At first glance I would agree with you. However, I can envision an extreme (EXTREME!) surgery where the patiant was bombarded with hormones from the opposite sex, then had their genitals totally removed, with the hopes that genitals from the opposite sex would grow back naturally. Pretty freakin' crazy eh? Of course if you cut your lip during the healing process you may end up looking like this.
Thanks. I thought it was kind of neat. At first I didn't think it was intuitive at all, but after flipping corners for 2-3 minutes it had become second nature. I like it. Did they have source up too?
You lack imagination. Set off one (or more!) of those during rush hour on a busy bridge, in an underground expressway. In front of train station at rush hour.
Your point is valid as well, but flawed. Put scanners on the subway, and terrorists will just take the bus instead. Put them on the bus, they'll bring bombs to the movie theatre, the concert hall, the bowling alley, the schoolyard, the community center, the gym, shopping mall, grocery store, day cares, etc...
In fact, the London bombings are a perfect example of the ease by which terrorists can shift their targets, and was probably a direct result of the increase in security at airports over the past few years.
Of course, perhaps it is money well invested since the logistics involved in a subway terrorism incident aren't pretty, but neither were the logistics of for the people trapped in the World Trade Center nor even the children in Beslan.
Since there will always be a way, I think it's a matter of changing the will instead. The money should be spent on winning the hearts and minds of the people of other countries. I'm not talking about the terrorists but those who the terrorists use for support. Blow up a bus... increase aid to starving countries, shoot down a plane, build a dozen schools or a community center in a struggling nation. Oh, and I'd still have my gov'ts police and intelligence seek out and punish those who took the action.
You were probably looking at version 3.x. All components can have themes applied to them, and if you take a look at the user gallery you'll find some nice stuff.
Use these statistics from W3 Schools with a grain of salt, but it looks like Mozilla makes up 4% of the browser market compared to Firefox's 19%.
Personaly I still use Mozilla because I've noticed sometimes when you bring up Firefox from the taskbar it takes 5-10 seconds before it becomes usable again. This was a problem back in 0.4/0.5 and still is a problem in 1.0. I don't think it's ever happened to me in Mozilla.
I've been using this stuff for almost a year, even though the people at work were too short sighted to see the advantages. Then GMail came out and lo and behold, google was doing what I was doing.
This is the way to make powerful web apps and lighten the burden of maintaining state. This is the future for at least the next five years in web development. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I guess I won't be so elite anymore. But if anyone wants a wizard on this topic, send me an email and I'll come work for you.
Umm, yes he was. He invented a mechanism for transmission, and introduced the assembly line to auto production. He also displayed the cost effectiveness by keeping things simple with his classic "You can have it in any color you want, as long as it's black."
But I understand the point you're trying to make, which is that although Henry Ford didn't invent the automobile, he helped make it become something that every family could own.
I just got back from a trip to South-East Asia, and in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos it was rediculous how every single music store sold bootleg CDs. Mostly stuff downloaded from the net (lots of 'best of' with tons of typos), but in high-end/high-quality cases. Especially the stuff I saw in Louang-Prabang (Laos). They were dirt cheap, $2-$5, and I heard they were even cheaper in VietNam, although I didn't make it out there.
If you want even more flagrant copyright violations, when I had satelite tv in Cambodia they were playing Swordfish on one of the channels and it was the exact same DivX screener that I'd downloaded when it first came out in theatres...with the same animated logo scrolling across the top right and everything. How crazy is that?
I have to agree. When running on batteries they happen to be quieter than any nuclear sub out there. The americans love 'em because they get to test a real challenge for the first time in years. They also happen to be able to monitor 100,000 km2 of ocean at a time, and although you don't hear about it, have been quite helpful at maintaining our sovereignty on the east (and now west) coasts. These are the most advanced diesel subs out there, any anyone who thinks they are WW2 subs doesn't know what they are talking about. And even with the accident after the refurbishing, they're still a damn good deal.
And as far as end of shelf life, they actually haven't seen the half of it yet. They are slated for mods that would allow them to go under the ice caps, and another mod that would double (if I remember correctly) their under water time without snorkeling.
I agree with you in that JS menus aren't a very good idea. 10% of surfers have it turned off, and the menu is such a critical part of the site that you want it avaialable for everyone. That's why I also shake my head when I see Flash based menus.
However, there's no need for your solution of a <menu> tag since the <ul> tag and a little CSS already does that just fine.
lol!

Bah, the chicks there are softcore.

How is the OSS community supposed to learn from Microsoft, who keeps everything closed? I'd love to hear this sort of double speak cleared up.

You're gonna have to wait a bit. Even IE 6 doesn't treat XHTML as anything but plain old text/html

Good point. Even the whole "do not leave baggage unattended" is BS since it takes a good 5-10min at least before anyone notices it.

Try domapi, it has a very polished set of JavaScript widgets and version 4 is currently in beta.
According to the stuff I've read the acceleration may decrease quite a bit without abating the expansion of the universe.
Fun fact: The evidence of an accelerating universe is considered conclusive by most cosmologists since 2002. As such, it doesn't look like our universe will be imploding.
Snap! Oh man, I haven't laughed that hard on Slashdot in ages. Somebody give this guy five for funny.

"She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro. You win again gravity!"
I want to see a great movie, not a great special effect.
Kudos!

Maxivista is my new monitor. It's freakin' sweet!
