovers' cars, a hook it not exactly the most useful interface in the modern world. How do you dial (or push) a telephone with a hook? How do you type with a hook?
Bravo for open source! It's about time someone designed something better than a hook, like maybe five knife fingers or a chainsaw.
You're at 10,000 feet...Of course with the freezing cold in the upper atmosphere, its not unlikely you will hit sea level as a block of frozen ice, if you don't asphyxiate first.
I think you meant 40,000 feet. 10,000 feet has plenty of air and, in the summer, is warm enough to wear a tee shirt, as anyone who's been on a medium-sized mountain knows.
I'd buy it from you.

Looks like PC home-brew system builders have been let back into the Vista party!
Oh, wheee. Watery beer and date rape.
Seriously, has he done anything good?
He's managed to make our former president Nixon look pretty good in comparison.
Shouldn't be a problem. Heck, you could even say that it plays for sure.
Mexican isn't a race, dumbass. Feel free to suck my balls with those pursed, disapproving lips.
That's the PC folks in a nutshell: All het up to get offended about something they don't understand.
Oh, crap. I have got to stop doing tech support for people.
My apologies.
Since HTML is a vital component of email
Oh? Since when? According to whom?

Your name isn't Michael Weston by any chance?
There's also Dennis Miller, but he's a flaming douche. And not actually funny.
And with so many cores, one will need multiple independants memory banks with some kind of NUMA.
Have no fear, Dirk Pitt and his swarthy pal Al will take care of it.
If the robot's going to through the intestines undigested, "peanut" would be a good name too.
The guy's already been offered the $$$. How much more does he want?
Ummmm, no.

The pom poms are so that my death robot can cheer as it kills you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They call it Final Fantasy but there's always another feckin' version coming out.
That is perfectly legal under Hungarian law
You sound pretty cool. Wouldn't you like a bridge named after Stephen Colbert to grace your country?
In space nobody can even assess whether it really is a quantum computer.
Don't believe anything you hear and only 1/2 of what you see.
And don't buy albums entitled "New York."
Both "portals" and "social networking" sites are for utter tools.
Fuck, anyone who even uses the word "portal" anymore needs to have his ass kicked back to 1999.
Scientists still hope it will find the edge of the solar system
What's to find? It's not like it's hidden. Just keep going and you'll trip over it.

Hartford, CT is now the Des Moines of the east
Always was, dude, always was.
INE(E)L is located so far from town so as to provide a buffer zone in case of a little mistake in one of the engineering projects.
For good reason.
