It is more likely that they will have a Steam compatible specification for Linux distros. If a Linux distros want to be compatible with Steam, they have to follow the specification. Steam will probably work closely with at least one distro in the beginning (probably Ubuntu) to make sure that at least one major distro supports the specification.
The same way I would feel if I made a product and Walmart decided not to stock it because they wanted their own generic version of the product of on the shelf along side the other five competing products already on the shelf. There is limited space on the first page of any web search. Because they run and pay for the site, they have the right to decide the criteria by which that limited space is used on their search.
I would hardly call Google putting their services closer to the top as unfair. Besides, what keeps Google from "paying" themselves to put their services in the sponsored links.
The problem is that these days someone who can't mind their own business will accuse you of neglect and endangerment and attempt to have your kids taken away.
I am just wondering what ever happened to having a predetermined place to go in the event you get separated. Just pick out the tallest structure in the amusement park and tell him that if he can't find an employee for help, go to that structure.
If this happens, I wouldn't be surprised if computer become the interchangeable components of a greater system rather than being the system themselves. In some ways this has already happened.
You can have trusted software sources without a walled garden. In a walled garden, the vendor simply gets to choose the trusted sources instead of you.
I get a little pissed off every time I have to resort to using a mouse. So inefficient for so many things....
A mouse is also more efficient for so many things. I can't tell you how many time I have gotten frustrated with my tablet or phone because I simply cannot do many things quickly and efficiently enough without a mouse and keyboard. Mice and keyboards are not going to disappear from the mainstream until brain-to-computer interfaces become widespread and sufficiently advanced.
Windows 8's problem is that they create a touch screen optimzed interface for a mouse and keyboard environment.
The Kinect really needs to have several orders of magnitude greater resolution than the current system. It should be able to track individual fingers and facial expressions. Right now, it is just frustrating to use.

How so? They have a native Steam client in beta and have started porting their games to Linux.
Guess nobody heard the last time.
I see what you did there.
If their goal was to blow up a bunch of random people, there are much easier targets with a lot more people.
If you want a copy, back it up.
In other words, there is no reason for a lawsuit because the market would balance itself out since Google is not the only game in town.

They only have around a 66% market share.

China has about 30 percent of rare earths deposits but accounts for more than 90 percent of production.
It sounds like we should consider mining from the other 70 percent.
With all the rounded corners involved, it would take too long.
Why not? It requires very little intelligence to walk towards a landmark. Besides, would it be better to have no plan?

I think he is counting on the kid wanting the phone more than he wants to track his kid.

What happens if Microsoft stops making service packs for future OSes?
FYI, it is still easier to install a single update especially if you do it on a regular basic.

... have one of these.
It's speech recognition also sucks. I have to say "Xbox play!" at least six times before it does anything.

What does that come out to when you factor in inflation?
Sometimes I wonder if they understand what a trillion dollars is when you consider how much debt the country is in.
