  1. Re:Isn't morphine still widely used in military? on Australian Ban On Fallout 3 – Why? · · Score: 1

Morphine is a painkiller, thus its military use in cases of injury. It's also a sedative. Take enough and you'll drift in and out of sleep uncontrollably. Except for matters regarding potency-per-amount, half-life and speed of onset, morphine = opium = Vicodin = endorphines = heroin = methadone, etc..

Opiates (those things I listed above) are definitely not performance-enhancing, though. Why exactly they (supposedly) decided to make it a stimulant is beyond me. Just a guess, but maybe their logic is that it allows you to ignore pain, thus continue fighting on.

Iran is a very technologically advanced country, with a world-class higher education system. They're the number one auto maker in the region and, IIRC, have a growing software industry. They're very, very far from a third-world nation. It's scary how warped an idea we Americans have of Iran.

Microsoft's Bill Veghte wrote to customers reiterating that June 30 would be the deadline when Microsoft halts shipments of boxed copies to retailers and stops licensing the operating system directly to OEMs. However, Veghte did leave the door open to all computer makers, even the largest, who want to continue selling new PCs with XP pre-installed. Would somebody please reconcile these two contradictory sentences for me? Thanks.
