You have no idea what you are talking about. FIRST of all I am not mindlessly hating corporations. I am complaining about the PRACTICE of domain squatting that almost every single corporation does. This is wrong.
Maybe if you learned to READ and UNDERSTAND you would see what I am talking about. If you think I am wrong, point me to a few big corporation that does not push its way around on the internet by buying every domain name they can, threatening to sue anyone that tries to oppose them, and doing anything they damn well please because they think they are untouchable. Show me a few, I'm sure you can point at least a few out.
For the record, I do not hate corporations, I think they have their purpose but any corporation that thinks they are above the law is wrong.
I know you are troll but people's stupid ass comments like yours are pointless, go back to the Yahoo chats where you can be with more kiddies like yourself. Grow up.
Corporations that merely exist go bankrupt very fast.
I think it funny as hell. Companies should know that it is only a matter of time before people start pushing back at them. Corporations think they can do anything they please and they cannot. Domain squatting by corporations is horrible, they eat up everything they can get their hands on including names that have nothing to do with them, mis spelled names, its pathetic.
Finally a Corporation is getting a taste of its own medicine. I hope he wins, it will be send a message to corporations that they cannot bully people around and not expect people to get pissed.
I was running windows 2000 server. after like a week, it froze. I reset it and it would not boot. Just a error on load. No matter what I tried in safe mode it wouldnt work. It my first exp with 2000 and i had it just to see if it was any good, nope. sad. I switched to linux and i had about 3 months uptime until we lost power, i wasnt home and the ups ran out. 3 months lost b/c of crap california power. Oh well.
Oh man. Too bad just had to reset my win 2000 workstation. It had a record breaking 8 DAYS uptime. I was hoping to see how long it would last with good thourough use.
Absolutley. Windows XP is going to be an even bigger flop than 2000 was. Napster had some 70 Million plus users. The fact that these people had at least the know how to and understanding of MP3 files to realize how cool they are. Who is MS targetting with XP? Servers...No. Regular users who at least have a clue...No. Power users...No. The only people left are those who dont know a lot about computers and are just getting into them. I guess. But this group gets smaller and smaller daily. Soon, MS wont have anyone left to buy their OS's. I mean Gamers dont use ME, they use 98SE which came out more than 2 years ago. Linux and the BSD's are gaining the server market, and the power user market.
The best thing about computers is the freedom to do anything you please with them. Building copyrights into the OS will quickly make people turn to something else. Microsoft's days are being quickly numbered.
Actually NWN is being developed on NT in OpenGL. In the discussion they ruled out DirectX from the begining because they wanted it to run on more than MS.
OpenGL assures there will be no differences in the different OS'es and they will be compatible in network play. The main reason to develop for linux is they needed STABLE servers since there is no central server. Plus it would suck making a huge world that crashes all the time becuase Windows sucks as a server.
NWN will rule when it comes out, I've seen it in action and it rules. A few more months and it will be ready to roll.
I agree with you on that one. I mean a 5kb contest of what? It doesnt make sense really. The only reason I knew what it was, was reading the slashdot posts. At least they could put a About link, or What the Hell is this site about? link. I love my iBook. I use it to run Linux!
why dont parents teach their kids about porn? easy, because they are uncomfortable with it, so what is easier. Have someone else filter it out. Next we'll start filtering books that deal with death and murder becuase its easier than talking to your kids about it. Hell why dont we just lock them up in a basement until they are 18 because its easier than discussing things with them.
I got into linux with Red Hat. The installation was easy although learning it was a bitch. I took me a while to get it and I can say recently that I am getting at least adequate. I downloaded Mandrake 7.2 a few weeks back and whoa. The installation was simple. The setup was simple and system administration is a snap. Dont get me wrong I like the command line NOW. But to learn graphically, at least the concepts and the ideas is awesome. It makes it so much easier using linuxconf and drakconf than using command line arguments on other distros. I believe Mandrake will dominate the Desktop market while Red Hat goes after the server market.
Here is the thing. Microsoft doesnt have to worry about Linux for the time being. The reason is that Linux is an operaing system + apps etc. One thing that Linux companies need to do is start consolidating to become a more effective way to promote ( which lacks the most ). Mandrake Single User Basic installation is a step in the right direction. It sets up a single user, and doesnt really offer many options during install. It is perfect for someone to get into Linux. Add a simple linux book and they are set. I currently use Progeny RC2 which is also a simple graphical installation and basic setup. Linux will one day be a strong force and will dominate MS. Patiance will pay off in the end. As the kernel and the apps slowly evolve and become less bug free, when the Linux craze hits, and it will, it will be huge. Red Hat will go after the server market as they do now. The desktop market I think will go to Mandrake. Although the coolest part is, no matter which distro you buy ( consumers right now dont know WHICH one to buy ) each distro will run the application.
