I'm sure if US Airlines put wireless Ethernet on planes it will be just as affordable as the phones that they currently have. Probably like $4.99/minute or something like that, and they probably will have a shared 14.4Kbps uplink.
(sarcasm on)
I guess Microsoft should have implemented the clustering feature available for Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Therefore they would be almost assured of 100% uptime.
(sarcasm off)
I thought with W2K advanced server, downtime was a thing of the past?
Microsoft thought that they were big enough that they could just crush Sun. I think with Sun doing all of the Windows Java implementations, Sun is working on getting the power to crush Microsoft. I hate hearing people talk about "If Java takes off" or "If Java is a success". The Java programming language is taught in almost every university, and some high schools. Java is the fastest growing programming language, and C# (a rip-off of Java) won't stop that momentum.
Your Career... Once you look at the windows source code, you will be ashamed to be a programmer and never be able to write a line of code again. If not, they might offer you a job, because you probably graduated from DeVry or ITT Tech.
Lets not forget the other costs too:

I get digital cable and get roughly 200 Basic/Premium channels, plus like a million pay per view channels. If GTE (Verizon) could offer that kind of service, I would switch to it instantly. Time Warner's service is horrible, and now that AOL has merged with them it will probably get worse. But I guess now that GTE, and all of them merged I guess their service is going to get worse too (like 1 month for DSL).
I got an idea, just put like 4 little baggies full of a white powder in there, or maybe some chopped up parsley in there...:-) Can you imagine what would happen if the post office opened it...:-)
I wonder how much better the windows "Tada" sound or "Ding" sound will sound with THX? Really, who watches movies on their PC? Hmmmmmmmm, 19" computer monitor or 43" TV....(Hard Choice)
Does I don't think it has a graphics card, and that is why an ANSI terminal is required. What sun should do is have an X-server run on startup, so that you can login using X from a PC, or another Sun Box.
I can imagine this being useful, especially if they can paint a car with some sort of light deadening material. It would render laser speed detection devices obsolete. These days with radar detectors, police radar is becoming obsolete. This could do the same with the laser devices. But then the cops just might say screw it and lobby congress to install computer chips in everyone's car that automatically sends the speed to a reciever on the side of the road....
When it comes to privacy, we are our own biggest enemy. When someone asks for personal information that you don't think they should be getting, just tell them that you are not willing to give out that information. When I get asked for a phone number, and I don't want to be thrown on a mailing list, I just tell them (800) 555-1212 (I get some really interesting looks when I use this one) or an old pager/cell phone number. I don't enter contests, because that is where most mass mailing lists get their information from. A 1/5,000,000 chance of winning Super Bowl tickets, isn't worth telling the whole world my e-mail address, telephone number, and home address.
How about copyrighting your personal data, and at the bottom of each form you fill out put the line.

I wonder if you could sue a company for copyright infringement, if they violate that statement.:-)
What about CSS? Does this device have a Region Code? From what I understand, Region Codes are required to view DVDs. If so then it would be useless to try to send a DVD home movie to family in another country...
The success of this device ultimately depends on how much it is going to cost. I have a feeling that it will be introduced at a price comparable to HDTV, and therefore would be out of the price range for "Joe 6-Pack". I personally don't know anyone with an HDTV in their house, and it will probably be the same with the DVD camcorder.
With regards to skip protection. I have a 5 year old Alpine CD player in my car, and it never skips. I could be doing 45 over a speed bump, and it won't skip. I know they have portable DVD players already, and I'm sure that they have the technology to prevent skipping.
No more drawing on the back of an envelope.

I hope IBM has some sort of easy retrieval system for this, so that you can pull things up really easy. A Netscape Plugin or something would be really cool.
Remember when Intel was talking trash about Sun. I bet they wish they could take atleast some of it back. With the increase in popularity of Network Appliances (especially Cobalt), Intel just lost a wonderful outlet for their processors. I see Solaris for Athlon coming in the near future. If Intel doesn't want to play ball, AMD will.... I see AMD slowly destroying Intel's market share in servers, because of Intel's relationship with Microsoft. If I was AMD, I would get in good with SUN, IBM, and all Linux dists. Hopefully *NIX will reign supreme.
I think that as long as you have the $50,000, you should be able to register a TLD. If it takes off, good for you, and if not... You shouldn't have to ask, you should just be able to buy your way in. Isn't this America? When you register your TLD, then you are responsible for all of the name-resolution. So what if someone wants to register.motherf__ker, or.kiss-my-ass, or.microsoft....:-)
Only in America do we take old passenger jets, and turn them into a flying laser cannon. I just hope that they program the tracking system correctly. God forbid it locks onto a passenger jet by accident. This weapon must be huge in order for it to require a 747, especially with a crew of 6. Hopefully they engineer in a lot of legroom.
I don't see any development, they are just going to use existing systems. Microsoft Windows, Dell's Wintel Hardware, and Unisys to do what ever Unisys does. I can just imagine the future of the free world riding on the back of Wintel Servers. I can just see it right now..... Just make sure an election worker doesn't open a file called A_Love_Letter_For_You.vbs. On the software side I see the typical microsoft overkill, once you step upto the machine it will ask you if you want to play an MP3, and open a web browser. I personally don't have any problem with the Vote-a-matics (I live in Florida), When I voted in the last election I verified that my Presidential, and Senate votes were properly punched out, and they were. If someone can't properly use a vote-a-matic, I'm almost positive that they won't be able to use a computerized voting system. My grandmother still doesn't trust ATM machines.
Another example of our tax dollars hard at work. The father doesn't probably never cared about the child, and where it is. Birthfathers, aren't necessarily the dad. Good luck in your adoption.
I think that companies that falsely report debts should have to pay the victim of thier mistake. Luckily I haven't had any past credit problems, but I've heard reparing inaccuracies can be a pain. What really worries me is all of these Pre-approved credit card applications that get sent in the mail. I move a lot as a student, and I worry that whoever lives in an apartment that I just left will see all of the credit applications, and find out that I have good credit (USPS isn't really good at forwarding mail), and try to get a Credit Card in my name.
Also, I don't understand where past criminal activity such as misdemenors have anything to do with credit, or with future employment. I believe that employers should be able to find out about felonies, but if you got drunk when you were 19, and stupidly drove home, you shouldn't be banned from working at a nice job for the rest of your life...

Print off some pr0n from the Internet (the more perverted the better), and enclose a picture or two in every Postage Paid Return envelope. :-)

What about the second side. DVDs have two sides. The capacity of one side is 2.8GB, the capacity of both sides combined is actually 4.7 GB.
