I have a Toshiba tablet and I love it... as for everyone that tells you to get a laptop... IT IS A LAPTOP, there is nothing that I can do on my laptop that I can't do on my Tablet.... plus I love being able to sketch out database diagrams during meetings... a feature that they don't really talk about is that is also has voice recognition, wouldn't recommend it for dictation, but when you you are laying in bed it is nice for "Open Browser".. "Slashdot".. "Page Down".. "Page Down"... all from a natural laying position... no weird laptop angles.
Sounds like the movie Phenomenon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117333/) to me... great powers and whatnot, but then you only get laid once and die of a brain tumor... no thanks.
There is a lot of improvement needed in the human interaction of fast food employees with that as well. That said... I agree, I like the bank teller example very much. Provide me with an option of automation as well as a human. I can then decide. 90% of the time I will probably go the automated route when I need something standard, but when I need something above and beyond the functions of the machine, I can talk to the "teller" at whatever job. This may mean that there will be a loss of jobs whos roll is being completed by the machine, but it also means the copany will have more money and be able to pay the "teller" better so they can afford to hire someone with a brain. So who loses? The lazy people who are replaced by the automation, but not either educated enough to be "tellers" or just to damn lazy to do it... and I am talking about common knowledge eduction, not a degree or anything. So lazy people lose... I am all for it.
See... I would pay up to about 50 dollars a month to have free access to reading those books online... I guess the problem would be printing them out and redistributing them. Perhaps maybe just manuals... I am so sick of shelling out 50 bucks so I can read 5 pages about some topic knowing I will never read the rest of the book. Love the web... information is free... hate the web... information is not reliable and all over the place.:(
So if I showed someone a picture, I wouldn't be sharing that with them? Even though I maintain the ability to see it myself?
I don't think anyone will argue with you that downloading/uploading software that you don't own isn't illegal, I think it is more to point out that the solution to the problem is ridiculous. If I was a software manufacturer, basically it shows that sales model (and licensing for that matter) leaves something to be desired. I am not sure what the solution is, but it seems that people A) Don't want to go to stores B) don't want to wait for packages from online shopping C) simply can't afford the software they want to use. Perhaps maybe some incrimental usage fee. 10 cents everytime you use the software... or buy it for 50 bucks and never pay again. It will be a bitch to work, but throwing people in jail is not the answer.
What is it always assumed that I am not sharing my own creations. Yes that it is probably a safe assumption for lik 99.9% of the population, but I don't personally have the bandwidth at home to even try to share software.
More specifically, the bill targets peer-to-peer file trading, an aide working for the congressmen said. The law is meant to keep up with changing technology.
Wow... that only took a few years. When is the government going to realize they do not have the organizational ability to keep up with changing technology. By the time this comes into effect, there will be something else that falls outside the law. Instead of freaking out and trying to jail everyone, perhaps embracing the technology and finding a way to work with it may be a better cause.
They key here is to make sure that someone comes up with a car audio player that plays mp3 in this format.... I was starting to get concerned with ONLY having 200 songs available per disk!
Although he can't design software worth sh*t,
Bill Gates is an intelligent business man and
everyone knows the first rule of business is
never directly attack your competitors, you
only piss off their customers....
Secondly, in this so called letter, "Bill"
states that whole "I never trust anyone who
only talks about the benefits of one product
being the lack of bugs that exist in other" crap,
yeah, and then he is going to write an entire
email saying garbage about open source.
Maybe someone can write a some type of web interface to purchase the shares that will only sell to those who are on a Linux operating system.
A) Let those who deserve it get the first shot
B) Let those who deserve it make some money off those stuffed shirts who need us to buy shares on their behalf:)
It is one thing to try and change your homepage for some free client you download (i.e ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger... etc.) Hey, you downloaded their software... for free... and they are trying to get something out of it. But these people are PAYING money every month for the crappy service and then AOL is shoving this content down their throat?... UNFAIR, but hey, its a business... I guess if you don't like it, get off!
Hmmmm... ok, I know enough about Mars... how about pluto! Read below!
Sign this petition to tell NASA that it is wrong to cancel its exploration of Pluto. Right now Pluto's orbit places it in a prime location for fast accesibility. If we miss this oportunity it will take a much longer period of time to explore the planet. I think one of the criteria may have been "worst photo"

Guess we should stop teaching our kids that sharing is good....
Funny.... numbers always had gender for me.

On the site it says they will ship April 23.... they may not put it up on the ftp site until then.
