I think it was first mentioned in the book 2010 that Jupiter may have a core of diamond, nd later in the book 2061 an astronomer finds a piece of it (after Jupiter is blown up into a star by the monolith) on Europa. So it would not be surprising to find diamond at the core of other gas giants. But so what, we could make diamond here on earth for less energy cost than digging it out of a gas giant and bringing it back to earth.
If its been sitting out in sub-zero temperatures for a long time then it is a good idea to have it start and warm up for a few minutes before driving it away. Of course you can do that when you get to the car, and spend those few minutes scraping the snow and ice off it. For colder temperatures a sump heater is a good idea, some employers do make power available for their night shift staff for this reason.
The trick is to start out high enough that you build up enough speed before hitting the dense atmosphere. The speed of sound decreases as the air gets thinner too.
I didn't think there were that many DC10's flying these days, they had a bad image because of a spate of accidents (although most were not the fault of the aircraft, nothing could survive a head on with Mt Erebus )
Standing up too long is also bad for you - especialy for your feet. But what is even worse for you is being unemployed (so you don't have to sit at a desk or work in a factory type job all day (or other shift)) since you then can't afford health insurance etc.
"Electric bicycles have been around for more than a century, but they have never quite captured the imagination of auto-obsessed Americans. "
That may be due to the fact that in america we have this phenomena called weather. 2 wheeled vehicles don't work so well on ice and snow covered streets, and -30 degree wind chills are not pleasent when riding.
Batteries don't work as well at 20 below either, people have trouble starting their cars. I would think that a bicycle with a battery that is parked outside won't go very far. At least a hybrid car has the gas engine to warm it up.
Good luck on getting FAA certification, and permission to fly one of those in US airspace. And I'm pretty sure its not legal for a private jet to go over mach 1
I am sure there are other ways of determining the racial and socio-economic make up of an area, before buying a home there. Like talking to the neibours of the property you are interested in.
I am sure that there are people that live ecven further away from stores like Walmart, K-Mart, and Target than I do and may go to town i.e. a big city like Fargo) only once a month.
The postman brings me my Netflix movies (and Amazon purchases too)
Walmart is over 5 miles away - I don't walk that far even in summer. K-Mart is within walking distance (half an hour) in summer, but it is winter now. Its upwind, and its nearly -40 wind chill outside.
But then theres the shipping time. Unless you want to pay extra for overnight or 2 day shipping. If you want free super saver shipping, you can wait 10 days or so. Netflix is 2 days. So its only 20 days difference.
Given that they thought it might hit on the next pass (if it came close enough for the earths gravity to affect it this time) thrn i think that it should be easy for a robot to thrw up some rocks at the right time on the next pass and have them land on earth. (Bonus points if you can land them on somebody you don't like (Korea, Iran...)
I had a shell account in 1994. I lived out in the provinces, not in the main cities. It may have been possible to get on the internet in Akl, Chch and Wgtn in 1990 (dial-up of course, ADSL was available only since the late 90's (with low traffic caps.)
Anyway I don't know why the law is '3 strikes' since they don't (widely) play baseball in NZ - Cricket is the summer sport.

be compatible with my existing MP3 player(s)

In the book, the action takes place near saturn, and the moon Japetus. The film stops at the Jovian system and Europa.
Reading the book after seeing the film is just as confusing as without reading the book..
Probably after Dec 21, 2012
When theres a heap of good SF books that (with the aid of modern CGI) could be put on screen.
or an armoured engineer vehicle, or an anti-mine vehicle . Happened a lot in WWII.
[Back on topic] I will just stay with the last version of 3.5.x or maybe swith to Seamonkey.

Venus atmosphere is CO2 and SO2 with a lot of sulphuric acid. If you want to breathe ammonia try the gas giants.

Didn't they use a different calendar 400 years ago?

"it's true that much of MN's coal-based energy comes from ND"
Big Stone is in SD. I think they get their coal from Montana. I know the Hoot Lake plant does.

Are you slowly moving south on the ice sheet/glacier?
I only live at 46.3 degrees north, and it just now got up to 0F for the first time in 3 days.)
In a claim for 'worlds fastest' the maximum speed is relevant. (as long as its timed both ways.)
Does the battery cost more than the house? Given the cost of laptop batteries that use Li-ion I would think so.
Most of that stuff isn't done by a doctor anyway. An LPN will check your weight, height, blood pressure, heartrate, and so on.
