"Is that an African or European Swallow?" errr, Elk.
Personally, I like the idea of the "running Elk" as a unit of momentum. The fact that it's inherently regionalized just makes it that more charmingly baroque. (Unless you're sweating away in your Physics 101 exam and overlook the bit about fjords in the problem.)
"2) Washed-up pro athletes in long-term contracts? Crap. All major sports athletes are overpaid primadonnas. Paying them millions because they can throw a ball only fuels consumerism. "Did you watch the game on Sunday? Wow!" mindless sheep.."
Actually, this is driven by advertising. Sports bring in viewers. Star athletes sell stuff people. Advertising corrupts anything it touches. (Just look at professional baseball or pop music for prime examples.)
If you really want me to get onboard with whatever program you're peddling, explain how it will increase the number of people working to contribute to my standard of living.
I think you might have a point there. Corporate America has been infiltrated by antiglobalist commies who aim to destroy it from within. That explains SCO perfectly!
I heartily endorse a full employment plan for missle, errr, rocket scientists!
Hell, let's get all those unemployed Russian missle, err, rocket scientists on OUR PAYROLL, too. We should find a way to hire their unemployed nuclear enginneers also. But I have no idea how we can squeeze their biologists onto this plan -- maybe we need a seperate program to cure cancer. Yeaaaaahh, that's the ticket
Better spending the money on indirectly productive uses than pissing it away on some damn war or aid program later.
Kartoo is helpful when you're not having luck with the obvious google searches. You can start with a more broader search, and then use the results it brings up to refine you search. Errr, just go play with it, and you'll see.
By "go away", I take it you also include "turn into useless marktroid-driven flashy pablum". Which would be inevitable with anything MS touches. (Not a slam, just realism here.)
The beauty of google is that is is simple, lightweight and useful to users. (Although they have taken some steps to make them more useful to advertisers.)
I've seen some vauge mentions on some of the news pages about the astronauts on ISS having to retreat to one particular module when the flare hits. But they don't say how long they need to stay there. The last week or so, you'd think they've been holed up an awful lot of the time.
Good point. But I don't think leaving out local storage is going to work very well for a "trusted" general-purpose computer.
Or are trusted architectures by definition not general purpose machines?

Ahhhh crap, I dunno. Probably has something to do with the degree of training and skill involved.

What, i86 isn't a screwed-up enough architecture, Microsoft needs to try their hand at the game?!!!

Oh, wait, maybe that's not a zero-sum game...
They've already developed a simulator!

Heh. You just gave me an idea for a book!

You don't seriously believe that the artists see anything from songs given away for promotional purposes, do you?!!
"I felt a great disturbance in the kazaa, it was like millions of files cried out at once and then were silent..."
Well, spending $7,000 to obtain a net result of $500 isn't too effective...
Oh, wait, that's Microsoft's fault, not Simoniker's. My bad...
Everyone else is just a poser.

Interesting, read section 3, "Meteor Streaks"

I forsee some wacky "CD" format that it will be a DMCA violation to publish details about.
errr... we all worked together to get baby Jessica outta that well! (You cynical bastard, you probably thought I meant a different Jessica )
