Instead of locking out a cheater, a better solution is to continue to feed data to that cheater, but ignore any results they submit. This will help prevent the cheater from simply creating a new account, as they will be unaware that their false results have been detected.
I think my favorite part of the preview is when the guy gets thrown into the back window of the car, and the window breaks before he hits it. Quality movie... quality movie.
It was staying in orbit because of the Earth's gravitational pull. It's take a lot of energy to give it enough boost to escape that gravitational pull.
I think it's funny that the only people willing to bash RPI did it as anonymous cowards. Anyway, I went to RPI. It's a decent school. I know there are better, I'm sure there are worse... but the environment there gives you enough freedom to really learn what you want to learn, and not deal with the stuff you don't want to deal with. There's some brilliant people there, and like any school there's some complete retards... but like most places, if you're able to seek out the truly brilliant people, you can learn a lot from them. I'd like to think that's what I did in my four years there.
Anyway, whatever the school is missing... at least now we can afford to buy it.
Most EULAs state the they can be changed at any time. The idea is that if a change is made, then you have the option of not continuing to use the service. I'm not sure whether the clause regarding non-sale of items was in there from the start, but if it was added at a later date, then allowing users to sell their virtual belongings seems a valid way to allow them to exit, and gain some value from the time and money they have invested in creating those entities.
The author had reached "a Zen-like stage"?
She "knew that [she] would love Geology 101"?
She was "engaged in a serious game of tic-tac-toe with the girl sitting next to [her]"?
Well, if she was so into Geology, why the fuck was she playing tic-tac-toe? And why the fuck hadn't she see "The Sixth Sense" yet? It's an awesome movie!
You wouldn't think so... until you saw my friend dive into a kiddie-pool off of a card-table after 6 hours of drinking. Of course, it was a Samsung, not a Motorola, but he let the thing dry, and it was just like new.
I saw an interview with Moby once. He was talking about how he was once opposed to his songs being used in car commercials because they stood for everything he was against. He's not changed his stance... and every dime he makes from his songs being used for products he's ethically opposed to, he donates back towards a cause that fights the existence of those products. So even if Compaq still owned AltaVista (which apparently they don't) the revenue generated from them displaying their banner on this site could serve the greater cause by informing the thousands of readers on this site about the negative impact that that company or other companies may have on the industry. I guess it's just another way of looking at it.
"Come on! You're NASA for Christ's sake! You're the ones who come up with this shit! Why I bet you have a bunch of guys sitting around somewhere right now just thinking shit up, and somebody backing them up."
I don't really see how either definition works.
...the more they stay the same.
This was first posted in December as the Half Keyboard.
Sometimes I think Daikatana would have been a better game if they actually HAD shipped coasters instead of the CD.

The small lines are where you folded the photos a couple times. The bigger lines are where you folded it a whole lot of times.
Maybe this'll put a damper on the flood of AOL discs that keep coming my way.
Doesn't this take us back to the 0-click shopping patent?
Because our children would all have three eyes and eleven ears with all those radio-waves zapping into our laps.

The ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon has that built in ... and it's a relatively inexpensive card.

Well the CDDB is user-created as well, isn't it? So to combat the use of this, couldn't users just flood the CDDB with inaccurate information?
Yeah, I think your sig says it all.
Maybe the people on the west-coast will have an easier time. "Eastern Eggs?".

That's a dumb story.

I find it ironic that the banner at the top of the page that this story was on was a banner for the AltaVista Search Engine.
If I had come to your house I would've grabbed your Omnibot's candy, and then I would've grabbed your Omnibot.
Dylan!
