  1. What is IT? on What is 'IT'? · · Score: 1

The Clausius statement of the second law of thermodynamics: It is impossible to construct a device which when operating in a cycle, will produce no effect other than the transfer of heat from a low temperature reservoir to a high temperature reservoir without external aid (work being done on IT).

Corollary: It is impossible not to assemble a team (of software 'professionals') which when operating in a cycle (of software release or anything else), will produce no effect other than the transfer of software from a 'Bug-less, microscopic memory imprint' state to a 'Buggy Bloatware' state , consuming work (lots of IT) in the process.

Now you know what IT is.

No, it's not. The idea of quantum computing is to have bits which are 0 and 1 at the same time.

From what I've read/discussed, what you mention relates to the basic quantum computer being built. The ideal quantum computer uses 32 possible values (the 32 states of an electron) as the person you replied to mentions.
The ideal quantum computer should be able to perform computations in time dt=0 seconds.

The Govt. does not have much to cheer for and neither do we.
To steer our (read everyone) attention from their screw-ups, the govt is hyping Information Technology and "Indians are so darn good at it" kind of crap.
The whole thing is a scam

Really intelligent Indians rarely work in the IT sector (yep - thats what they call it). Most of the geniuses do research etc. e.g. I know this guy who is 23 and he is an authority on the butterflies found in the Indian subcontinent. Mehta is a DUMB ASS SUIT.
He knows very little of computers (from what I kno w of him) but manages to be clicked with the right people in the right places.

India is hiring 15-19 year olds who say they can break into a computer in five minutes to install firewalls and configure servers? The only reason I could see to hire some 16-19 year old 'hackers' is to get cheap and semi-knowledgable labor.

They don't pay them much except paying for their internet costs (which are pretty high in India).
The people in charge are b'crats (read idiots).
The real HACKERS (take the meaning mentioned in the Jargon File Jargon) don't work or associate themselves with the GOVT.
Most of them go to institutes like the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, IISc Banglore et al.

    Your suggestion seems flawed.
Basically, kids are too small and immature to understand what is best for them.
At the same time, the teacher might feel something is best for the kid, but it may seem totally irrelevent to someone else.
I think I was similar to you (going by your description) when I was a child. I hated everyone, but I kept doing my own stuff while doing what others did too. I played 9 different sports and yet I knew quite a bit of Quantum Mechanics and Special Relativity by the 7th grade.
It isn't too difficult to pick anything up anytime later. But you are a child only once. You must experience evey emotion before you grow up.
Unless the kid plays sports, watches TV (some), interacts with other kids his age, he is going to miss a lot of those emotions. He won't be 'balanced'.
He may not understand it now, but he will later.
Besides, he can always continue doing what he likes (like I continued reading Physics and Biology).
Unless he's mature enough to make his own decisions, his guardians/parents must make sure he gets to feel every emotion including pain and anguish - its very important.

About the topics, I'd suggest QUANTUM MECHANICS / FIELD THEORY / COMPUTING. I am against teaching him computers because I feel it will restrict his intellectual abilities to computers only. Teach him a little of everything - Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Math, English, His mother tongue (or father tongue depending on where you are), History, Geography - the works. Teach him all a normal child not necessarily his age would learn. It will help develope him further. Who knows, the kid may be better at literature than anything else. Teach him everything you can at his pace. Just make sure he's enjoying it and knows what enjoyment means. Make sure he doesn't burn out.
