Almost all programs downloaded off the internet can be installed via the browser on Windows. When my download has finished I just click a few times on the file in the download links area bottom left of my Chrome window, and the EXE runs to setup the software.
heck I think I even installed Office that way after getting the home use program and downloading it from Microsoft.
used to be you would simply 'run' the file immediately before downloading, though that seems to have been given a bit more sensibility to let your AV scan the downloaded file first now.
Remains to be seen if this chipset is ok for intense gaming at 1080p, however I'd assume it won't be terrible at casual 1080p gaming if it's already fluid at 2560x1600.
Exciting times.
Last night I ordered one of these 'Android stick' devices, it was about $60. Pretty sure I can afford to replace that every year and keep increasing capability of that casual mini console.
I assumed this was some form of spam/scam so did not participate. If it doesn't slam me in the face everytime I login I'll ignore it - my personal filters obviously work a little too well...
It's different when you're a part owner of a strata title property (block of units). I need written permission from the body corporate to have certain keys cut, as they open a number of doors in the complex.
Nokia was loosing market share, but up until the 'burning platforms' memo from Elop was increasing both numbers of smartphones sold and the margin made on each phone:
Quarter 3 2010 Symbian based Nokia smartphone sales: 26.5 M units and 3.6 B Euros revenues;
Nokia smartphone Average Sales Price 136 Euros, profits in smarpthone unit 335 M Euros
Quarter 4 2010 Symbian based Nokia smarpthone sales: 28.3 M units (+7%) and 4.4 B Euros revenues (+22%);
Nokia smartphone Average Sales Price 155 Euros (+14%), profits in smarpthone unit 548 M Euros (+63%)
The only area where they were lacking was that smartphone shipments were increasing faster than Nokia was increasing sales, so they were losing market share - in every other metric they were doing great.
I also couldn't see a controller, but one of the reviews points out that it supports 2.4GHz mice and keyboards - but not bluetooth. Linked to http://dx.com/s/rii
hopefully that product can update to support additional codecs too.
Apple has not made much of an impact with us in the >10k seat space - we've piloted a couple dozen device only under extreme pressure from executive level, and they're being deprecated once our iPad replacement (yes it's a Win7 tablet or slate) is ready to rollout late this year.
I'm not sure how much support we may end up providing for iPhones (currently none) - the Blackberries will need replacing soon, but no idea what with yet - could be WP7.8 or WP8...
The Samsung Windows 7 tablet comes with a Core i5 CPU. That's plenty of horsepower for the kinds of things people do on tablets and still nobody is buying them. For a business user, it should be a no-brainer to pick one of these over the iPad, but that isn't happening.
We are getting back-end infrastructure in place for migration from XP to Win7. Win7 tablets will be a standard device offering, but we have only purchased enough for proof of concept at this stage. I'd imagine there are many large companies/organisations that may be at around the same migration stage, which would indicate more of them being sold as Win7 migrations ramp up.
No it's not. Why would I pick one of those over any other laptop on the market? What does that tablet get me over a regular laptop? Further, what Windows applications are designed with touch as a first-class input option?
It's still a tablet, which is what seems to impress certain (types of) people. Not having one (yet), I'd like to think that I can get a lighter and more compact overall package to lug around than my current laptop (not sure about plugging in all those peripherals though). Also - as a full blown Win7 device it should enable proper management as per other corporate devices, reducing the need to support another OS into the bargain. No point talking about touch though, nothing happening there until Metro
Everything other than your first statement is fine, however it seems that Nokia's Symbian smartphones sales (not market share) were still increasing even with the iPhone on the market - right up until Elop issued his 'burning platforms' statement. This blog has a ton of interesting facts and opinions on Nokia.

