yes! i started in gentoo linux because a friend recommended it
the more or less manual install, coupled with the very good documentation and guides, helped me grow acustomed to linux more than I had by just using it through shell accounts or on friend's boxes
the full immersion that comes with its install is a learning experience that can't be beat, and when help is needed there are docs, forums, and irc -- and let me say the irc (imo) is one of the best ways to learn... although a moment ago #gentoo had 1013 people, channels like #gentoo-laptop (since I have a laptop) are excellent resources
'chances are' ? not quite... at least for me using latest 'stable'
i'd like to see support for msn pics, like amsn i don't keep up with the drama that is gaim so i don't know if they are planning on implimenting it or not
i remember in high school we had a telescope that some students pointed at the sun, and it melted the eyepiece. it was a newtonian reflector, but i forget the diameter of the mirror
after that we played with the solar filter to look at sunspots, and even made one out of a sheet of the mylar-like material - it was a pretty cool diy project
regarding the ravine: are you saying that marty (after they saved clara) should have instantly known it was not clayton ravine? and when the delorean comes rolling across the bridge on the tracks in movie 3, it's called eastwood ravine...
hover conversion -- he was going to the present after the hover conversion, so a flying car may just be a bit out of the ordinary (but... not a flying train?:) but the 'hover gear' is the tires / wheel conversion stuff and the big engine on the back that blows out coolant or something in the first movie (i never quite understood that)
... exceed the bus capability for anything on the consumer market right now...
'right now' yes, but the GeForce 6800 Ultra has peak bandwidth transmissions rates of 6.4 GB/s.
And every movie ever made in moments? Well, I know that I have about 40 dvd's, 40 * 9.4 = 376 GB, so I guess about an hour to download that collection... which is hardly every movie ever made. Assuming you meant at the 'best' quality you can find... I'm sure every divx encoding of every movie would still be a bit larger than 'moments' worth of downloading at 6.25 GB/s
a large portion of newer phones already have it, and send the data of where you are with each call (or just 911 calls, most have an option for how you want to enable it). the motorola 120e has this for example
break out your wireless sniffers, clone mac's or crack wep... with all of the people in a stadium you'd probably find a lot of weak packets... so even if they start charging for it some will probably find a way around it
wasn't there something quite a while back about "trans-neptonian objects" not qualifying as planets, but that the organization that determines such things stated that pluto/charon would get included, but anything else was out?
--nodeps (-O short option)
Merge specified packages, but don't merge any dependencies.
Note that the build may fail if deps aren't satisfied.

I've also been using gentoo for a while now, and reading the documentation (as with anything else) can stop misconceptions from happening, and make the experience better all around
don't think too hard:) being an avid seti@home user, workunits are different sizes, my current one is 356,327 bytes on one computer and 366,719 bytes on another.
qbasic was a quick hop from the commodore c-64's basic (or even the trs-80's basic) both of which were very smiliar... the commodore's manual was a programming reference for me... at 9 a read through the book playing with the computer over the summer... syntax took a week and the functions and loops were easy enough about 2 weeks after that... it's all about interest and amount of time put forth
EROS, that's a governmental organization called the Earth Resources Observation System. I actually live near it... wouldn't the acronym for this "Extremely Reliable Operating System" have to change?
heh, nice
is it really a choice if it's preinstalled though? more like apathy enough to not change it...
you realize you can have colder ice... so that idea isn't the best one ... but I can't think of a better one
apparently not all good stuff
duplication of not only documents for classes by audio/video stuff (or anything really) that professors want - copies of cygwin
our computer club uses it for linux cds when we do install fests
(just an addendum to the one above)
really, REALLY crazy!
(a friend sent me that a while back, joking about 802.11b wireless heh)
you've heard of the mono project? (consequently 2 posts prior to this one)

you can also prune (emerge -P) to remove all but the latest versions of packages

since i haven't rtfa, (/me gets out random nytimes account page), i don't know if it's really intentional or not

the folks at google could invent a -spam option, so those searching for 'diode wave guide' wouldn't have to put -dildo, but just include a -spam

oh, so sorry, we can't take your US greenback, even though it is real, it's just too old -- try keeping customers with that mentra
not to shadow too much on humanity ...
but most people ARE stupid
don't like to think, lazy, want slapstick comedy
those things have their place, but it's too prevalent imo
(to the guy up there a ways: crisis)

we already have "biotech"
it's called genetically engineered corn
If I remember correctly, Latin is still very much spoken and alive in the Vatican. In traditional Catholic worship services, among other things.
