    Unix has become a generic term. Removing trademark status would benefit not only Apple, but the free Unixes, Linux and the BSDs.

    At least the part where you mentioned that the trolls are usually the first to point out changes in slashdot. This is why I'm burning karma on what I feel is an important question. It may be FUD, it may easily be true...I'd like to know which.

    The problem being, due to the nature of trolling, using them as a news source is unreliable at best because of exagerrating and fact twisting.

    However, they are a better source of information than nothing. ['nothing' being the slashdot SOP ]

    Actually, they've proven themselves effectively above the law, as demonstrated by the 'penalty' they faced for the laws that were already used against them.

    A socialist country has state health care, our health care system is generally regarded as being the worst in the western world, mostly due to the LACK of government intervention and funding.

    Ditto for education, wich the neoconservatives are trying to eradacate as fast as they can.

    So, what are traits of a socialist country is it you beleive that we have? Point by point, if you would, starting with a CLEAR definition of what you consider socialist.

    If you can think that much for yourself, that is [unless G Gordon Liddy is due to come on, in which case I can understand that you would bail out of the conversation].

    It may happen rather soon to SCO.

    Actually, assuming that SCO dies [which is not by ANY means certain], it is signifigantly more accurate to say that their legal strategies are more of a dying gasp, instead of saying that their defeat [if they are, in fact, defeated] is a "deathblow".

    In short, if SCO dies, it's because no-one bought their shit, not because they lost in court.

    No. As I said earlier; this is the exception that proves the rule. The usual rule is that corporations have enough size and resources to withstand legal attacks [merited or otherwise].

    The less ethics you have, the larger legal department you have set up.

    it isn't that Yahoo is "spamming up", it's that they've made "address blocking" as a part of their pay package. As a result you get more limited address-blocking capability with the free account, and it's easy to have them cycle through.

    Also, I've noticed that some persistent spammers just get through, period, even with blocking [with no apprent change in the headers, at least none that are obvious]. :-/