Your internet may be 'always on', but you still need those D3 servers to be available and hope their random massive lag spikes (1000-2000ms I saw for a few minutes a few days ago) don't make the game unplayable.
Those large maintenance windows every week are pretty annoying, especially when you're in a time zone where it's prime gaming time...
Anecdote here - I have bought all the Diablo games and expansions, and have clocked up only 2-3 hours of multiplayer D3 so far (~5%). Diablo 2 battle.net was probably about the same over the *entire life* of the game.
D1 and D2 multiplayer LAN was popular at times, but single player is where I spend the majority of my time. I play at my own pace which is not really a multiplayer experience.
Unfortunately it seems that the maintenance window for D3 coincides highly with the only real weeknight when I can play D3, consequently I'm pretty annoyed that I've been unable to connect at these times - unfortunately I still wanted my Diablo fix so have ended up reinstalling D2:LoD and resurrecting my old characters...
XP is some 10 years old, so many drivers will be missing - try Windows 7 next time as a comparison to recent Linux installs. I think the only driver I've updated vs. the inbuilt driver is for my discrete graphics card; even there I'm (eventually) prompted about updating when a new version comes out.
Yes it takes a while to install, but nothing sticks in my mind as being difficult or unweildy.
As someone that spends several million aussie taxpayer dollars a year on software - the majority from companies from the US - I would find it highly advantageous to have software prices fluctuate based on exchange rates.
If you're looking for somewhere to cut costs out of IT (or help us be more productive) then you should support this inquiry.
Submit a high level brief explaining the underlying technology, then add a possible solution where your company arranges to have legislation implemented in every country to ensure performing this act is a criminal offense, plus presuade every web browser developer/manufacturer to disable this functionality in their tools - maybe via large ca$h injections.
Highly infeasible, but not 100% impossible.
I guess after your manager reads the underlying sarcasm you may need to be looking for another job though...
I had my Sony 19" Trinitron fail 7 days out of warranty, Sony agreed to pay for the repair if I would drop off the monitor to their authorised servicer and pick it up again.
Repair cost was projected at around $400 otherwise, on a monitor that cost some $1800 delivered.
Seems warranty policies have been tightened a lot since then.
Do you work at an advertising agency? Or for a political party? O, maybe Diebold or some other electronic voting machine company?
You are already biased by advertising, cultural upbringing and environment. Remove factual information so that your 'decisions' are based on gut instinct flavoured by your upbringing, yep that's the way to make a good choice.
Maybe you should look into amnesia so that you're not biased by any learnings from previous mistakes - that way you can continue making those same 'true decisions' in blissful ignorance.
I've used an iPhone 3G to write an entire resume plus cover letter for a job application, which was painful in that I had to save and close those docs to open the PDF of the job application from an email. I'd imagine that would be much easier now with the advanced hardware and multi-tasking in the 4/4S. Add to that the ~$800 in roaming charges I incurred by doing this while overseas (Japan yay) and it was a bit frustrating. Got an interview out of it - plus a job offer - so wasn't too bad.
I'll treat software more like disposable office tools when the cost per month for our enterprise class applications are comparible. Get back to me when you've been able to drop prices by a factor of anywhere between 10 and 1000 times.
As a tourist to Hawaii a little over a year ago, I received a pat-down from the TSA on my return trip home (gloves and back of the hand, no groping).
I had specifically worn clothing (non baggy t-shirt & shorts, flip-flops) to make it easy to see that I had nothing to hide. Still invasive.
There's some places I'd like to visit in the US, but the TSA has definitely put me off returning - other countries in Asia-Pacific will see my tourist dollars this year.
heck I think I even installed Office that way after getting the home use program and downloading it from Microsoft.

Pigs are omnivorous and they eat all kind of stuff. We still eat them.
I eat my beef steaks rare, but pork is always cooked through. Significant difference in the treatment of the meat.
unless they want to steal guns...which has apparently already happened to people on the list

He missed the critical word 'simultaneous'. There's an entire product dedicated to this 'Terminal Services'.
Well, at least this was easier to read than your last post on this topic; reading Rule 110 made my brain explode.

Does this mean G+ might finally get some activity ? :)

tl,dr: yes it would work for many situations.
