Do you mean one of the Air Hogs planes? You can get a non-HD Air Hog plane for around $50 at Wally-World. I know 'cause I seen me do it. I've been thinking about getting the new Parrot but they apparently shipped it missing quite a few advertised features. Waiting to see if they've addressed everything with the new software.
When I think SETI, I think of searching for radio signals. If that's changed, they need to put some effort into telling people what new methods they're using. Because their website still talks about signal processing and detecting alien technology. We now know that untargetted radio signals are not going to bridge the gaps between stars. The distance is just too great. We'll never pick up the Alpha Centauri version of I Love Lucy. So why is SETI still focused on trying to pick up alien radio signals?
Really? Really? Swipe-to-unlock is amazing innovation that should be used as a club to hobble the competition? Entering data for a search query is another, along with processing that request and returning the results. Those are the kinds of things we're talking about here. Not concepts or innovations that have years of R&D behind them.
When are we going to get some goddamn patent reform???
This is like Chevy suing Toyota because people would buy more Chevy cars if Toyota wasn't selling a similar product. "They use a wheel and foot pedals to control their vehicles. We use a wheel and foot pedals. That's our thing!"
Ya know what? Fuck Apple. Fuck them right in their stupid asses. I was seriously considering making the switch back when they get an LTE iphone (paying full retail to retain my unlimited data plan and an ETF), and pick up a retina MacBook and iPad because they're freakin' gorgeous displays and it will be a year or more before anything like that hits the Android/Windows market and I'd have everything under one roof and this sentence is really long. But if this is how Apple chooses to "compete", fuck 'em. I'll wait for less litigious companies to catch up.
And that's what makes this so damn stupid. The competition is a year or more behind apple in just about everything (except data speed on phones). First to market with a consumer-friendly smartphone. First to market with a retina display smartphone. First to market with a high res tablet. First to market with a high res laptop. It's not enough for Apple to be the first up the mountain, they've got to hang their asses over the edge and shit on everyone below them.
Your provider still filters even though you turned it off. There are multiple levels of filtering at major providers with the most basic filtering happening before it hits the controls to which you have access. They're filtering out viruses, mail from known spam sources, etc. before it goes through any heuristic analysis, white/black lists, customer preferences, etc. The last big provider I worked with called the first level of filtering "the gateway filter".
You may think you're raw-dogging it but the only way to do that for sure is to run your own mail server.
Not enough. I've seen properly produced printed content on The New iPad(tm) and it's like I'm holding a [slightly small] magazine page in my hand. Highly detailed images, razor sharp text. I've been hearing about 2560x1600 10.1" displays from Samsung for over a year and 11.6" for about half a year. 1920x1080 is a real let-down for Android after seeing The New iPad(tm).
The ownership of anything you do during your work hours would be in question (at best). Most likely, if you're in IT, you've signed something that says anything you create while on the clock belongs to your employer and there would be no question at all. They're paying you to do the work they provide. If they can't keep you busy and you don't want to be paid to sit on your ass, find an employer that can keep you engaged.
If you insist on doing personal stuff during work hours, at least be smart enough to do it on your own equipment. You can get a brand new craptop for under $300. Frys has 7 15" laptops between $249.99 and $299.99.
I compared Sony to a beautiful but abusive ex a few years ago. You swear you'll never talk to her again but a year goes by and you run into her at the mall and she's looking hot. Dinner seems safe enough. Public place and all. One thing leads to another...
Someone pointed out that/.ers don't know what it's like to have a hot ex and I should stick to car analogies.
I've sworn off Sony a couple of times but then they put out a product with the perfect mix of features and price so I make an exception "just this one time".
Let me make this quick: Generally, as technology improves and the customer base grows, the cost-per-customer of delivering service decreases.
With Verizon, the faster you can move data to your devices, the less of it you're allowed to move and prices keep going up. Unlimited data didn't start out at $30, it started out at $15. And I don't know where you got $60/month for a gig of data. There's no reason to make things up. Verizon's a la carte pricing for data on smartphones is $30 for 2 gigs, $50 for 5 gigs, $80 for 10 gigs.
Reminds me of a time many years ago when I had a run of people come to me with amazingly dumb problems. "I can't log into my computer" translated to "Press the power button." "My printer isn't working" = "Turn it on." "My printer isn't working" = "Plug it in then turn it on." "My printer isn't working" = "Put paper in it." (Lots of printer problems.)
This went on for a couple weeks, word got around, and good laughs were had all around. One day a guy came to me with, "I swear it should be working. It's plugged in and it's turned on but it's totally dead. I've got an actual, genuine problem for ya." "Okay, I'll be over in a couple minutes." He met me in the hall saying, "Nevermind. It's working now. Nothing to see here. No need to look at it." Eventually, he told me the power strip wasn't plugged in.
Not much different than Firewire. Sony didn't help things by branding it iLink on their computers. And others called it 1394. I think that crap really killed the interface on the PC platform because Joe User didn't understand that it was all the same thing. Firewire was far superior to USB with its lower protocol overhead and reserved bandwidth.
Yes, putting all your eggs in one basket means that if that basket fails, you lose all your eggs. But it also makes it easy to buy just one, really nice basket that won't break and lose your eggs.
That's a great analogy until someone throws a weasel in your well-crafted basket.
What does this translate to in jiggawatts?
I remember playing Doom on 3 monitors (using 3 computers, of course). Also multi-player, always waiting for the 386 to finish loading the level.
Duh. Microwaves are strictly for drying dogs. Everyone knows not to put metal in the microwave.
Yeah, because this place is the target market for $400,000 items.

I'm looking at you, Microsoft and NASA.
Unless this thing rides nuclear explosions, it should have its own name.

I'm sure there were plenty of absurd lawsuits over obvious "innovation". That doesn't make them right or reasonable.

I didn't know about the HMZT1 until yesterday. [sigh]
[Sulu]Oh, my.[/Sulu]
Sony store opens at 10am...
Damn you, Sony! I've been able to hold out for over a year.
I compared Sony to a beautiful but abusive ex a few years ago. You swear you'll never talk to her again but a year goes by and you run into her at the mall and she's looking hot. Dinner seems safe enough. Public place and all. One thing leads to another...

Come on. That's like punching the kid in the helmet.
Like Joe Sixpack has the slightest clue what an Inuit looks like.

$50 for 1 gigabyte of data?!? That's insane!
You don't love your mother. If you loved her, it wouldn't matter how much it costs to make her happy.
They're expensive because people will find a way to pay for them. Don't try to make it more complicated than it is.

I read that as Space Pot. Once again slightly confused, then disappointed by the actual issue.
