The performance of the DI 614+ I have is excellent. I have no problem with distance problem. I can get a more than decent connection throughout the house. That's roughly more than 40 foot radius.
By the way, the actual speed of D-Link 614+ and 650+ is 11MBbps with 22Mbps throughput. It is more efficient than the "original" 802.11b
A lot of time, softwares are developed by the Academia and heading straight to the consumer. And those software are usually distributed freely for non-commercial use (sometimes they are free for all).
Apparently the Industry (a.k.a. Micro$oft) want the finding and development to go through the industry first.
BSA would be out of business if no one could ever "pirate" their software. I'm not talking about the companies in the alliance, but the alliance itself in 2002, BSA fiercely campaigned against "piracy" by faxing and sending letters to companies and universities regarding their software license or lack thereof.
What about Intel and Micro$oft? Both of them are pushing for their TCA (Trusted Computing Alliance) platform, wich essentially utilizing DRM.
This move seems to be a bit contradicting their own plan.
IMHO, as it was stated numerously before, they don't want their software/product 100% "pirate-proof"
Well then they can ask the passenger if they want to listen to the radio, then charge them a minimal fee for the royalty. As long as it is REPORTED. or add 1 cent/passenger. That shouldn't be too expensive.
But IMHO, it's ridiculous to impose this ordinance.
Better games (look and feel; gameplay-wise, etc) requires more and more resources over time. Anyone remember PONG? Compare it now to any games made today. PONG is s simple and requires less hardware capability.
Gaming industry is one of the driving forces that PUSH the technology development.
Why would one need the latest and greatest Graphic Card? Mostly for games......
Since WinModem IS so dependent on the CPU processing cycles, so IS the WinWiFi. This means Micro$oft is helping CPU maker in pushing the masses upgrading to more powerful CPU's.
<sarcasm> Finally my 1GHz Pentium III would be obsolete. I have been waiting for the day to upgrade to 6.66 GHz CPU! </sarcasm>

if and when the ISO images of Office is available for download, can someone let me know.
Isn't that the distribution way for Linux OS and apps?
I hope Micro$oft would adopt the distribution method.

How many PS2 Linux Kit would sell here in the US?
It'll be a small percentage of the installed base.
Granted that there'll be people buying PS2 for the Linux Kit, but it'll be really minimal by comparison. Then again, the Linux Kit will shape the future of coming Playstation (PS3, PS4,....PS9).

If this computer were "superior" than human at chess game only, we wouldn't have to worry for a Matrix/Terminator-esque future ahead of us.
