  1. Talk about being deluded, Obama is Saruman on McCain Decries "Hobbits," Accused of Ringbearing · · Score: 1

First I cannot fit the Tea Party into Lord of the Rings, there really isn't a faction they relate too. As for Obama, he is Saruman. When he speaks people fall under a spell which removes them from reality. The Democrats and Republicans are Mordor, they are willing to burn up the American public to hold onto power. This means they refuse to accept the reality that there is a limit to other people's money. They are quite willing to throw Main Street under the wheels in favor of political power - both while in office and without.

The Tea Party is a kick in the nuts to regular politicians. The only problem is that there is no authentic group on the left that also calls out their side for their reckless spending. While I will never be part of the Tea Party they are far better than the Democratic and Republican parties who not only lost their way a long time ago but really don't give a shit about us anymore

  3. Sorry, but we education spending has increased on Gates: Not Much To Show For $5B Spent On Education · · Score: 1

but I will give you a hint, the same problem that exist with the prison system exists for the school systems. The unions.

Unions love three strikes and your out. They love long prison sentences. Just like they love testing without accountability and "tenure" and seniority.

You can go read up on the horrors on California prison and you can read up on the latest big education scandal, the Atlanta Public School cheating problem.

The APS cheating scandal shows exactly what is wrong with the system. They have evidence on nearly 200 teachers and administrators. They asked for resignations. They got, last I heard, less than a dozen. Quite a few are going to hide behind their union (and the union is going to help those who are innocent - which apparently is most of them). All of it comes down to the same thing, the school systems cater to the teachers and administrators. They are not accountable to students or parents. Those are somewhere on the list below the copiers I think.

There are many many good teachers in our systems. Yet we have rules which allow the fail teachers to keep their jobs, we have rules to protect those who cheat. Hell, NYC has rules to protect molesters.

APS spends a third to half more per student than the surrounding suburban counties do for results far far lower than then. So its not a matter of money, its a matter of responsibility.

Testing like NCLB should be done by independent groups where the tests and testing rooms are never occupied by people other than the testing organization and the students. The tests should never be out of their control. There should be NO UNIONS in public education. We already have enough laws to protect from abuses, all the union is doing is protecting the abuse of our children.

So what has gone wrong, simple, we cater to the lowest common denominator and it isn't the students. Schools serve the unions who in turn serve the politicians who use the power of the unions to keep their jobs.

  4. OK, where in the fuck did you come from? on Online Call To Shoot President Ruled Free Speech · · Score: -1, Troll

First off, the explosive growth in the prison industry for many states is because of the unions who backed the three strikes laws in most states, the state most famous for this is California. So we already have someone making a buttload of money off of prisons who are essentially no different than being a for profit.

What should we have called the groups who were mouth foaming gibbering gits when Bush was in office. Based on their protests they make the Tea Party look tame. Hell, even Hollywood joined in by celebrating a Bush assassination movie.

All I can figure is that some people are so blinded by hatred that they fail to see everything they accuse others of has been done before by one side or the other, though in my forty odd years I haven't seen anything to measure up to the Bush years for unhinged people.

Ask yourself, where are those war protesters now? Where are they? So obviously they weren't protesting the war and the resulting deaths, they just were upset it wasn't their guy ordering the deaths.

Tea Party is a threat, its a threat to politics as usual. Its a threat to these assholes in Washington who think spending our children's inheritance is their right. You should be celebrating any group which upsets the norm instead of being lead around like a cow in the fields by your Democratic/Republican masters. Do you moo?

He even sat right behind the exhaust pipe when I started it and acknowledged all he could detect was hot air.

My commute is 26 miles to work, 27 on the way home; yeah its not the same, based on traffic patterns. I track my fuel usage on fueleconomy.gov and my average since June of 2010 has been 41.7. My commute has no interstate, there are some four lane areas but many more 45 and 35 mph two lane country roads past subdivisions and such.

My highest average over the commute in was 51.2, the lowest which only occurs on the way home was 37+. Acceleration is my mileage killer. If I catch every light green I can see some great numbers. Since I do not use an interstate or other limited access road I have alternatives and never get trapped in stop and go.

Another note, I pay the same as premium gasoline. However in two recent run ups in price Diesel stopped increasing in price and I actually saw regular gas cost more. Even when I pay $4 a gallon and regular is at $3.60 I do better than everything short of a Prius for efficiency. Most of the current 40+ crowd I see advertised are lucky to get above the low 30s consistently.

Only improvements I want to cars are regenerative braking and electric propulsion assist. I have two wheels that aren't powered. A small battery pack or something used only at launch would do wonders to overcome the losses I incur when accelerating from a stop. Plus I would not mind some of it back when I am stopping to aid that starting.

If anything it is because it is so uncommon for them to kill a large number of innocent civilians that it gets so much press. The greater good is not always about "spreading peace and democracy" ... the greater good can be also removing the ability of a specific aggressor to continue their ways.

So it is not completely justified to releasing all documents. Some yes, but not all. We read the results of the Afghan dump which revealed sources of intel and such, was that responsible? I think not.

Your openly declaring that there is no reason behind the deaths caused by NATO. I say there is justifiable reason, it all comes down to. Are we protecting a greater good. Yes there are going to be accidental deaths and those are to be regretted. But does the possibility of accidental deaths excuse of from acting to prevent hundreds if not thousands of deaths?

Tell me, when does it become responsible to ignore genocide or mass murder? How many have to die before its not irresponsible for NATO or America to act? I am curious as to the limits. We ignored hundreds of thousands of Africans dieing in the 90s, we do it even to this day for the most part completely glossing over the violence in Sudan and Ethiopia. We seem quite content to ignore the hundreds dieing in Syria and no one bats an eye at what goes on in Lebanon.
