For whatever asanine reason my parents wouldn't let me watch it. But I liked it from the few episodes I saw. I remember reading that the next season, Sauron was to turn and actually side with the humans. That would've been cool
JMS had gone to Paramount first with B5. They told him they were not interested. He then went to Warner Brothers. Paramount then happened to launch a series about a station, including a conquered race that had only recently regained it's freedom, it even had a shapeshifter (a character in JMS' original story design that was later dropped before production).
There was so much similarity that there is little doubt that Paramount is guilty of idea theft.
Actually, I've taken a look back. And even watched it with a now ex-g/f who became enraptured (but not until season 2).
That said, I still find the series terribly more enjoying then the new Prattlestar Galactica. The Stargates are fun, campy but not as deep nor gripping - brain fodder. Farscape was a touch to whacked out from reality. Firefly was superb but not an epic story. Prattlestar Galactica prattles on, giving little bits and pieces of arc to keep you interested but making you droll thru some of the worst crap in sci-fi.
Yes, let's all give Prattlestar the hand(job) it deserves.
On a series where every thread where people have criticized it has said you need to watch it into season 2.
Well you got what you deserved. Go enjoy Prattlestar Galactica. I mean, I've watched 3 seasons and I swear the whole story could be fit into about 3 hours and not have lost much substance. Oh wait, they fit the first two seasons into an hour long episode "The Story So Far".
*lol*
Look, B5 is not your normal sci-fi show where the twists are added at the end. They're in the beginning. But you can't see that until the end.
It's the same reason so many liked the film "The Sixth Sense".
Babylon 5 is not like most sci-fi shows that came before it or even after it. It is not a bunch of daily stand on their own stories. It is one contiguous story.
The reasons fans love it so much is because this is not as clear in the beginning but as you later progress thru the series it becomes more so. As fans discover seemingly innoculous episodes in the first season or two were in fact significant plot preps and more come seasons 3,4, & 5. Seasons 3 & 4 are by far the strongest. 5 was weakened by doubt of financing.
Prattlestar Galactica is one of the few sci-fi series that has really tried to take the epic story arc approach. However, I feel that most of the episodes really lack much substance. Often I walk away feeling like there was only 15 minutes of story. And I am left wondering if the Prattlerstar Galactica writers even know where they are going.
Babylon 5 weaves those layers deep. It doesn't need numerous flashbacks to fill in what wasn't before because it was thought out ahead of time. Even with a few major character changes, things were in place so that alternative flows could be implemented in case of the lost of a major or minor character.
Watch the first two seasons of Babylon 5 (in sequence)...if you have a mind you'll likely find yourself hooked. By season 3 & 4...drooling.
Come on, voting machines really shouldn't be that difficult. The real problem is WHO's building them and who's not.
There is a group of computer/hardware programmers that have an immense amount of experience building machines to interact with human input. In the 80's one of these companies was so successful it became a household name and revolutionized home life. They were called ATARI.
So, I am of the opinion, that Nintendo could manage a much better electronic voting system. Here you go grandma. Just wave the wand toward the candidate you want. When it's on the candidate you want. Hit the yellow button to lock and the green but to cast your vote. The blue button will undo your selection.
3/ we take no action, or even reduce emissions only to discover that most of it is solar based and our sun is going through some transitions and instead of fussing over pollution we should have been working on getting off this little ball of rock...;)
Just like always happens. They use adult stem cells "success", they use the embryonic stem cells "tumors".
Hey, maybe once we have a better handle on and understanding of the much more stable adult stem cells we might be able to utilize embryonic stem cells. But right now, it's like putting a 16 yr old in a F1 race car for their driver lessons.

