CLE266 does not do MPEG 2 decoding it does MPEG 2 acceleration.
I am about to begin work on a ubuntu derivative that has CLE266 support built in. Hang out on the unichrome list for more help on getting your working.
No, it isn't a good example of how to deal with the issue. It is a good example of confusing licencing policy.
At least back in 1997 all was clear to me - MySQL was not free for commercial use. How many licencing changes have they had since then? In that same period PostgreSQL has had zero (0) licencing changes.
In addition to Bill's reasoning, which I don't entirely follow...
You are very generous. The guy does not have a gramme of common sense. And do you really believe that living as he has over the last few years that he is still in touch with a mere mortals financial reality...
Yes. I wrote to the French MEP who is on employment and international trade comitees and who is my political color.
In reply I was forwarded a press statement that says
1. It isn't over _we_ haven't decided. 2. What is with the notion that the process is undemocratic. We the parliment decide and everything that has gone before is normal procedure. 3. Patents can only be applied to software that is part of hardware. Business logic can not be patented.
NOTE this is my reading of a press statement in French and in politician language.
Now I bet that it will take a lot longer than those trying to push patents on everything under the sun would like. And I hope that in the end basic programming ideas and business logic will not be covered by patents in Europe as this political group says in its PR.
And, if you like, you can build crappy software on top of EJB, Tomcat, Apache, LAMP, etc. Why are you blaming.NET?
Because it is a migration. The forum went from running on CF to.NET. It went from not sucky to sucky. The administrator told me they had used migration tools. I would stay away from them if possible after looking at this example.
Because I can have my Quartz apps and I can have Netbeans and Apache and Postgresql and OpenOffice.org and Tomcat and... all that stuff running on Apple X11... Best of both worlds. Can't be beat.
recently migrated to.NET. The server admin seems happy but the user experience sucks big time. I never thought I would say something nice about Cold Fusion but the forum certainly was more user friendly running under that.
has Windows powered ticket vending machines. I stopped using them completely when one crashed just after my Visa card had been debited and before I got my tickets. This is NT4 powerd
My bank has W2000 ATM and it blue screens at least twice a week.
I wish I had gone from FC1 to FC2. Doing a clean install of FC3 was a major mistake. udev is a good reason to use Debian based systems because lots of devices aren't ready for it yet (my remote and DVB card for example). And I want to watch TV today not in six months. Staying with FC1 was not an option because of HW mpeg 2 acceleration.
Fact of life. People (yuck) often want to touch books! Books as we know hold _KNOWLEDGE_ as well as _HIS WORD_ and are thus sacred things that should be cared for by librarians and touched as little as possible by people.
I think most blogs suck too, while not being a librarian myself...
You can get Bskyb subscriptions in Paris of the shelf in most shops that sell satellite dishes. You are paying the subscription. You get the card with the codes. It is legal.
Are you paying a Swedish TV licence? Then your equipment is legal. The licence is a tax that you pay in the country that you live in that entitles you to watch TV in that country. There is no mention of where the signal has to come from...
I pay a French licence and watch BBC free to air satellite broadcasts every day of the week. If the BBC wants money for that then they can cut a deal with the French govt. Or stop broadcasting free to air...
I (who live in the other country with all those things) have taken to watching cooking programs on the Beeb and am very impressed! The attitude to food has changed and your cooks are much more inventive. They don't have a cultural heritage that prevents them from weird improvisation.
The only thing with the women is that most of them don't seem to be watching the same cooking programs as I... Or eating the same food. But they are not quite as wide as American women...
As for the weather - cheer up! With Americans taking care of global warming you will soon have your very own Riviera. Get the women to learn to cook and eat better food quick! I have seen them on our beaches and they don't hold up well to local competition (or the Dutch girls).
You aren't looking in the right place. 800 Mhz is the fastest fanless machine off the shelf but 1Ghz is possible (hush, tranquilPC) and home brew.

Guess which one I use...
No, but he has sent in his job application form! I think he would be a good recruit for de-orbiting Hubble.
Oh sure!
France said no and you stopped eating French fries and drinking red wine?
Can other countries in the world do it their way without risking an army of occupation (think Iran)?

fsck Microsoft!
xcdroast is my GUI of choice
I have been using on Linux and on Mac for well over 2 years.
It also supports firewire. No firewire support noted on the Nero page...

The free limited Linux version is all I have ever needed up till now. I am about to design a hous for my family so we will see how it goes.
Me too I am wondering.

Hey Intel show us the motherboard. Show us the chipset that runs cool enough to not melt down the plastic case.
Jeez even VIA couldn't get a board AND an optical drive into the Mac case...

Sip for me was something one did with wine until this useful definition.
Ubuntu isn't user friendly?
Debian has many faces.
I am!
After having used Redhat since 1997 I'm looking at Debian based systems such as Ubuntu to get my hardware working again.
Two examples: USB pen drives. With Ubuntu you just plug it into the hub and it is recognised. Lirc, can't get it to work since I "upgraded" to FC3.
Sorry not legal?

Microsoft? Isn't that the company with a huge number of employees with large IQs and no common sense?
