I have a 2.9Kw solar, so let me explain how this works.
My bet is that this device does not switch on and off real fast, nor does it modify it's out put much.
And for most systems, like the solar, that produce DC, you need an AC converter. The most efficient ones take the "heartbeat" of the grid to time themselves and makes sure you are not out of sync with the grid power.
That means while you are using.5 or 1Kw steady, you are pumping power out to the grid, running the meter backwards.
When it comes time for a peak surge, you draw from the grid to provide the peak.
So my solar that puts out 22 to 26KW a day during the peak months of May to September roughly half that energy goes back on the grid, I pull some back for peak usage, and pull the rest back at night.
The GRID is my battery, and it is better than free, I get 3.2c credit for producing at peak and pulling at night.
I own a sushi, a santuku (chefs), a deba (cleaver) and a pairing knife. All for about 15 years. Long before "santuko" knives were all the rage.
They take care to use and maintain. Cutting acidic foods means an immediate cleaning or use the "wedding gift" set. Especially onions.... I will coat the iron blade in oil before I start and it will still flash rust.
But, you can damn near shave with any of them, except the deba, but it will cut a frozen chicken... Trade offs
The deba will cut though raw bones with ease, and will even cut a prime rib bone if cooked. Butternut squash is short work as well.
This design is from Alton Brown's Good Eats episode in 2007, minus the PID. I am sure it has been around longer tho, it is a cool hack. Alton is a good example of a food geek, he obsesses over everything.
Works a treat, especially if you have access to free hardwood.
Run a flextube, I use an aluminium cold air intake hose from the auto store, from the top of the first one to a second unit and you will have a cold smoker too.
Cheese, nuts, smoked salts, homemade sausage... Cold smoking is awesome.
Don't normally respond to cowards, but the author did say he was trying to do backups using "hardlink parallel-backup", which is so much gobbledygook as to make it clear they don't understand UNIX past the "I am dangerous" level.
Again, keep searching, find a package that can do 90% of what you want.
Hardlinks don't span storage devices. They are files that share the same inodes on single storage device. Soft links do, but they are pointers to the inode, so "backup" using softlinks and you have a bunch of pointers to data that is on the original system. NOT on the thumb drive!
Use one of the backup packages out there, you are not at the point of rolling your own.
Oh you work for them, yes you do.
*Cue the Black Helicopters*
Patch Tuesday was last week.
Yes, but not regarding terrorism.
Again, the Slashdot summary reads like the other removed items were terrorism related, and they were not.
Summary and original article imply APCO is a government agency.
It is not.

Just 22?
We can safely ignore them then.
I mean, if 22 prestigious non-AGW scientists made such a bold statement, it would not even be reported.
How will the birds evolve to adapt to their new cat copter overlords?
Is this how the Angry Birds develop?
Yes, but you have a lesson plan, why are you streaming it?
Should be loaded locally before hand, not JIT.

Most sites will throttle data to a single user anyway.
It is useful for torrents and other aggregated downloads, but not from a single site usage.
Your concept of "huge" is lacking.
It is twice the size of the Continental US
You are going to need a bigger boat....
Or breathing.
Heck, the water vapor from your skin is going to fuck up that 100% pure oxygen atmosphere...
I will geek out about knives:

Use that.
Oh dear.

Not even close.
Proof 2012 is end of the world... Judges making technically savvy rulings.
I am going to wait for DDR11, man.
Prehaps they should start on the troll gene next.
No, wait... Slashdot would collapse.
At least it is not a case of transubstantiation...
Christ that could get ugly.
When do we get Slig?
Everyone claims to be a sensible moderate if asked.
Everyone else is a stark raving loon.
Well, yeah, they did not want to miss the latest episode of Dowton Abbey, now did they?
Greece will race right to the 2 bit tax.
And if you put any American in Muslim garb, they would look Muslim.
Except texans, the hat under the burqua would be a dead giveaway.
