Now work out the cost of getting it out of the gravity well of that pulsar. I don't even think the Enterprise D could pull it away with a tractor beam.
The next time CdrTaco wakes up, he finds himself "in The Village"
Of course if the rumors are true, and he is really Steve Jobs, then he won't be waking up for a long long time. (Jobs is going into the (cryogenic) freezer with Walt.and they will wake him up when they can cure the cancer.)
I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
I never got excited about watching Aussie Rules, partly because I never understood said rules, and partly because I had no favourite team to watch. Even before the Warriors joined the rugby league scene I could back the Manly Sea Eagles as it usually had plenty of Kiwis in the team. I am a fan of motor sport, as long as its not on an oval track. Before I left NZ I always watched "the Great Race' live. Although it has changed its sponsors and name throughout the years, the Mt Panorama circuit is still the best saloon car course in the world.
That they found stromatolites ? Previously thought to be the oldest fossils.. I remember seeing them on various Discovery/NatGeo shows (and probably the original Cosmos, and Attenborough documentaries.
Some artists have different ideas about that. In the days of vinyl and also cassette tapes, a song could be around 22 and a half minutes. (and an album would be divided into 2 parts, (eg Hergest Ridge) or a double album could be 4 parts (Incantations)
Then CD's came along and a 'song' could be up to 74 minutes (something to do with one of Beethovens symphonies)
I don't have any songs that long, but I do have one nearly an hour long (Amarok)
So I don't mind paying just under $10 per hour of music as long as I can move it to other devices, and listen to it as many times as I want. But I won't pay to just 'rent' music.
I have heard of a theory that the big flood was when the Mediterranean broke through and flowed into the Black Sea (which was at the time a freshwater lake) There is plenty of evidence that that happened around 5600 BC. To the people of the area it would have seemed like a Global Flood
Just about every (major) motion picture these days is either a remake (of a film or TV series) or an adaptaion of a book, or and adaptation of a comic (thats comic book in amaerican).
Then of course there are reenactments of historical events, or semi historical legends (like The Bible and ancient greeks) I hear they are making a movie about Seal Team Six. I quess the main difference will be that Osama Bin Laden shoots first.
The UK includes Scotland, some parts of which are fairly remote.
Don't forget that its not just 'as the crow flies' distance, but also topography. The UK includes hills and mountains which tend to block higher frequency wireless transmissions. Its not all flat like parts of the USA.
I used to watch a British drama/comedy about a Scottish policeman on a small island. It was called Hamish Macbeth and starred Robert Carlyle. He was last seen on a show that was set in the most remote location (SGU)
In my native country, Road User Charges have been around for a long time, for commercial vehicles and for alternate fuel powered private vehicles. For private cars it was just based on the odometer. For heavy vehicles it was based on hub-odometer (a semi would have two of them, one on the truck and one on the trailer).
So why do you need the complication of GPS?

North Dakota: Flood alert

What is Area 51, Alex?
Polarize the hull plating
at least til we invent shield technology
we could also reconfigure the main deflector dish.
Sorry, an unlimited speed limit is not possible. You can't exceed the speed of light.
There is no other inhabitable planet within reach. Its not like we could knock it out of the solar system altogether
Why not put a solar panel on the back of the cellphone, where its not going to interfere with the display and to charge it you flip it on its back.

In (pre soviet) Russia, Comet shoots down YOU!
Yeah, they might invent new theories (relativity, atomic energy etc) and then we would really be in the shit.

So no chance of all the add-ons working then.
I'll stick to the previous version
If there is no dark matter, then what is on the dark side of the moon?

a regular shower (rain, a little hail) and some thunder.
And the forecast is for mostly cloudy, so I don't think I will be seeing any meteors
'The Event'" on NBC last year
Because its cheaper
