According to the article, they use positioning information to generate additional bits of information. My question is how do they determine position at large distances when both bodies are obviously not standing still. The only thing I can think of is having one constant laser being used as a position reference for all communication lasers. Of course, they still have to be able to hold the laser on the detector array.
Perhaps we should start using sensor data as a primary means of navigation and windows (which are normally covered) as an emergency backup. There would be redundant sensors so that even if a couple sensors were temporarily blinded the data visuallization could still happen unimpeded. Of course, at that point, maybe we should just automate the planes completely.
The relatively high quality comments/discussion are definitely the reason why I visit Slashdot. I actually find myself irritated when I go to a news site and either find crappy comments or worse, no commenting system at all.
I don't understand why anyone likes the ambiguous time on any website on any feed, I could understand "about 4 minutes ago (Thursday February 06, 2014 @10:09AM)" but I like having exact time on posts.
Unless it is being constantly handled, I doubt it disintegrates faster than you. Also, you have the right to attempt to recoup some of your costs by reselling it when you are done with it. You also have the option of giving it to someone else.
I think the issue is the superchargers being particular to one car manufacturer. If you are on a trip, you want to be able to charge in minutes not hours.
If it includes all TV and runs on all platforms (including Linux), I would definitely subscribe. Heck, I already pay more than that when you combine Netflix, Hulu, and (to a much lesser degree) Amazon Prime. I rarely watch movies. The few I am interested in I tend to go to the threater for.
"In September 2012, Spandow asked for permission to transfer an Oracle employee working in India to California."
They were not talking about paying someone living in India a $50,000 salary. They were planning on transfering the employee from India to California which would have increased the employee's cost of living significantly.
Get participants to voluntarily join your study. Matrix them away. Do a fake study in the VR environment. Make participant think they have been pulled out of the VR environment without actually pulling them out. Do the actual study. Pull the participant out. All your volunteers go home scarred for life never sure if they are in reality or virtual reality.
Computer-controlled cars also have the advantage of digital communication. If a computer-controlled car a few miles up brakes hard or detects black ice, the computer-controlled behind would know without needing line-of-sight.
If I understanding it correctly, in the US, your clearance is deactivated when you leave but can easily be reactivated by another employer with a certain period of time. Otherwise, you have to start the whole original expensive and time-consuming process over.

Would sunglasses be enough?

Is there evidence that we gave everything that he collected?

Plex already supports Chromecast in their premium version. They claim that the feature will eventually released to everyone.

We do? Which part?

Since when does the government shut down a program? They just borrow and print more money and keep adding new programs.
Actually... He does optionally take BitCoins as payment.
Maybe he doesn't want to leave it in his car and he came from or is going somewhere besides his home?
Developers tend to be attracted to interesting projects with a good user base. The more users you have, the more developers you attract.

I am fairly certain that if they fired a guy for saying $50,000 was a too low, they weren't willing to give anything more.

Steve Jobs is going to have a second coming?!

It would still be variable but the function would have two parameters instead of one.
Anyone can create paper money. The trick is to get everyone to use yours.
And then in a big cat and mouse game, all the teenagers move to a different social media site.
