  1. Another possible solution.... on End Bonuses For Bankers · · Score: 1

We could allways force them to walk down the streets, it is rather easy, just fill the streets around the banks with spikes, so they can not go in and out in their lioms, then, hit them with rotten eggs. It may not fix the problem, but I would volunteer to help. I'm sure will be lots of fun!

We would still be in the middle ages (And the church would control the world)

Lazy people will not ever again need to turn the temperature control when going out or coming home. One more step in increasing laziness and reducing intellect in our society. Add to that rubbish like McDonalds and frozen dinners so you don’t need to think what to eat and progress into the next millennia has given a huge step forward! This is equivalent to having an automatic gear box in your car. Those were designed initially to give freedom to drive to the disabled and today every intellectually challenged person that has problems synchronising the acts of pressing the clutch pedal and moving the gear stick wants one. I guess one day soon we will no longer appreciate the real beauty of life. The sound of a violin will disappear because nobody will bother to slide the left hand while pushing and pulling the bow with the right one! That is why people go to restaurants, because they are to lazy to cook and they go to brothels because they are too lazy to be creative and court a woman. Civilization is really coming to an end one silly invention at a time!

I'll believe it when I see it. There are lots of users that still want to keep total control over their data. Think about doctors, lawyers, accountants, stock brokers just to name a few. Also companies that are in research and development will feel uneasy about having their data stored somewhere else. And even if the data is stored in your local machine but handled by a networked application, still being controled by a third party. Well, code reuse is neither good nor bad, it all depends on the quality of the code you are going to reuse. In the case of Micro$oft, since the code in IE is not all that good, the idea of reusing is is not something to be taken seriously. Also, IE is a browser. I can hardly think that a browser can provide some of the "core functionality" of an operating system. At least in serious operating systems, core functionality does not relate to bells, whistles nor appearances. When someone that develops serious operating systems refers to “core functionality” is generally speaking a reference to the robustness and efficiency of the operating system and modules of importance like networking, not to a lame GUI.

Housing, almost irrelevant, there is no need to build houses because every body able person should be invading another country. Urban Development are you joking? The results are favorable to Microsoft, so there will be a ton of skepticism, investigation, and outright dismissal.

Yep. Mostly because Microsoft has a history of purchasing favourable "findings" from "independent" "research" firms.

However, when studies favorable to this particular community's ideologies are announced, none of that occurs, even though the same kinds of skepticism can and should be applied.

Kind of. The process and parameters should always be checked. But the other browsers do not have a history of their parent companies purchasing favourable "findings".

It's called "learning from experience". There is no reason to forget every past instance when evaluating a new instance. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Well, you also need to consider that if we are talking about internet explorer we must be talking about an operating system that is poorly designed so it need serious protection. Basically microsoft has build a boat full of holes (I believe they callis something like MS-Windows) and they pnly produce software for that environment. Now, if you are going to run a browser like Firefox, konqueror, opera or chrome under a proper operating system, that wouldn't be necesary.... Just a thought....
