I too think it's a clash of cultures, but I think the clash comes from people not grasping what BETA means. I think you'll find that the "unix culture" advocates not to run beta software on production equipment, even if production equipment is just a facebookmachine for your mom.
Well... Firewire works for me. Just because someone have an unsupported card, it don't mean support is pulled. It just means that they should hammer their supplyer of firewire for a driver... You don't have to be stupid to use Windows;-)
If you read TFA, you'll se he spotted.net dependance in the ones he found. If you get.net working under Wine, you would be selling your programming-skills and earning top $'s - not working for some ISP...
I'm not an iTunes user, but as far as I know iTunes is a free download, and probably don't have any anti-piracy stuff included.... Its just bad coding:P
Maby you have missunderstood the cent part? Cent = fractional (usually 1/100) and not the smallest denomination - wich is dollar. Or you could start making milli-dollars (1/1000):P
Or you could start using euro-bucks, like all sane people:D
I'm not shure that trying to render broken HTML would be in the users interest. *You* might like gracefull fails, but to a user it just looks like an ugly page. Look it up in an HCI book - if you got any:P
You'll need an OGG killer-app on Windows to raise demand. Give'em something that automatically converts wma and mp3 to OGG, updates the ID3-Tag info (songz have bad/misspelled ID3) or some other usefull mundane task, and the demand will come:)
Nice. Yet another thing that's got a camera. Soon all my gadgets can play MP3 and take pictures. Camera on the Mobile (can allso play MP3, but low on storage), Camera on the Palm (can play MP3 but have little storage), Camera on the MP3 player (Yes, it do play MP3). So let's scrap BlueTooth and put MP3 and Camera (and the next jippo thingy) into all the stuff we carry!!! That would be sweet......
The Dreamcast is going to beat Indrema in becoming the first open-source (I know, but I want your attention) gameplatform. OpenBSD is, as far as I can tell from the mailing list, near to support the ethernet adapter. NetBSD might be a strange platform for SEGA to have running on it's hardware, since NetBSD's license states that you can redistribute binary only. But once the driver is done, it will also (my guess) be awailable for you Linux guys;) Somebody write an X server for it, and I'm in. (It will even be supported by kylix)

Tried to look at their website, but with all that loading, blinking and moving stuff 14 seconds was all I could endure.
their key servers are down.. do you think they even have stable code for that one?
I think you missunderstand the consept. You pay them by providing them all your email and social network.
Haven't been on /. for a few months now, and I totally understand why when I read the "news"
Even digg does this better by clearly marking their infomercial. Where did 1997 go?

Interesting? You have a totally different scenario that the poster youre refering to...
Muwhahahahaha - or maby just the knife?
It's the videocard that contains the "evil". The IO access from userland is a "rather expedient thing".

You might be old, but don't be bitter for not having found your paradise...
;)
It's out there, you know
AFAIK there is no way of getting KOffice running on a windows box. :P
That's why I stick to OO

Screw you guys, I'm going home....
Muwhahahahaha :D
Totally love Ninjas
Are you a truck?
Huh. for $30 a month i hope it's worth it. I can not check for myself, since the page tells me i've got no flash (And no, I don't want it either:)
Any thoughts?
