Most people don't get so into a game where they want action figures and cloth maps hanging around the house.
See, I think that might be part of the reason people don't buy video games anymore. I don't get excited about most games. I only buy a few games a year because I have limited funds, and prefer to get my money's worth. If I do actually buy a game, its because I am excited about it, and I wouldn't mind getting a few perks for my purchase. Example, Neverwinter Nights came with a cloth map and a really nice book. That made me feel more confident in spending my money. I also like the packaging for Blizzard games.
I have never owned a car that was less than 5 years old when I purchased it. My first car was 15 years old when I was 16, my second car was 11 years old when I was 17. My current vehicle is now approaching 14 years old. In that same period of time I've owned 4 computers.
None of these things were "worn out" when I got rid of them. With the cars, they just became such a maintenance issue, a car payment with fewer repairs was actually cheaper than fixing the car every other week. The computers are cheaper and easier to fix, so I still keep them arround.
It would be nice if they broke XP into Home and Pro in this... I run Pro and it works great. On the other hand, I've had some really bad experiences with XP Home.
Its simple... if you are responsible with firearms, people won't get hurt. If you are an idiot... people will get hurt. My family has kept guns for years, safely and responsibly. Keeping a loaded handgun in your nightstand drawer isn't safe OR responsible.
These posts are all offtopic anyway... the original post wanted methods that WOULD NOT cause harm. He was looking for a way to "scare off" would-be criminals, not kill them.
who says they are going to complicate the iPod. perhaps they are just looking to the engineers from the iPod group to come out with a NEW device. they did a great job designing the iPod, now maybe they will design a great video device.
I like this idea, but see a problem... he might not be able to boot from that CD.
I worked for the computer department at a university once. We made sure that every computer was set to boot only from the internal hdd as a security measure. I wouldn't be surprised to find that most institutions do the same.
exactly... after reading the question, I went straight to TUCOWS and found that program in a matter of about 2 minutes. TUCOWS is an excellent resource. Go there, bookmark it. I use it frequently since I work at a non-profit org. They don't have much money, so I get to use ALOT of free software.
I'be been beta testing as well. I have been experiencing the same problems. The few times i have actually played the game haven't exactly been promissing.

I'm a big fan of a book called Damned Lies and Statistics
Had to read it for a GIS related statistics class... pretty good stuff.