I remember using Windows 3.0 on a 386, 5 years later, Windows 95 comes out, and recently Windows 2000. Give the linux companies a few years and soon software companies will start developing for every OSout there because they will lose money if they do not.
The Telcos dont have any claims to you talking to people. Plus there is no way for them to tell what is being sent over their lines unless they start filtering packets, which wouldnt go over too well.
I own a GeForce2 GTSII with 64 MB of DDR RAM. What is the incentive of my going out and buying at $500+ video card?...None. The current one is just fine and will be just fine for a while. The price of video cards is insane, for $500 you could get AMD 1 Ghz, MB, 256 MB RAM, Case and HD plus some other stuff easy. This card shouldnt catch on quick becuase there isnt any software to take full advantage of it. I think the only people that will buy this card are those that want to stay "cutting-edge" and have too much money. I think ill wait till the GeForce4 comes out becuase it looks as though the software section has a while to catch up.
Would you agree that it would be inappropriate for anyone to tell this joke to a young child?
I Agree that telling that joke to a child is inappropriate.
And don't give me any crap about "parents need to monitor" their kids, etc, etc. Any kid can walk into WalMart and buy a portable FM radio for $5-10.
True, but if you have a good relatioship with your kids, and have taught them well, you dont need to worry about them sneaking behind your back. You do, but not to that great of an extent as kids will do as kids have always done. Here is the thing. I think 18 is too arbitrary when considering adult hood. I think that some people who are 13 are capable of making reasonable descisions and understand a lot more than people give them credit for. There are also 19 year old kids who have not matured enough to be considered an adult. The point is that it is up to the parents to make sure and pay attention to when they think their kids are ready for certain things. Going by the magic number 18 is not right.
We shouldnt conform to the lowest common denominator. There are channels on TV and on the Radio that are geared to the conservative folks that might be offended by some music, commentary etc. There are also TV stations that do the same. I say if you are offended by MTV, DONT watch it.
Your comment about the 8 year old girl is out of context. We are talking about media to person broadcasting. You are talking about person to person. There is nothing to prevent anyone from going up to a child and saying that. With the media we have to power to selectivley block what we watch.
What is the point of govt trying to censor things? Decent and Indecent is not something that I want decided for me by a bunch of burocrats that dont have a clue about me. I am intelligent to decide what I want to watch and what I dont.
I will concede the point that filtering in Public Libraries becuase of kids, etc. I know that people will bitch and whine and complain until that happens.
I say let the individual decide what they want to see and what they dont. Individual freedoms are what make this country great. I know people will say we need to protect our kids, etc, why dont you WATCH your kids and PAY ATTENTION to them and then maybe you wont have to install that piece of software that your kid can crack anyway.
I Agree 100% with you on giving drungs away. Set up places for people to use drugs and give them all the drugs they want. While on the drugs, they cannot leave. Let them OD and die. If people want to screw up their bodies in that way, let them, I'll feel no pity when they die. Hearing about car accidents becuase someone was high on coke and they plowed into an innocent person and killed them, that pisses me off.
No GUN EDUCATION is important. I learned how to shoot a gun when I was 10 years old. I was also taught that guns are not toys. I was also taught that killing people is bad. These kids today arent TAUGHT these things. Thats the problem and no amount of government control will fix that. Start teaching kids and start educating them about guns.
Still the cost to put these things in place would be huge.
Can I not put a gun in a backpack? No camera can see in the backpack. Why dont we put this money to good use and maybe pay a little more attention to our kids and their problems. A CAMERA wont prevent some kid shooting up his school.
First the United States is HUGE compared to England. 300 Million spent in England would be how much. US land area = 9,365,290 mi^2. UK land area = 94,247 mi^2. Infoplease
The US is almost 100 times bigger. So if the same % of cameras were placed in the US it would equal 300 * 100 = 30 Billion or 30,000 Million. I know UK billion and millions are different. I know the obvious comeback will bet that the US is not as densly populated so Let's be generous HALF of 30 Billion is STILL 15 Billion dollars. Try gettin that through Congress and watch them laugh at you.
The only problem still is local areas installing the cameras but those will get sued and be in the courts for years. We here in the US can relax a little for now.
I was sorta joking, but when i posted it, the story was up for maybe 5 mins, i mean for it to go down that fast its probably more than bandwidth related. It was also trying to be a joke too.
Your mindset is one of a bigot
