I can't imagine such a dongle could be cheaper than picking up a really cheap and nasty keyboard. Here in the UK, you can regularly get keyboards for 2GBP
And if you STILL don't want a keyboard I'm sure you could figure out how to make your own "dongle" by hacking off the ps/2 connector from the keyboard and shorting out the wires. That way when the BIOS tests it, it sees something there.
I'd test this by plugging a mouse into the keyboard port and seeing is it still boots. If so just build your own. This has the added benefit of being about $20 cheaper than any adapter I've ever seen.
no kidding. I dunno if it was worthy of a slashdot article. Perhaps it should have been posted in the sysadmin blunders (follow link in sig). Still, it was funny to read about all his screwups.
Seriously, how hard is it to remove those phone numbers from your list? Like I said, we were one of the early adopters, so it's not like they don't know.
Apparently an earlier post was buried. To see how easy it is
I dunno how they got this many violations, unless they were already using one of the very few loopholes (ie pre/ex customer). I built the do-not-call for my company (a newspaper*) and it took me all of 2 days to build and code the php. It's really simple to understand I wish I could show you how easy it is, but it's got a password.
The way it works is there is 2 postgres databases, one for local do-not-calls (the people we called who told us to bugger off) and the national list (the people who told everyone to bugger off**). The php searches the local list first, as it's faster and more strict as we can't call anyone on that list for any reason, if the number isn't found it then searches the national list, if the number is found there we cannot call them unless they were at one point a customer with us (and there is a big red dialog that explains that on the page).
follow the logic? The phone reps _must_ lookup every number everytime they call out. Since starting the DNC we havn't had 1 single violation.
at first I thought, "hey, maybe it's their hosting provider or some odd proxy thing" but if you cick on netblock owner, only their domains are listed there.
Free speech applies to everybody, and that includes neo-Nazis and racists
I agree to a point. As long as they don't infringe on other peoples rights their rights should be upheld. What would you recommend be done with
this guy?
there should be a line somewhere should there not? Go read the reviews of this book. It's scary shit.
the 386 was also the most dominant platform of it's day and one that linux was originally written on. As for the Beboxes we're talking what, a few thousand that were sold? and none since '97, and no more new coming....ever. Yellowtab does not have the Be source, most of what they are working on was written, or rewritten by them. A simple TARGET is not an option. It's a rumor that yellowtab actually has the be source. If you read the history page over at yellowtab you will see that palm bought be and closed the door on yellowtab, meaning no source. Palm has it that's it. Expecting a small company to port it's OS onto a dead platform that only ever sold a few thousand is silly.
Don't get me wrong, I thought Be was the wave of the future a few years ago, and the beboxes are one of the coolest computers ever made, I certainly wouldn't develop for them either.
while it's not ppc based this company does make it's own systems. Why on earth would you develop for a platform whose CPU topped out 5 years ago(+?) at 133Mhz? I agree they were bad-ass, but that's just bad business. It would be bad idea to develop it for the bebox. Even Be themselves had a timeline laid out for abandoning it.
hey I didn't estimate, I just did the math, it seemed pretty high too me also. I imagine some barges weight that much so how would you get it off of that island to whomever bought it?
Translation: We know best about how to organize your files. We don't understand why you need a deep directory hierarchy, so we'll make it hard for you to use it.
Translation: the new nautilus ain't so spatial after all.
YOu guys need to posting this in the JE in my sig. This is hysterical stuff.
hehe ya, it was more of a dig at the whole vi/emacs thing.
you left out vi, nano, pico, ed, and for you zealots, emacs.

The first thing I thought of when I read the announcement last week (Monday???) was the Font DA mover. Man I feel old now.

. sandiego
alt.binaries.0d4y.wArEz
or something not to america centric
alt.binaries.wArEz.where.in.the.world.is.carmen
ya i tried booting the livecd but it bluescreened immediatlly while trying to apparently divide something by zero.
;-) I do wish it well (I also wish it worked on my machine).
At least it's an accurate clone
You think that remake is bad? how about these? spidey

I know. That why I said that ;-)

I'd like to see it, but unfortunately their IIS webservers couldn't handle the crunch.
I'd swear by openoffice, but I'm still waiting for it to finish loading.

There are still plenty of VC's around
No kidding! You even tried Baystar? They will apparently invest in anything.
That's 99 Euros. If I could only get a euro for a dollar.
.biz site went down while I was filling out the /. form. I tried to recall from memory and thought it said $99. oops

not $100,000 for shipping, it could WEIGH 100,000KG as in kilograms. As in 220,500 lbs (ish).
don't forget that SCO owns linux. A lot of these will run netbsd though ;-)
