That's when to access the Verizon 2G network, a phone has to be CDMA compatible. For which, they need to have Qualcomm parts.
Given the philosophy of Librem/Purism, where all the source code presumably has to be open, it's a non-starter for Qualcomm. Even if this phone uses Qualcomm chipsets, there's no way Qualcomm will agree to letting its IP be out there for everyone to copy. Otherwise, people in countries like China will copy them left & right, & Qualcomm will have no recourse.

They're not government, but they have more insidious powers. For instance, they're not required to grant access to anybody who wants it, since they're private companies. But in reality, they are the place most people are, so denying people access is a de-facto denial of facilities based on things like their political viewpoint.

Only 13.5% of Android users are currently using Android 7.x.
32.3% are still on Android 6.x.
29.2% are still on Android 5.x.
Even 16% are still on Android 4.4!
Maybe it has to do with a lack of decent Android phones.
Maybe it has to do with users hating the new versions.

Something is seriously fucked up when there are more users on an ancient release like Android 4.x than there are using Android 7.x, which has itself already been out for almost a year.
This should be a good indication to Google that something is really wrong.
They need to release a phone that people will want to buy, and that people will be able to buy, in order to get more users using a more recent version of Android.
It has more to do w/ the difficulty in upgrading. Before 5.x - Lollipop, it was impossible to upgrade b/w major Android versions. From Lollipop onwards, they ostensibly made it so that one could upgrade from 5 to 6 to 7 to 8, but my Verizon Ellipsis 10 is still stuck on 5.1. I'd love to upgrade to 6 or above, so that I can make my 128GB SD card the primary storage. So far, can't do it!
I wish I could upgrade my Verizon Ellipsis 10 from Lollipop to anything - Marshmallow, Nutela or Oreo. I have a 128GB SD card on it, while the internal flash drive is just 16GB & almost full. If I could do this, I could assign the SD card as primary storage, the internal flash as secondary, and just let everything be on the SD card.

What a load of crap. America's manufacturing base is fine and certainly doesn't require rebuilding. America has a HUGE and thriving manufacturing base. By itself it is approximately the size of the GDP of the UK and twice the size of the GDP of Russia. It could be improved but Trump isn't going to be the guy to lead that charge and anyone who didn't realize that in the first 100 days of his administration is an idiot. Improving manufacturing in the US will require careful planning, good policy, and sensible strategy. We aren't going to get any of those as long as Trump sits in the oval office.

If it's being synthetically grown, does it need to include all the fat? Reason meats are alleged to not be good is the excess fat, which is usually removed. In this case, since everything is being built from scratch, rather than nature building up something naturally, wouldn't the producers simply not produce that, as well as any carcinogens or cholesterol?
Any vegan who converted to that from being not just vegetarian, but non vegetarian as well, would. Particularly if the switch was made for ethical reasons i.e. not killing animals. It would be a lot easier to eat this knowing that no animals were harmed in the process

The real problem with Android is how users aren't using the new releases.
