    I tried to give it a fair chance, but then i found that it had no unsigned data type... I'll stick to C++, where we got real types and real templates. (none of that fake stuff java/C# does)

    The question was to determine X, which can be any real number, both positive and negative. We only know that sin(X) is between -1 and 1, which allows for any X.

    The parent is absolutely correct, the GPL license takes precedence. Whatever contract Daimaou made with the company does not trumph the GPL.

    But what happens with the code that has been released? He thought he own the copyright but didn't (his company does). Can the company demand distribution of "their" code stop, since its distribution was not sanctioned by them? Or is it forever GPL'ed? Ofcourse this would be clear if the guy blatantly stole the code, but this case seems kinda grey to me.

    Anyway, he is screwed and liable, and the company can't nullifiy the GPL for other peoples code.

    You assume the bandwidth would cost AOL. They already have the equipment up and running, their media servers would be located inside their own networks, so no need to pay for bandwidth usage...

    If you RTFA, you'd notice they were suggesting they'd use the *number* of atoms of a certain type as the definition of KG. The Avogadro constant is currently defined based on the gram, but they are not suggesting that the constant is used, only the technique.

    Ahh... yes: "Because i know a few women in IT, it must mean that women can be equally good/attracted to the fields as men."

    Because you have a few samples of one kind does not mean it is a general rule. My impressions, being a student at an university where i spend alot of time in the comp.lab. The majority, both men and women, are bad at coding.

    What is interesting, is the ratio of male/female coders with good skills. It is clear (to me) that they are mostly men. Until women start coding for fun, not just eductation/profix, this won't change. Let me know when the AUTHORS files of your favorit OSS programs get a 50/50 ratio of women.

    You forget that it isn't just the parents that shape the person. It doesn't matter how good your parents raise you as long as you're going through hell at school etc.

    When a kid grows up to be a murderer it's usually something that triggered it.

    It's a good argument but you leave a gaping hole. What restrictions is there to this "due process of law" that can order people to wear a GPS tracker (or face jail)? What timespans does it permit?

    Stalk a woman and you end up wearing a GPS tracker for the rest of your life? Well, some would say it's a good thing. What kind of crimes would trigger this law? You stole an iPod, so now you're tagged for life.

    I've always found the man pages to be excellent. (Though i wish i had learned about apropos earlier;)

    They are not meant as complete newbie introduction to , but rather as a reminder or dense description of something. It's invaluable when you need some information on how certain library calls work, commands and similar.
