    Just think about it. You don`t even know what the heck is "Control Panel", how would you know how to change the refresh rate? I tried to run Windows in an old 14' monitor, and guess what? I had a bad time doing it, because Windows thought my monitor supported 1024x768. It just REFUSED to let me change the resolution. So, I had to plug another monitor, change the resolution, and plug my old one back.

    BTW, I just can't play most of the games in Windows XP, because my Savage4 video isn't very good. Fortunately, I don't buy games I'm not COMPLETELY sure I can run. And, unfortunately, many times, when you can't run something in Windows, you JUST CAN'T, period.

    IMportant question: If Flash costs money,how is it supposed to be a standard? I mean, I'm not the one that's going to pay for it just because Macromedia thinks it's the future. I like Flash sometimes, but it's rather irritating, because, IMHO, it sacrifices the usability of any site just because of some nifty features. I prefer well-organized text and cool graphics.

    BTW, using Flash with any DB is a PITA.

    Man, when I had that obsolete machine like that, KDE took SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much time to load! KDE is VERY heavy too, don't be fooled by some pro-KDE guys. KDE is great, I like it a lot, but it's not even close to a light desktop.

    The worst of all is that the contract I signed didn't have anythinig about that, they just said the limit was 1GB, but they didn't say what they would do after that (so, they couldn't do anything). Then, they told me they would NEVER charge for that. I trusted Virtua, now they are saying like "See how good we are, we are not charging YET!". I will fight in the Justice, because I WON'T pay, because the only contract I got with that limit was the one they sent me AFTER I signed the first one (so, it doesn't have any value at all, there's not my signature there)

    RIAA's next targets:

    - Internet: It allows people to d/l copyrighted files.

    - Computers: They think it's a big problem, because it's an easy way for people do exchange music.

    - Human Being: The main target. Human beings are able to develop new ways to get copyrighted music without their permission, so, everyone should be banished from earth.

    - Earth: All the natural resources for the human being comes from Earth. It's their way to survive. So, RIAA will want to destroy it.

    - Universe: What if some Aliens start "stealing" copyrighted music from RIAA? The whole Universe needs to be destroyed too!

    - THe other dimensions: Someone could get to our dimension and steal our SO-BELOVED copyrighted music. That's a problem too! Let's destroy them all!

    I know they had services available, but not a single paid service. So, they said that was going to be their profit source, . AFAIK, you can get money from services, but not from free services. So, having services doesn't mean Eazel was going to be profitable. It's like Nokia giving away their cell phones, start charging for services, but without offering a paid service at all. It's so obvious that even you, my dear genius, should've noticed.

    Ok, I know they had services. But I'm talking about PAID services! Online storage and software upgrade weren't paid. So, where could they get some money from? PLEASE, think about it, don't just say "you're a retard".

    Let me give you and example. Let's suppose Nokia gives away their cell phones, saying they will generate profit from paid services. It's okay, the cell phones are really cool, there are already free services for it, but not a single paid service. How would they get money from? The same thing happened to Eazel.

    Got it? Try to understand what people mean before saying "You're retard", "So's your momma".

    Nautilus not not vapourware. It's very good, indeed (I like it).

    All I said was that Eazel had to give people services. That was supposed to be their profit source, and you can't just release a software and get money from something that doesn't exist.

    If you say your profit source is XXX, you'll need XXX or else you'll be f***ed up.

    I guess you didn't get it. I didn't say they were doing nothing. In fact. I like Nautilus a lot, and I use Gnome 1.4.

    They said: "we're gonna get money from services!". But they forgot to make such services AVAILABLE, that's the whole point. It wasn't Nautilus the profit source, but its services .

    Please, try to understand what people say before being so rude.

    Because you can get other people's code, but you have to give them something back. If you patent a software, you'll be able to make everyone think your code is free, and after some time you sue everyone using your software for patent infringement.

    So what? Just because it may violate the law it actually restricts my freedom? In fact, it just prohibits you from getting a GPL'ed code, adding some more lines of code and then closing the source, like many people would *LOVE* to do. Doesn't the guy that made the code FREE have any reason to prevent you from doing that?

    The law isn't perfect and it will never be. As a lawyer, you should know about that.

    Mozilla nowadays is doing pretty well rendering web pages. Netscape 6? Yes, it SUCKS BIGTIME, but Mozilla is getting better and better.

    Now, about Netscape 4.x, hehe, it's definitely not standards-compliant. In fact, it's TERRIBLE!

    The main problem is that most of the (incredibly stupid) so-called "Webmasters" just say: Oh what the hell let's make an IE-only page. Then, people area many times FORCED to use IE because of that.

    Well, I work on a company that does that too, but I'm not responsible for that. When people don't care about standards, we have a serious issue... Even if you don't care to wait a little longer for pages to load, those professional Developers do everything for IE. Sometimes webmasters are morons.

    First of all, I don't have $$ to get a RAID or an UPS.

    I was just sick of waiting for fsck to check my system because of a power failure, then watching a Kernel panick and... kaboom! All my data is gone, I couldn't fix it, it was just fscked up.

    I'm using ReiserFS for about 1 year, and I still didn't have a single problem. It's very reliable (at least for me). I'm thinking about trying XFS too, because I like to test new stuff :)

    You're talking about different things here. FSF just thinks closed standards are bad to the software industry, because computers are not cars, You CAN see what's inside your car, and other people MAY fix it. IT IS NOT COMMUNIST, it's just a different concept for software development.

    The Software industry is quite different from the others. FOr example, if Ford had 95% of the market share, and some other company started building cars too, you would have another choice, because there aren't "compatibility problems". I don't have to finish this for you to understand what I mean huh? :)