I love how people tout 85% goes to military. It's far from accurate. Especially if you factor numerous social taxes that are kept distinct (ie: Social security, Medicaid, etc.) And yes those are taxes as many of paying will never see that money.
Once again scienctists show their prevailing ego's and ignorance. Clearly evident in the above statement supposes that MECOs and Blackholes cannot both exist. Rather than leaving open the possibility that although our understanding says they can't...perhaps there is something we don't know or understand yet.
Enterprise - the final season improved by leaps and bounds. In fact, it became some of the most enjoyable Star Trek episodes I'd seen. I think had it not gotten cancelled it would have continued to improve. Of course, the change resulted in the hiring of several new writers and who recognized the importance of "Star Trek" canon to it's fans. And instead of constantly making divergances in the Star Trek history they started focusing on explaining the discrepancies.
Why were the Klingons in the original series different in appearance from those seen later? Set ground work and understanding for "Data". I found myself walking away saying "finally"...but then it got cancelled.
Star Trek needs to fire several quantum torpedoes into Berman & Braga and get some fresh blood in...and blood of those who respect Star Trek and aren't simply focused on the $$$
I have not quite figured out where the BG keeps getting all this acclaim from?
Okay, I was put off by the sex-changes and Singer's desire to castrate all of the original characters and to give us a world without black people. But even putting that aside I find little to lift BG all that high. The show always feels more like a soap opera focus on some shallow drama. All the characters feel extremely flat and 2-dimensional. Ironically, the character I'd say exhibits this the least is the new Starbuck character.
Sure the eye candy is nice. And there are a few plot twists. But most of it seems to be focused on a blatant "known" event...and just delaying it's anticipation. *shrug*
Don't get me wrong...it ain't bad. But it doesn't compare to Babylon 5's intricacies and tapestry weavings nor enjoyability in the slightest.
I actually disagree and think they have some very good potential. IMHO, I think the mini's are designed to address a few of the lose threads and those that had to be tied to quickly when the fear of cancellation occurred.
So I think we may go "aha..." with a few of them.
Now they just need to release Season 2 of Jeremiah
Simple....this is not a case of morality but rather of false advertising.
If I advertised a brand new BMW Z5 for $12,999 and you came to my dealership and found out that I only had Z5 Hotwheels for which I was asking the exhorberent price of $12,999 but I could show you a real nice Chevy Cobalt for $11,999. I'd be guilty of false advertising.
The other day I miss-typed Craigslist.com and found myself at an porn portal. With my wife beside me. Ooops!!! Luckily my wife is net-savvy enough to understand what happened. She commented that had it even been a gay-porn site with a bunch of models all named Craig then she'd think it made sense and was relevant. But it was completely irrelevant.
And that type of behavior should be punishable just like any other false advertising.
If I list $9.99 for a product in an advertisement but then when you get to my store I tell you that it's really $199.99 if you want the batteries and power cord and the motor. That's illegal. Likewise, so should be these false adverts.
So, I presume it's also wrong to modify any code. Hell, we should just chuck out the whole "open source" movement. I mean, making any mod eradicates the artistic intention of the original author.
Yeah....
Taking a movie that may be a fine and intriguing movie but have one small scene and eliminating it is not the end of the world. And if you've already bought the DVD, it should be within your right to NOT view such.
Titanic is a great example for me. The stupid scene in the back of the car cheapened the whole feel of the movie for me. And no, I don't have an issue with a sex scene. But I would have preferred not to have that scene. And if I had a 9 yr old kid. I'd probably like to pass on the scene as well.
No, it wouldn't...because it's really all about control.
In truth, the conglomerate is taking advantage of the anti-christian backlash to gain more territory of control and rights. Just joe-avg is to blind and apathetic to realize it.
I find this a poor decision by the courts. And before all of you retort against censorship being illegal. That refers to "government censorship". Any citizen has the right to censor anything they want to. They also have the right to pay another person to do it for them.
So fuck you hollywood. I think you just create a great market for "censored downloads". I mean, if you're going to make cleaning up a movie for one's children "illegal" (OH MY GOD - TELEVISION has done this for years). Than I guess, if we're already criminals we might as well steal your movies too.
I wish Captain Power was on DVD.
For whatever asanine reason my parents wouldn't let me watch it. But I liked it from the few episodes I saw. I remember reading that the next season, Sauron was to turn and actually side with the humans. That would've been cool

You didn't watch enough episodes.

This alone might make President George W. Bush the greatest U.S. president of modern times.
In fact, I almost did.
I've seen 1080p rear projection TVs for under $2,000 at Circuit City.
