*beep* Didn't work./. don't take underscores in this URL for an unknown reason (this didn't worked yesterday too). Put it between dear and raed like "dear_raed".
I began downloading the ISO about an hour ago. It was downloading at a wonderful rate of 365kb/s and I left to eat. Now I come back and see a little 90kb/s. I said to myself "Huh?" and fired up Mozilla on/. to find out this story...
Whew this brings me back good ol memories, I used to play Commander Keen when I was young (5-6 yr. old) on my dad's 486. I think I still have the floppies lying around ! Now that I don't have a DOS env. anymore, anyone actually tried to play the game under FreeDOS/Wine or whatever that I could try on a *nix box ?
Sure, in the control center, accessibility, keyboard shortcuts (I'm not really sure of the names since I use KDE in french). Take a look at this screenshot : http://pemessier.skreel.org/screenshots/keys.png
Thanks 'Newcard' is just the codename. Imagine if it would have been the actual name... the next version of the product would have been called 'Newer Card', the following 'Even newer card' and so on.
As far as I know, you can use the program xkeycaps to change your keyboard layout on *nix. I modified my keyboard layout (french canadian as used in Quebec) to add another dead key (the right Alt key) and I use it to write directly characters such as ãõæåíúñø (just an example). If I'd like to make my scroll lock act as another key, I can do it quite simply.
The difference is, Realplayer is the owner of the realplayer technology, while MS doen't own HTML. HTML sould be platform-independant, while Realplayer may be (According to Real.com wishes) application dependant.
And I just downloaded the 4 ISOs of 4.7 yesterday !
But it's not a problem since many people said that it was better for me to stick with 4.7 and then switch to 5.1 or 5.2. Not a problem too since I'M on cable and I downloaded theses ISOs at 300+ kb/s:)
I don't think so, here's why : I wanted to use Qt because I am learning C++, thus I wanted to program C++ apps. I already looked at Java but for some reason I don't like it, but that's my opinion..
Geez, I feel that QT is a *real* nice toolkit, but (as a student) I don't have that money to buy a license, only to mess around with applications I could compile on Linux and Win (and Mac but I don't have a Mac so heh...). I could develop with the free/X11 for sure, but I couldn't compile them on Windows. I guess I have to look for something else hmmm...
I don't know all the details on the license bundled for this package, but I saw a boxed version of QT on Trolltech's website the other day :
http://www.trolltech.com/products/box.html
The page says "The Qt 3.0 box is offered in addition to the Qt license purchase for $149". Not sure, but it seems that you can use it on Linux/Win. Anyone know more about that, especially the license (can you write non-GPL apps (LGPL, BSD, closed, etc.) ?
That reminds me, what's the actual purpose of spam ? "'Trying'" (saw the quotes?:) ) to make some money or just pissing off the users ? IMO the last one is true, for me at least. Getting spam from a compagny remains me to stop using it.
I am considering myself using FreeBSD on my computer as desktop OS. I am using Mandrake 9.0 right now. After using Linux for a while now, I found that:
- Linux is a real nice OS; - The *nix system is great (never used *nix before); - I don't want to have any other MS product, thank you; - RPMs are making me sick (deps); - apt-get is really nice, but Debian packages are always outdated (no, I don't want to run Debian unstable..); - A bit of standartization would be nice (install dirs, etc.). If you install something not for your distrib, it will more likely fail; - Linux community is great; - I want to get some latest packages (ie. KDE) instead of compiling them myself;
So my two choices are either: a) find the Linux distribution that meet my needs (Slack? Gentoo? others ? imputs welcome.); b) try FreeBSD because it seems to fit my needs (it even has the nVidia drivers, hmmm:) ).
I'll wait until FreeBSD 5.0 Release will be out and I'll try it.
Link was never down (at least to me). URL is wrong, see my other post in this thread.

Just kiddin', happy birthday RMS !
Mice & chips ?

Since the website seems slashdotted now I've set up a mirror. You can see it there.
Oh, forgot to add : *hides*
Sure look at the photo : http://web.ukonline.co.uk/eric.price/humour2/AIRPO RT.jpg
Imagine the power goes out. When it goes on again, fsck time ! Weee, here we go for a couple of hours :)

Here we go for the toaster ! (Well... kinda...)

Seems that Java might not be Sun's cup of tea anymore... err...

Why can't they redesign it ? Because Bush wants money go to War instead of Science. This is illogical indeed.
And imagine if Bush still feels stupid and still will go to war, that will hold on the space program for sure too.

Any others comments on FreeBSD on desktop ?
Anyone could explain me why some people like you are alyaws saying that "BSD is dead" ? I just can't understand...
