So you mean all these years when I thought I was being healthy and avoiding it... I've been hurting myself? Next you're going to tell me the large amounts of caffeine I don't ingest daily in the form of other beverages is also bad for me... if you'll excuse me though, it's 9:15 and I need to wait up before I get to work... while here at work.
In both states, sexual orientation and identity are added to the protected classes lists (ie covering gays, lesbians, transsexuals, etc)

This just seems too complicated. I enjoy the simplicity of looking in my wallet, and having only a glance of the card I want, pull it out and use it, no need to select any menus or buttons on it, just pull it out, insert, replace.
Agreed! Outlook 2003 is the best Outlook version by far and when put against Evolution and and other mail clients I've tried, I've found that Outlook 2003 does the best job of doing what I want and need in an e-mail client.
Oh? And what makes this a frivolous lawsuit? While you may not agree with it, can you at least for a moment concede that just maybe SCO has a case and that some of their intellectual property was used in an unauthorized way.
Thankfully this case will not be decided by the likes of you in the court of public opinion but will instead be done within the court of law.
It seems that in your mind that you believe a lawsuit is frivolous if you don't agree with it.
I had originally written more to say here, but I decided that if I would say it that I'd be yet again labeled a Microsoft supporter who is anti linux, etc.
To quote the article: "But even if you register a product online, your chances of being notified of updates are slim, even though some fixes are crucial:"
My god! Drug companies are out for cash? I never knew that!
Wait a second... the reason a company is in business is to make money... so you are now condemning drug companies for the very sin that virtually all enterprises in this world are guilty of... chasing the dollar..
I for one welcome our new dollar overlords and hope to acquire plenty of them in the future... until then, I will work for my greedy profit seeking company and help them earn that much more in the hopes that they will reward me for my loyalty and work.
I hope you can detect the sarcasm where present in the above post.
You are quite correct, however the reason that I say it is a common language is it is quite easy for you and I to have a conversation in our native dialect and for the most part we will understand each other. Even with in a country there are different dialects
Ex:
I was in the Virginia a few years back at a McDonalds and asked for a large 'pop', I got a dumb founded look from the server until I realized my 'mistake' and corrected myself and asked for a 'soda'.
While we both speak the same language, there are different nuances of how we say different words, we are still speaking the same fundamental language.
So you're saying that as I am pro MS and not a big Linux fan... that I could kill whoever I wanted to because of my association with Slashdot... no one would ever suspect me?
Despite our common language, many laws are quite different between the US and UK, freedom of speech exists, just not to the same degree as we like to think it does here in the states.
I never thought of my department as a Zoo... but I suppose you might be right, and in that I'm in the same cage as the rest of them, lots of embedded work all the way up to user applications, right now I'm having the pleasure of some not so fun embedded work for a to be announced product.
Sadly the reasoning behind our using C/C++ for most of our applications (ie uses, not programs) has nothing to do with a macho complex but is because for the most part, C/C++ is ubiquitous, you can find a compiler for it for virtually every standard and non standard platform out there.
Arg... this was a joke (from me) you realize? Quoted from this professor... another one of his lines about C/C++ was "C is a WORN language... Write Once, Read Never."
Yes, the article talks about its use with newer versions of Windows (as early as SP2 of XP if I'm not mistaken), I would remind you that this is a Windows centric market right now, when a company like AMD or Intel designs a new processor or function, the first place they talk to about it is Redmond to get OS support in the most wide spread OS. Once that is accomplished, then they can look into secondary markets for support.
I have little doubt that AMD will supply enough info to get this functionality working under Linux around the same time that these chips ship.
I think you are forgetting something though... C and C++ are the most powerful higher level languages that exist today... Why? Because with them... you can easily mess everything up!
Back in college I would defend C/C++ against one of my professors who thought it was the spawn of satan (and oddly though Pascal was/is the greatest language ever) for the simple fact that it gives you the ability to do so many things with few limits.
A hammer cannot only be used to drive in nails or bang a dent out of your car hood... but it can also be used to break your neighbors windows and beat someone to death. Just because a tool CAN be used for ill, doesn't mean the tool is to blame. After all... guns don't kill people... murders/soldiers/hunters/etc do!
Wraaaag! Why does everyone keep calling this a Microsoft bug?
Yes... the vast majority of buffer overflow exploits we read about are Microsoft based, however it's not too hard to find software from other providers, yes, even in Linux. Which can suffer from this kind of flaw.
On the contrary, don't you think the US Mil has battle plans for the invasion and conquering of most of the nations on earth? After all... you never know when an ally might become an enemy.
There is still something to be said for production values around that of a 2nd grade art class.
As I'm guessing you've seen the old the movie... tell me you didn't find the use of technology of the age as a great way to tell the story, such as the asteroids type galactic war.
One of the things which makes the original tv mini series so cool to me was it's cheesiness, I dunno about you, but I for one am rather sick of the uber special effects and action sequences we see in most movies of today... there are times when it's fun to go back and watch a film which was using bargain basement effects and still holds up today.
Nay, I've got one of the earliest revisions of the PCB and picked up my board only a month or two after they were released. I've never once had a problem with it!
I'd also like to say that it's unfortunate that when someone makes a joke on here and the point being that they run Windows and that the world does not revolve around Linux as many fan's of Slashdot seem to think... that such a post gets modded down.

Finally! A voice of reason!

While those items you mentioned may not directly cause the associated problems, they can contribute.

This is nothing but a talking version of the old goat.cx or whatever it was.
Maybe thats why they are killing the program... any military weapon that cannot take out the hulk is not worth our time or money!
It was a joke!
Don't forget C&C Generals! My god! The Allied Choppers in there were my right hand which has not been cut off from me!

Because by your logic, Microsoft has patented the technology behind causing them and in this rare case decided to leave it up to someone else to fix.
On the contrary, don't you think the US Mil has battle plans for the invasion and conquering of most of the nations on earth? After all... you never know when an ally might become an enemy.
