    Yeah, that would be useful. How do you do that on an iPhone? I thought that the lack of that feature was one of it's problems for Enterprise.

    It was added as part of the 2.0 firmware upgrade.

    The only way this will inconvenience anyone is if they are not a "moderate or heavy surfer" and are in fact running torrent downloads 24/7/365 pulling a constant load of 100kBps or more.

    Think about this. Comcast's cap is 250GB, yes? There is 2,592,000 seconds in 30 days. 250,000 MB / 2,592,000 = .096451. That means to exceed your cap, you must have a constant network load of .096 megabytes PER SECOND all month. I SERIOUSLY doubt that's the case if you are using it as described.

    Actually between DirecTV's VOD service (which uses the Internet to stream video to the DVR) and just a little bit of torrenting I could conceivably hit 250GB. The same for people who use NetFlix streaming.

    "Apple's hardware is only premium when you want an expandable computer. When comparing the specs of Macs and Windows PCs the prices are about the same. However when you want to add a second hdd and video card or when you want to upgrade the hardware then you have to go with the Mac Pro which starts at $2500, the lower cost Macs are not expandable. Oops, Apple raised them to $2800. You can save a little though if you join Apple Developer Connection. That's what I did when I switched from Windows to Macs."

    Straight from the Apple Store -- downgrade to the single Quad Core 2.8GHz Xeon is $2300
    Straight from Macmall same computer -- $2214.

    Anyone can sell music for the iPod -- just not DRM'd music. Emusic, Amazon, Walmart, and MagnaTunes all sale music compatible with the iPod. No one is stopping any other manufacturer from selling an MP3 player that supports subscription music from the major labels and in fact, Sandisk, Microsoft, Creative, and Archos all sell devices that support subscription music from Rhapsody and Napster.

    Without music management software how do I:
    1. Create Smart Playlists
    2. Keep track of meta data like last time played, number of times played,number of times skipped.
    3. Create different playlists with the same songs without duplicating songs in different folders
    4. Manage podcasts so they seamlessly work between the device and the computer -- i.e. start playing a podcast on the computer, sync it to the iPod and start where I left off, set up the podcast so that episodes are deleted once listened to on either the device or computer.
    5. Create a playlist in a certain order without naming the songs so that the sort order is the same as the desired play order?

    Not only that, but why would I want a separate app to manage my music, rip my CD's, burn CD's, backup my library, play music, and play movies?

    iTunes Plus tracks have been $0.99 for months now.

    The government is selling some of the bandwidth to be freed up by going digital and using that money to subsidize cable boxes. Since the airwaves belong to the public, why not let the government give some of the money back to the public that they will make selling it?

    There was just a story on Slashdot where a company was doing exactly that. They were decrypting the movie and storing it on a media server -- with drm and the industry was still up in arms.

    "I'm not sure whether they'd win or not, but it's a legitimate argument. All they need is enough legitimacy to get to court. Once in court, they're pretty much guaranteed to win in the court of public opinion, even if they loose the case. I'm not sure the movie industry would really want all the negative PR."

    Do you really expect them to expose themselves to this type of liability? Do you remember what happened to the original MP3.com when they tried to do the digital locker?

    So you expect a publically traded company to do something that is clearly illegal? It's not about the movie industry, it's against the law in the US.

    If you have HandBrake (free open source for Macs, Windows, Linux) you put a DVD in and you choose one of the available presets -- iPod, PSP, AppleTV, etc. and click a button. How could it be any easier?

    The numbers don't support your claim. iTunes is growing every year and according to the CEO of Universal makes up 23% of all music sales in the US. Other music stores are not failing because of DRM. They are failing because they lack iPod compatibility. I'm no more in favor of DRM than the next person but the market doesn't support your conclusion.

    A 1GB Nano never cost more than $149. It was actually released quietly -- at least for Apple -- to get a player under $149.

    This was debunked months ago...There are no current generation iPods on the list. For some reason Amazon is not counting current generation iPods as a portable media player.

    You're confusing MS-Truth for Real-Truth.

    Microsoft said they got "10% in the market they compete". Meaning they got 10% of hard drive based players only. When you look at all players they were actually #4 with 2.9% behind Sandisk, Creative, and Apple.

    Last January when Apple Computer changed its name to Apple Incorporated, SJ also announced that they had bought all rights for the name "Apple" from Apple Corps and relicensed the name back to them. Apple is no longer subject to the agreement.

    You mean like the iTunes Plus songs they offer now from EMI and independent labels which are not DRM encumbered and can be played by most DAP's and cell phones? Apple gave the major labels the option of selling non protected songs -- only EMI took them up on the offer.

    I am a 5 foot 4 inch fitness instructor and between teaching classes and my own workouts easily work out 10-12 hours a week. I weigh 173 pounds which puts my BMI at 29.7 -- borderline obese. My body fat percentage is 12% and I have a 32 inch waist. I only have about 21 pounds of fat. I would have to lose 30 pounds to get to a normal BMI. Where is that weight loss suppose to come from?
