I want the best os to work on, and if the Mac Os X was based off of some of Be's technology, they would be even better off then they are now as far as a good product. I want to see a journaled file system, I want to see work spaces, I want to see every thing that makes Be good, in Os X.

It should be just as easy (if not easier)to put an os X box into a network with windows machines as it would be if it was a linux(pick a flavor) machine.

You will be able to do every fucking thing you want to a mac running mac os X, the guy told me that if you wanted to you could even implement a journaled file system if you have the spare time. He also told me about so people that had gotten X11 running on it with a boot manager so that you could choose what gui to use.
That sounds like you can do alot.
Also by messing with some XML files you can change the enitre look of the os back to the uber goth NeXt step look.
You cannot kill all tasks from the task manager, eg: "This is a critical system process", so you cant kill it. I crash about three times a day. I do web and graphic design.
Lack of really good pervasive preemptive protected memory and multi tasking. This says alot all at once, but thats a better way to sum up most of the problems below.
Shitty tcp/ip stack, eg: when transfering via my switched network, any speed of 1 megabyte a sec will make me have to restart tcp/ip.

Stupid errors where it thinks my hard drive is full when its got 20 gigs free.
I cannot download a file to a different drive with out it first being on my C drive as a temp file (most of the time this is true), so if there isnt any room on C: then your fucked. This can be fixed if you change your temp drive to the drive your saving it to but thats incredibly lame.
The fact that windows uses memory so poorly that it can need a 300 meg swap file even when you have 256 megs of ram.
Its almost entirly impossible to turn off your netbios port from the real world. You can deny access, but it will keep a port listening to say, "Sorry, netbios is closed, but it could be open. Why dont you throw me some unicode characters or dots and slashes?".
The fact that when you boot and get a stop error for some reason(say you swap mobos), you cant do very much to fix it with out a boot disk.
Safe mode, isnt very stable.
The ability to change resolutions when booting normaly. eg: because you swapped monitors and they have different refresh rates or you just cant drive that little 13" to do 1600x1200.
After about two days of uptime (because I leave it alone, so I can use my bebox.) it will become slow and unresponsive, with out any services or processes running during that time.
To top it all off, its shell sucks. I mean Dos has always sucked when compaired to bash or tcsh but in win2k the only good thing you could do with it (boot into the BeOS) is gone.
Enough for me to want to use the BeOS for everything except testing my websites for those that do use IE.

As a webdesigner I have to have another computer around to run a good testing browser with because the beos doesnt have anything except shitty opera.
I personaly love the beos, I bought the pro edition of 5, but I want it to be better in ways that will not happen because they want to liscense out the beia.

I am a DJ and I have ammassed a huge collection of music via ripping my own cds, I have around 90 gigs of goth/industrial/darkwave/noise and if I didnt have it ripped I would have 900 cds or so. That is way too much to carry around, its much better to have it on an external firewire drive and hook it up to a laptop running amp and you have so much music at your fingers its silly. I couldnt play music any other way, cds are a good way to transport the data before you get them to your harddrive. Bands like Velvet Acid Christ even encode older un released albums in mp3 format on their new albums as a dual session cd. This is a great thing, I just hope they use LAME.
And if your wondering how someone could get 20 gigs of music, its easy, its called High School.
There isnt any other good use of time than to bring a laptop and use the schools T3, or to rip classmates cds. Too bad for most people in my area that their taste in music is a bit lacking.

If I had a dollar for every time I wanted to go in and murder all of the football players at my high school, I'd be a rich man. The thing is, I didn't have, like, a support group. I was a loner. I didn't have thirteen people saying, "Yeah. That's a good idea. I think you should do that." I was always an outsider. I never tried to be but that's how it was. I can go to any town and walk into any place and everybody just looks at me. They know I'm not one of them, even if I'm dressed normally. That's been the case my entire life, for whatever reason.

I also dont see any reason at all that they shouldnt be used as a game mod. Perhaps it will create an outlet for people that might want to do it and as a result: they wont. Perhaps it will teach people how to do it right. Perhaps if they werent so mean to each other things wouldnt need to happen like this. How about all the people that have commited suicide because of people like those killed at Columbine? Assholes are all over the planet. Dont forget some of those people wernt the nicest people around. As a nerd and an all around outcast, but still smart one none the less, I see why its not productive to kill them. I have been trying to figure out how to make my OWN ISO image, not download one from you ( I read the FAQ) but I cant figure it out. How can this be done? Do you have instructions somewhere where I can find out how to make a bootable openBSD cd installer? I just hate to use floppys, and even then I cant have all the ports on one floppy. Can anyone help me with this? Its hard to start using a new "Better than the rest" system if you cant even install it. I really have a hard time seeing how openBSD is better than freeBSD if you cant install it easily, and I dont mean click, click, and your done, I mean some good instructions on how to make a cd bootable (what files, un tar this, untar that, ect). I under stand that the cd layout is copyrighted but I find it a pain that I cant install this OS, I really want to try this. FreeBSD isnt that great, on default install it had something like 15 ports open, I know that openBSD wont have that, so clearly if I am going for BSD I should go for the more secure one, right? Can someone help, my poor confused self?

I know you can get your PHD in computer science on ebay, so for that $30 then am I able to be an owner of a.pro? I find the idea of one company running the show like this alot worse than any other way of doing it.

Actually, they are not getting out, but rather farther in. The have created soi chips with speeds of 1gz and they will be called high end g4s. They also are slated to create a 64bit 2ghz chip in about two years. Apple and motorola are just find, ibm better get it together though.
