Use these: professional hearing protection. $32. Cover your ear buds with them and you can listen to music at low volume as well as block out most noise. I've been doing this for years and it works great. The only drawback is it isn't very stylish, but for the price and performance, who cares.
People who get the death sentence have a very serious debt to society.
Assuming they deserved the death sentence in the first place. There are some pretty frivolous laws in this world that carry the death penalty, not to mention police corruption and wrongful convictions.
I get what you're saying, but it's worth keeping in mind that not all convictions are deserved.
If advertisers want the feature, my guess is it will be implemented. However, would they want to be associated with advertising based on hatred for someone or something? If the language were softened to ~"not interested", then perhaps.
That should be on the xbmc front page. I discovered as much after installing all the build dependencies and compiling/installing from source. What I really want is something focused on streaming over my wireless network. No gui front-end necessary. Something that can give me a quick selection of _legal_ shows I can download and watch.
It's only a big deal now because only a minority are caught doing stupid things on camera. Once everyone is caught doing stupid things regularly, say a few generations from now, my guess is people will stop caring. "Senator Crenshaw dances around his house naked wearing bunny slippers? Meh."
Why is the default download type a "live" CD? Choosing "Applications -> Install to hard drive" doesn't seem at all intuitive.
Granted, I installed on a virtual machine which kicked Fedora into "fallback mode" (no display drivers yet) on first boot so maybe that prevented a dialog from displaying.
If you don't care too much about mobility, this laptop has a full keyboard, large screen, proper cooling so the fan doesn't whine like a MacBook under load, and performs well:
Only check your email once or twice an hour to avoid distraction. Get a good headset for Skype audio/video calls. Schedule a weekly call with your boss and another with the team. Be comfortable. You will need exercise as you'll be getting significantly less of it now that you've no commute or large office to walk around in. Eat right, not too much caffeine. Take a lunch break and a couple of coffee breaks like you would at the office. Above all, be alert to imbalances in your work or personal life as a result and be sure to correct them.
Air Miles has been enticing people to spend their money differently for years. A personal example: instead of buying 1 loaf of bread, I might buy 4 loaves of bread in order to get the "50 bonus Air Miles" offered on that item, or spend over $100 in one transaction to get some other air miles bonus.
Real news comes from the internet.
Yeah, but how much of it matters or is actionable. I spend a good part of my day catching up with the latest news online all for what purpose? It's starting to feel pointless. Too much naval-gazing, not enough action.
So it is true - they don't bake the stuff fresh on-site. You can tell in the lack of taste, so I'm not at all surprised. And yes, supermarket donuts taste just as bad.:)
Luckily, Boston Cream donuts still taste good - the filling overpowers the donut taste. Just watch the icing - Tim Horton's is notorious for making it stick to the bag it comes in. Good thing donuts aren't their main business. *rolls eyes*
The article author sounds like they have a big chip on their shoulder. I didn't both reading past the 10^100 section.
We all know Google isn't perfect, but beating them to death as if they are expected to be perfect is just pointless.
The car should "know" where the road is, based on previous driving history either of itself or other cars, or detailed map data. Also, I would expect the car's spatial awareness to be better than the average driver's so it wouldn't get confused as easily. Good point, though!
Watch that for awhile and imagine someone's brakes or tires instantly failing, not to mention a computer freeze (that never happens, right?). I think computers are going to have to be a bit more cautious than a lot of people here are speculating.
Ask yourself: How large of an area do you want them to secure - out to the parking lot? What about terrorists who dive into the parking lot screening area? And so on..
I don't agree with a lot of what they do, but I think a lot of us here (including myself) need to educate ourselves a little more on the subject.
The only way the governments are going to monitor this is if they crack every possible key, and/or get that quantum computer thing going.
The spammers will be all over this in due time: install a trojan onto people's computers that looks for darknets and start automatically sharing malware and/or adding the spammer's account to the list of trusted friends. If the spammers can do it, the government/big business can do it.

Those sites are to Facebook as dailywtf is to coding. Nice!

If you don't care for touchpads, you can still attach a mouse.
Yes, exactly. Everybody wins. I guess for some people, Blizzard is damned if they do, damned if they don't.
"Fun fact: As of 2010, the average number of hours spent playing WoW each week in America is 22.7"
Over 3 hours per day is average? No wonder I get my arse kicked in PvP. ;)

“Obviously users need to know where their data is going,” he said, “and we take every measure to protect user privacy.”
Yet another phrase that has lost all meaning.

I wonder how that got misquoted in the first place...
Enough has been spent focusing on finding life outside out planet. Let's colonize space already! We can look for life once we get there.

I immediately thought of "The Fonz" from Happy Days when I saw this story. Now we can all be cool.

So you're saying it just looks inedible? That changes things...

What other tools for generating Apps are out there? That would be good to publish somewhere if it hasn't been done already.
