It'd be cool if they opened up the ipod firmware, I imagine we'd have all kinds of cool hacks out in no time. I cant complain though, Apple keeps increasing the ipod's versatility with each update.
Why not just restart them? I just think if apple is to be serious about unix they should also be serious about some of the more compelling factors of it's use ie stability, reliability. I do understand though that for the average user it's probably the easier route to take.
What about spec benchmarks? I know ppc is a fast chip but I just dont think it's as fast as it used to be. Along with moto's reluctance to put out literally anything lately makes me very concerned about the future of the chip. There's only so many ways you can repackage year old technology, apple.. aside from the xserve is struggling in the hardware department. The price goes up but the performance doesn't. That being said, I own a 933g4 powermac, I bought it about three months ago, it's system bus is slower than the pc system I built last year, just a bit discouraging.
Look at the top of the bandwidth food chain and you'll see why things cost so much. Teleco's have their lines locked down and can pretty much extort however much they feel like, especially when busineses are now at the point where the internet and networks are essential to compete. Along with the high cost for the proper infrastructure hardware to keep things running smoothly and allow for growth. It's a very slow moving animal but it constantly creeps forward.
Not only are nvidia drivers stable, but they squeeze every last drop of performance they can out of their cards on a consistant basis. ATI's drivers dont realize 100% of the potential performance of the hardware, why would I buy such a beast of a card if it effectively has a governor on it.
Did you notice that wc3 was a little more expensive than other games on the shelf? I wonder if the expense in time and resources for porting to mac were responsible for the slight price increase. If so I wouldnt mind paying the extra cost for the ability to play future/other games on all my machines. Especially on my mac though.
qt6 with divx problems on my system (green interlaced lines), I resorted to using vlc, though I have to use it in thousands of colors as opposed to millions.
There are times when a deep seeded creepy feeling comes over you, when someone decides to hijack your project and roll it downhill. This is one of those times.

I'm usually frustrated that adobe doesnt add anything new/useful to their "upgrades" interface changes etc etc the only appealing thing from 6 to 7 for me was the healing brush.
I drove a z3 for a while, and the only thing i miss over the 323i that I drive now is the incredible precision of the steering and the horsepower, it's a point and mash the gas experience that I wont soon forget. That said if you're gonna get a z you might as well go with the m roadster, it'll spank that s2000. I too considered an s2000 I still am, but it's an awful lot of work to drive with a tach that goes to 9k you cant expect a smooth torque curve in a "low emissions vehicle" I've driven the older vtec integra's (gsr? gst?) and you only start having fun above about 4000 rpm in that car. Anyhow, yeah, I own a 933 g4 too.
I thought the redeeming part of that battle was the way yoda equipped himself with the lightsaber. I also wasnt prepared to see the dark lightning, I was pretty surprised at that.
Yes but you dont go editing config files or reading obtuse docs to do it and it doesnt take you more than one try, you click on install.exe reboot and click a few more times. Big difference from asking grandma to know her monitors vertical refresh rate.
File the geforce item under - reasons why linux wont be commercially succesful on the desktop for quite some time. If it takes more than 30 minutes to make work or install, joe schmoe aint gonna do it.
lilo wants to be paid to irc.
Funniest comment...ever.

Why does this update require a reboot?

Amazon is offering a $50 mail in rebate for jaguar as part of a back to school promotion. Looks legit to me *shrug*

if this were an answer on jeopardy the question would be "what is crap that will never penetrate the market?"

The tendency to blindly worship things like google/linux/linus/transmeta is far too common on this site.
Yeah! *looks around* Fuck Transmeta!

The problem lies in that when people are anonymous they tend to cheat more because they know they can get away with it without any consequences.
also the latest version of winamp has the ogg plugin out of the box.
Too bad debian doesnt enjoy any kde 3.x release...yet.
using adodb for mysql is almost funnier, if they have abstracted code why not use a more robust db?

Any plane trip requires my laptop and a fresh dvd for an in flight movie, it'll drive the guy sitting next to you nuts.
Oh man, that's funny. Where are those mod points when you need them.
