They've had this around San Diego for a while. From talking to the employees at the Vons(Safeways for the rest of the country) where the machines are located, they said that a lot of the purchases have been with stolen cards. And that is exactly what happened my friend this weekend when her purse was stolen. $800 in less than in hour from the super market down the street.
Not sure who takes the loss, but its probably going to be the biggest problem for the company running the machines.
I bet google has modified this software ( or is planning to in the future,) so that doesn't clobber there search results as much. Maybe they are building in tags and such so that there regular bots won't be as confused by all the links between blogs. Since this is a growing problem for them, it would make sense to try and preempt it.

I actually heard Robert Stone read from this book. The passage he picked was the midnight dive mentioned above. By the time he was done, the whole audience was gasping for breath, it was that realistic.
But as far as the rest of his talk went, he is the most boring person I have heard. When describing his inspirational trip to the Carribean, he actually managed to make the story of his friend getting seduced by a voodoo priestess sound boring!
The FDA does serve a purpose, Thalidomide is a great example. Ever see a person in their 20's or 30's with an underdevolped limb? Most likely they were born in another country where Thalidomide was allowed as a treatment for morning sickness. Why wasn't it allowed in the US, because no studies had been performed which measured its affect on the pregnancy. Thank you FDA!
Oh yeah and guess who isn't a big fan of FDA regulation? Orrin Hatch. Turns out Utah is home to many of the big health supplement companies. The FDA has no jurisdiction over them, so they are allowed to make all sorts of false promises about their products and then sell you whichever mix of ginsing and ephedrine they wish.
What about in denser neighborhoods, or apartments. Where could be many different channels being watched , and open internet connections at the same time. Seems like the "54Mbps" would be used up pretty quickly.
And is it really even 54 Mbps? I seem to recall that the actual transmission rate is much lower.
Seems that Apple having the ability to run X on another platform gives them an advantage when it comes to them negotiating prices and such with IBM. It doesn't look like Motorola will be able to produce the chips that Apple will need in the future, so Apple's sole supplier of PPC chips would be IBM. This would not be good for Apple. This way, while a move to Intel doesn't seem likely, Apple is in a better position to ask for things such as faster chips.
They do. The Real client works decently. Check out this link on imaclinux.net for info on how to install it. The information might be a little stale but the links on the page are still good and should get you what you want.

I agree. I think a more acurate description of this piece would be as an opinion piece. Oh wait, it's in the Opinion section of the Mercury. Calling it anything else lends this piece more credibility than it deserves.

Do you have trouble watching TV for an hour?
Do you have touble playing a videogame for an hour?
If not then maybe you don't have ADHD.
If you do in fact have trouble with these, I have found caffeine helps me concentrate.
same as the old boss.

-The ability to run only on very specific hardware.
-The ability to run a Unix system with no real guarantee about how it is implemented
-From an earlier article I know this is at least available at sun: "Someone to choke"
