    Well, mines an aerobic instrictor who likes using mp3s to put songs in an order that matches the class compaird to the hassel with tapes wich takes hrs and hrs just to make one.

    So yes, my mother would be a bit peaved. She's also a school teacher, and I don't know a single teacher that likes the current copyrights.

    Also, tell them that they are no longer able to backup said media. How many people do you know had cars stole as well as 50+ cds (1k right there). If they do as I do, only carry copies in the car, they could have lost 5$ not $1000, and this is that part that the insurance companies don't cover.

    I have boycotted such things, and I am sure others have. How many others have started boycotting things? If so what?

    Also, getting the "warez" version isn;t the solution either.

    I forget the exacts of this, but I learned in my business law class there there is a 30day warranty on all products. Its called merchindies warranty or something. basicaly, its there so you can be f-ed over by bad advertising or product.

    And yes, this applies to software as well. They just don't admit it.

    The problem being when it it considered mine and when is it theirs.

    Like at work, if I mess with "my" system to make it more usabled, or if I buy software/hardware and mess with it so I can use it unrestricted on linux.

    Not sure if anyone else already mentioned this, but it's a good point.

    We need to form sites with more than ms bashing and howtos. This would be a really good for showing what we, the open source cominity, is about.

    Even more, it would be smart for say, Red Hat, to develpo such a system. Offer some of it for free, such as portscanning/version checking, but offer more in a pay service, automatic upgrades withc prompts, offer other solutions, programs that run in cron to automaticaly test the system, check compoments vs Red Hats database (file size, version, bug info, etc).

    I hate to be off topic here, but 95 is hardly qualified to act as server. Do this with NT, and thing will be drasticly better.

    But yes, HP's JetDirect is godsend.

    I think its leagle to make a copy digital - anolog - digtial(like copying off radio or tv, or taping a live concert), its ileagle for digital - digital.

    While you would lose a little bit of quality (as you would converting them to ogg or mp3 anyways) you would have a leagle copy that can be passed on to other people.

    IE 3 sucked so hard
    Frame support?
    Animated giff support?
    Java or javascript support?
    Plugin support?

    The only thing that ie3 had was that it was free, it came with the os, idiots who don't know what a web browser is, used it.

    IE4 was leaps and bounds better than ie 3, and better in some aspects than NS 4.x (one big downfall for ie 4+ was it's intergration of your desktop, another are the IE only code it brought, and lastly it still lacks frame support)

    And no, I don't use NS, I use opera, and worth every penny.

    party true, but I think os/2 is the far supporior OS for that time piriod and the vew years before. running doom2 in a window (see the full screen scaled down) and heritic side by side on a 486 with 12 megs or ram both going at the same time. God, I wish IBM did soemthing with that os.

    While your comment is funny . .
    There is also a difference in anonymous and privacy. One of the differences is that one is protected by the consitution, while the other isn't. Also, anonymous is a two edge sword, its a shame that privacy gets anonymous attached to it so fequently.

    Its eletrical properties are very vaulable and would provide much more use being used as such rather than womens jewerly.

    No more alum contacts or copper, all gold. Now that is what I want. Speed things up, less heat, etc.

    Basicaly, forgery is a crime. Like if any of those signatures on those letters, for example, the two letters that came from people long since dead?

    Not to mention many addresses was non existant, but if they did contact many people, I'm sure there will be many more cases of forgery at work here.

    I have road runner here, and let me tell you, it sucks hard, cablemodem drops everyday, tech support saying 500 point to get out of the network is good, 100k dl off there own servers is good.

    Now I've had @Home w/ tci in cali, and that was awsome 10 up and down, pure speed, about 20 pint till I get out of the network, and most of the internet is under 150 ping.

    Here in Fiartfax, Va, I get horrible service from road runner cable modem, right now things are the best it ever has beem, but my ping time to the very first hop is 30-60, and its 100+ before it leaves their network, and thats not during prime time.

    games need sub 150, but to be competitive you need to be with in say 50-75 as the people your playing against.

    bandwith and packet loss are anotehr issue, but yet another is the fact some networks basicaly through away UDP packets. . . .

    games that sinc everyone up 200-150 is ok, games where ping matters, >100. And the leet players sub 20's.

    If I was to creat a protocal, and depended on a little banner to make money, I would checksum the banners.

    Thats right, open everything up, just make sure that the banners are present. That should be all that AOL cares about right? We are using there servers, and they want to get paid, rightly so.

    Infact I think something along these lines would increase how many people use aim, while increasing AOLs money.

    Now I am not a fan of AIM at all. I love icq, but 1/2 of the reason I hate is is how it works(limited options). The other half is unique names.

    If they are not planing on salvaging anything, and are so worried about re-entry, why don't they just make the thrusters push itself in a path away from earth?

    They could even use it to gather information as it leaves like any other probe we send out.

    I've heard this many times, and beleave it too. However, just because its happened a few times in the same time frame doesn't mean it will always. Could be 10 years, or it could be 1 year.(in the same term)

    I do agree that what the president says does affect peoples reactions causing problems with in the market.

    There are a lot of factors that cuase good/bad economies and most do not point to the current president.

    Not meaning to flame, but the economy was going down long before clinton was out off office. And even then presidents rarely see the effects of the seeds they sow. (So clintons good econmy was because of bush 1 while bush 2's economy slowdown is because of clinton.)

    The market cycles up and down normaly, ask any seasoned stockbroker.

    Now I haven't read much into it. But if they do both add free with a charge and the banner infested one for free, I think it could work out.

    $30 a year is a bit high for what it does. I think somewhere between 2.50 - 12.00 per year is much more resonable.

    Or have the banner infested one for free, then have one with just one banner for subscibers who pay a very small amount. I never mind 1 banner as long as no women are on it, and its not trying to "trick" people to click on it.

    Cutting over to strickly one or the other will cut out the readers dramaticly.

    300k sounds like the min size for all vbasic .exe programs.

    Its big enough to have musscel, but in this day and age 300k is nothing.

    Word perfect did soemthing like this way back in the day.(5.x days) They ened up getting sued.

    Its been so long, but wha tI do remember is that some organization didn't pay for it and the copy protection wouldn't let them have access to any of there files until they paid. I think it encrypted it or something.

    Anyone remember this?

    This is what we need to see more of. More usless patents go bye bye. Amazons 1 click still needs to go. And there are so many others.

    Just think if people patented/copywrited back when cars 1st came out. Ford wouldn't have been able to reverse engineer the automobile (or fix them for that matter) and never came up with the assembly line.

    Now again, think that if he had patened that idea/technology, where would we be today?
