Not really. The flaw is in IE and Google's use of CSS exposed it to their users. They were able to change their use of CSS to work around the exploit, but the exploit still remains in IE. Even Microsoft admits that.

Australia is a special case. Nobody lives in the interior. They all live on the coasts. And roads outside the cities are pretty bad, or so I've been told by an Australian visitor. So they have reduced the problem to essentially one dimension.

Having said that, their population is considerably smaller, so it's still a pretty impressive feat. However, because of the way the population is distributed in Australia, you cannot really compare their population density to ours.

They have even shown me articles from online editions of Indian newspapers lamenting the situation. It seems to me that government corruption in India is a very real problem, and until the people there are able to do something about it, it will hamper India's efforts to truly modernize their entire society. Note that I have never been to India, so I don't know any of this first hand. However, as I mentioned, my Indian friends volunteer this information to me. True enough. The problem is that Microsoft is a monopoly, and one that has illegally abused its monopoly position repeatedly. That's where antitrust comes into play. And that's why there need to be external controls placed on Microsoft. If Microsoft behaved more like a good corporate citizen, there would be no need for government intervention. It's their behavior that forces government's hand.
