Not a troll - I just don't hide it any more. It's a movie and you are the audience. Quick roll out the cyber tanks I'm literally shitting myself . Critical mass. Bleh.. I don't belong in this shit-hole.
I disagree. You can't expect a person to know and remember everything. Before Google - were you stupid for looking up answers in a book? At the same time, after looking it up, was there even the slightest chance that you would have forgotten it? What you remember is essentially represented, physically, as strong synaptic patterns. These patterns naturally form an understanding of frequently used knowledge - do I have to Google how to ride a bike? It was, at one time, challenging and I had to practice it - but I got there.. if I wanted to further my understanding; looking it up is just the first step. If I forget it it's probably because it wasn't important or the interest to further myself, in that regard, wasn't there. Anything that your brain needs to succeed will most likely become second nature over time.. everything else is nearly completely forgotten. It's still useful to have information on hand because we simply cannot remember everything (or even know it beforehand).
Intelligence is not only the ability to remember things but a mixture of imagination, critical thought, understanding, and knowledge.. amongst other things. Everyone remembers something. It's human nature to take your own path in life - you can't blame a system that throws shit to a wall to see what sticks.. people are people, what you perceive to be dumb dumb or not, they are part of an evolving system.
I cannot really articulate what I want to say very well - I'm really bad at expressing what I want to say. I do understand it though. Surprisingly enough I wouldn't have done if indexed information wasn't at hand.
Yet they forget to mention that only a fast SSD, or a RAID 0 configuration, is capable of receiving/writing files that quickly.
Instead of rolling out ridiculous speeds why don't you roll out better average speeds? 100mb would suffice. Not to forget that at 2Gbps there are very few things that you would download and see a great benefit from the speed - I'm sure people wouldn't mind waiting a few extra seconds for large files..
Well said man. There is always a slant on these stories and most people, including the mere mortals on Slashdot, just don't have the ability to see things from a different perspective - they don't actually understand that what they know is just seen from their own perspective - what they see. NK are surely mental - how a country like that can call itself a republic, or even democratic, is just beyond words of stupidity. The west in general, from one country to the next, we're now all on board with a common foreign policy - and I don't agree with it.
Vote me down - I don't care much for what people think.. they don't do it very often.
I must point out that "dumbfuck" isn't an actual word - it's slang.

I could just call you a sponge cake but the definition would denote that it would be used out of context.
I usually define cracker as someone who 'cracked' a problem; to crack a code or puzzle (to use it generically).
A hacker is someone who modifies the function / flow of code / hardware - to re-purpose something into something else for their own benefit.
To create code that will modify the stack of a program; to alter the hex of a binary is really the domain of a hacker.
To crack something is to really use code to solve a problem - crack a code; perform brute forcing.
There is an overlap when one breaks license protection of software; or designs software to modify a program's stack - to do that you need to both hack and crack.
Most 'hackers' these days will just use code that was written by a real hacker - without hacking anything they essentially crack problems; crack their way into a system without ever modifying code on their own.
Actually no - they are too busy tinkering with something to post videos on YouTube - and not giving themselves ridiculous name like viRuS or bLaCkD34Th
"But there are so many people who idealize these jerks think they are something special."
But I saw it in a film.. they look so cool.. people will think I'm smart and mysterious.
Scientists have been inventing cool shit for years - I'm still on an 8 Mb copper line and no my smart phone doesn't last up to twenty times longer these days (as promised); no it doesn't charge itself from kinetic energy or some photosensitive bacteria either.
"3rd-party GPU drivers that don't work in *every* distribution." - says who? The Linux kernel is just that - the Linux kernel. A distribution is a collection of user-space software packages, software repositories, and a file system structure - nothing else.
What planet do you live on mate?? You do realise that Linux is the number one server platform, it's the number one mobile platform, embedded platform, in all respects, except the desktop, it's the largest platform on the planet. That being said - Windows 8 is digging it's own grave. Windows has progressively gotten worse since Vista, 7 was okay, 8 is just.. meh.. Linux Mint or Ubuntu is actually EASIER to use than Windows - to give an example.. my brother, who has never used a computer in his life, has been happily using Ubuntu for about a year now - no problems.. he actually prefers it to Windows. It only tends to be technophobes that are scared of a headless platform like Ubuntu.
It's Linux - you can do anything you want with it.. I would hazard a guess and put it in the same category as Android in contrast to a proprietary platform.

It's actually easier to take a leaf out of the book of the majority and forgo updating at all; indefinitely.
