Tucows really is the nicest internet company out there today. And there isn't a single /. member who didn't benefit from their download site years ago. Every comment so far has completely missed the part where Tucows is making so much money doing other things it is choosing to provide the download site gratis going forward. I signed up for Ting in 2013 and have been saving $100 mo. on my cell service ever since. As icing on the cake their web site is easy to use, shows me pertinent information and they have actual live people to talk to if you have a problem. Ting was doing Google Fi before Google. They are also doing fiber internet. Google has gotten a lot of good ideas from Tucows. If you are a business in need of creating an internet presence and no clue where to start Tucows is definitely the right place.

When Topolsky and gang ran off to start TheVerge I was intrigued and was there the day they went live. It was clear they had designed their site to be for the blogger by the blogger. I can't say journalist as the content wasn't always of journalistic integrity/quality. I read an article who's entire purpose was to dissect Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe"! The article itself was the author's self musings on his crush on said artist and the comments section was mostly other bloggers complimenting his use of white space and picture placement in the article. Very little substance. Perhaps that's the reason so many media outlets are dying?

I couldn't go to Forbes at work anymore even if I wanted to because they flag our proxy as an ad blocker and won't even let me past the ad banner until I turn the proxy off! You aint wrong there.

This story immediately brought back memories of a migration for a large oilfield company back around ~2K. We were doing background data transfers from user's existing machines to the new ones while they were still using their existing machines. One of the techs gets a call from the guy he's working on at the time and the guy wants to make sure he gets his 976 (anyone remember those?) pron dialers (plural) reinstalled! Another guy is getting frustrated because his data copy is never ending because as he copying the user is downloading pron videos. The tech made the mistake of opening one and was met with a decidedly geriatric individual. Then there was the Indian user who had a drive full of Bollywood pron (women with their faces exposed dancing). That was a fun project...except for every time Documentum destroyed MS Office and required a re-image which was all too frequent.

Of course programmers are going to say LabView is a horrible language because it's a GRAPHICAL programming environment. Its entire purpose for being is to allow scientists and engineers to quickly piece together a control environment for scientific/SCADA type equipment without knowing how to code. All scientists/engineers should be able to do logic and flow charts and as the OP pointed out that's where these "languages" shine. If you need more robust code LabView works with C libraries just fine. I wouldn't want to do a purely software related project with LabView but if I need to trigger an oscilloscope when a certain anomaly occurs and send that data to a function generator it's a lot easier than writing a C program.
