I've heard that there was a web site that showed many photos of abortion doctors. I don't understand why people don't create a web site that shows us what these spammers look like. They definitely deserve to be shot.
All the web masters would have to do is show a couple head shots [front & profile], as well as a few shots of them in casual situations [so that we can recognize them in regular clothing, & being relaxed, etc]. The site wouldn't have to advocate anything. The web surfers can make up their own minds.
It would be as if the web masters are painting targets on the heads on these spammers. If anybody calls these web masters to the carpet for "painting targets on them", then they would only have to say, "What? I'm just painting. I just like to paint.".
That was my 1st impression when I 1st saw the title. It seems to me that some people just don't have any sense. We should never celebrate anything bad.
I was reading that post that you are replying to, & as I got to the middle, which I assume is the quoted text, it began to get blurry, & I got dizzy. So, as I looked away everything cleared. The rest of his post seemed fine. So, I looked @ the middle of the post again, & again I got dizzy!
It was weird. It was really weird. It's too bad too. That could have been the 1st/. article that I read since I joined many years ago, but hey, what can you do?
Anyways, it's good to know that I'm not the only 1 who can't read articles & quoted text. It's a good chance to practise improvising.
You really do have an interesting point. If sending a virus to my computer can be called art or intelligence or cleverness, then can kicking in the virus writer's knees be considered art or cleverness? After all, the kicker is just exploiting a the weakness of the kickee, in the same manner that the virus writer is exploiting a weakness of someone else. It would be artistic because it would be sending a message, & it would displaying the human body in a way that isn't usually done. It would certainly get the kickee to think.
Well, I think that your point is based on the idea that laws can be used to protect wrong actions. Yeah, they can, but the fault is with the jury & judges. So, I agree that spam will continue for a while, but we all know that spam really is harrassment.
Also I was speaking from the perspective that all spam should be regarded as harrassment. I think punishment should increase exponentially for repeat offenders, so that companies can make honest mistakes without worry. Obviously, an honest mistake isn't harrassment, but for this context the companies have the responsibilities to prove that they don't have spammy intents.
I admit that I haven't the foggiest idea of how to go about implementing such an idea.
I know hardly anything about Internet-2. While I assume that it is possible to send email over Internet-2, I wonder if it is common. Is it? Is there spam? I ask mostly because I wonder how desperate these spammers are.
Just a few minutes ago, Aunt Tilley taught me how to compile my 1st kernel, & when I asked her a question, she refused to answer. I can't remember what she said exactly, but was something to do with man pages, howtos & Google.
Okay, for anybody who's interested, I've corrected the above text, but used bold to highlight 1 of the corrections. Sorry wasting your time.
I totally agree with you here. The very least that they should offer is:
/dev/hda1/boot /dev/hda2 swap /dev/hda3/root
Obviously, the more technical people can recommend something better, but the point should be clear.
As for 2 tabs or whatever, I agree. I hate having to see a diff of 2 files that have no significant changes. They smarttened up a bit by automatically merging comments. I think that people should be shot when they just change spacing without a specific reason [such as readability] because it wastes everybody's time.
A cool option would be to autmatically merge init scripts but not the others.

Wow, somebody has read this far down in the discussion to see your post & mod it up. Well, I think you deserve it. I'd like to parallel your comments by adding mine. Our company has worked with 2 Indian teams, which are totally contrasted. 1 team is completely impossible to get a hold of, while the other is always contacting me through MSN messenger. They feel very North American in the way that they deal with me.
They are no less or no more clever than any coders from other nationalities I have worked with.
I can't verify this for sure, but I haven't heard anything to the opposite. I heard that the good team needs everything spelt out. This seems to be verified with the technical specs that we sent to the bad team. I also heard that the good team is becoming very effective.
Communication isn't good. This may be the language barrier but the friendly communication I have with other developers just doesn't happen and so we cannot work as closely together. Hence...
I don't have a problem. I actually prefer that there be no chit-chat or small talk. I'm not trying to be a harsh manager, but the idea is that I'm kind of busy, & I don't want to disturb them by asking meaningless questions.
Our contractors are not good at working with other developers. You can give them a project and they will complete it but you can't give them a subsystem. Which isn't very useful as we have a component based development system.
I don't sense that in the good team. They seem to be very relaxed when we discuss things. I should point out that I haven't worked with them very long in developing things.
You have to work through the team leader. There is very much a hierachy which is formally adhered to. You can be having a video conference with a team but all will stay quiet except for the team leader. This is possibly a hangover of the cast system?
The good team seems not have that problem. If I understand correctly, they are all Christians, & thus the caste system doesn't apply. No matter why, though, they definitely don't have a problem with letting the right person do the talking, as opposed to just the ring leader. Last night I was helping someone to use PuTTY, pscp, & psftp. I thought that I would have to speak to 1 of the more experienced workers, but he didn't hesitate to pass me over to her. She is probably on the lowest rung of the corporate ladder.
On a slightly unrelated note, I do agree with this caste system idea that you have. I hear that the caste system is so strong, that you can tell what caste a person belongs to just by looking @ him, even in a different country with a different set of clothes.
The code is naeve. I.e. it has the feel of code created by someone who has only just learnt C and has little non educational experience. Also the concept of reusability in code and designs seems alien. Probably because they are used to working on products in their entirity. When provided with components to use in their development it is very very hard to get them not to modify the components themselves.
I would have to agree here. The bad team was supposed to develop some networking software. Instead of reusing the hosts file to find a server, they created a new file. That really caught my attention & bothered me, until I finally realized that this wasteful in that everytime we installed [for testing &/or upgrading], we would have to reconfigure it, & the IP address in the file was always theirs.
I'm quite positive & optimistic about Indians, but I know that it will take some effort.
When did you try this? It's been a while since I played around with FreeDOS, but I think that the problem that you speak of might have been solved over 1.5 years ago. I'm just guessing. If you give a date of when you tried this, then everybody might have a clearer idea of what you are referring to.
Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, when people are short & to the point, without being helpful, then they can be considered rude. Sometimes people don't have to give a lot of information, if the context warrants it, but I suspect from what you said, that this would be a different context.
his finger is too big to get at the recessed button
I'm sad to hear that. I glad to hear that you can push the button okay. I was wondering if your husband would be able to push the button if he used his pinky. Has he tried that yet? I ask because you only mention "finger" & not "fingers".
I think that a lot of the problems could be solved if they stopped making the buttons recessed. If I had no hands, I should be able to push the buttons easily with my wrists. While they're @ it, they may as well make the things easy to use for blind people too. When I reach down under my desk to press the reset button, I find it much easier to not move my body where I can see the button. If I can do it by touch, then I'll be much happier. I'm sure that blind people face similar hurdles in their context.
That's an awesome idea. It's never even occurred to me. I'm not necessarily going say that it's true, but I'm very open to it. When I look @ women & their cell phones, I always get the impression that they are buying newer equipment for impractical reasons.

& to add to that, a well written document is several times better than a well made gui.

Actually, once they starting & smelling goatse photos, then they'll never open another spam again.

That looks too hard. Do you have a way to do it without typing?

It's EMBARRASSING.

Hi.
A while ago, you asked to be posted about a transit project. Well, I finally got the rough draft of the web site started. The project is called, TIPs [Transit Information Packages]. This is a project to create customized transit information. The web site elaborates a bit more.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hmm, since it was only last week, I think that the problem is different from what I experienced.
Too bad. I hope things work out well, whatever you decide to do.
Take care.

I guess only time & research will tell.
