  1. Pay people to do nothing, and more of them will appear. Then your 10% will find themselves carrying a load they do not need. At some point, they're going to quit doing so and then you have Soviet-style collapse. UBI is basically a Ponzi scheme: pay people to do nothing, so they buy our products, so we can keep being wealthy. The only working system would be to remove government from the equation, at which point the good people -- those who work, take care of their families, and so on -- would have to work less, costs would be lower and people could enjoy life more instead of being existentially miserable twats like the average person in Western civilization right now.

  2. PHP-based software is a security sieve on Google Records Over 750,000 'Hijacking' Breaches In One Year (nbcnews.com) · · Score: 0

I can't believe it. It's not like the experts predicted this or anything. But it's easy to code in, so it takes over the market. As usual, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

  3. Diversity still does not work on US Treasury To Feature Harriet Tubman On $20 Bill (reuters.com) · · Score: 1, Troll

The USA has become an ideological state at this point. Throughout human history, diversity has never worked, and in fact has appeared in empires shortly before their demise. This is because diversity is paradoxical: when two or more groups occupy the same space, there can be no cultural standard in common, which means that government must step in with increasing police actions, leading to tyranny. It is why Plato wrote that tyrants always import people from the colonies.

  4. Passive Aggression Is Beneath You on Apple's iTunes Movies and iBooks Stores Mysteriously Go Down In China (appleinsider.com) · · Score: 0

I don't dog whistle: I say what I mean. That is rare in this day and age.

You can read what I think at Amerika and a nihilist website. You will notice nothing is hidden, even the tree hugger and Nietzschean stuff.

You might think you're fighting the grand Leftist fight against 14/88, but I am something far worse: I am 1788, and the return of common sense with a vengeance. You are obsolete. Deal with that however you find best :)

  5. We're All Hippies, Until Money Is Involved on Apple's iTunes Movies and iBooks Stores Mysteriously Go Down In China (appleinsider.com) · · Score: 0, Troll

Apple speaks a good game of pandering to the usual Leftist narrative here in the States. But that is free talk; they say a few things, give away a few iDildos, and their SJW audience fawns.

But when it comes to China, money is on the line. The government -- also Leftist -- is holding the market hostage by demanding that any companies who participate go along with the ideological censorship, which similar to that in the former USSR, prevents criticism of the State and its ideology of Leftism.

If Apple wants to show us that it is a "nice guy" company, it should turn down these China contracts. But in reality, to do so is business suicide. So the partnership between hippies and mass murderers continues much as it did in the 1960s, when Western hippies endorsed the USSR and the Viet Cong despite the nearly 100 million death toll of Communism.

  6. Be paranoid on Why We Should Fear A Cashless World (theguardian.com) · · Score: 5, Insightful

If you give government a power, it will use it -- for its own purposes. Government is a business that makes money for its employees by inventing new ways to control you. Sure, it sounds like guy who lives in a van down by the river talk. The media and the $200k per year professors disagree. But history is clear on this: government serves itself, in the name of your best interests. Be cautious :)

  7. The Traditional view knew this on The Irish Not of Celtic Origin? · · Score: 0

Historically, we have seen that Ireland was settled at successive periods by Palaeolithic survivors from northern Europe by way of Scotland, by Megalithic Atlanto-Mediterraneans, by Dinaric peoples from the eastern Mediterranean who came by way of Spain, by Keltic Iron Age Nordics, and by various groups of Scandinavians, of Normans, and of English. Of these various peoples the one which gave the island its language and the characteristic flavor of its historic culture was the Keltic. Christian Iron Age skeletal remains, from various parts of Ireland, belong predominantly to the Keltic Iron Age type, and are very similar to the skeletal series from sixteenth century London reviewed in the last section.

  8. As usual, the Herd fights a good idea on Microsoft Losing Ground On Windows Store and UWP For Gaming · · Score: -1, Troll

UWP (Universal Windows Platform) allows developers to create experiences that are easily deployed across all Windows 10 devices, from PCs to tablets to phones to Xbox One.

No one likes MSFT's anti-piracy behavior, nor its stodgy and standards-resistant approach to, well, anything, but -- looking at this objectively -- the idea of allowing one development platform across these different devices is an advancement for us all. Yes, let's stop developing for the idiosyncrasies of devices and start using standards like DirectX for what they were designed for: to free us from hardware, and make code that will run in the future without being trapped in the peculiarities of one chip or another.

PC = you cannot notice anything in reality that does not conform to the liberal narrative. In this case, if we were thinking clearly, we would see these tolerance officers as a form of political control designed to destroy the historical majority in the USA.

    As Plato wrote:

And the more detestable his actions are to the citizens the more satellites and the greater devotion in them will he require?

    Certainly.
And who are the devoted band, and where will he procure them?

They will flock to him, he said, of their own accord, if lie pays them.

By the dog! I said, here are more drones, of every sort and from every land.

We all know how the slippery slope works, and we see it on Twitter. Banning actual terrorist groups, then shadowbanning conservatives, now fiddling with hashtags to prevent politically incorrect ideas. Just like Facebook, Twitter has gone down the path of "safe spaces" that will result in the death of all actual interaction, replaced by a Potemkin virtual village of happy idiots discussing inoffensive nonsense and celebrities

  11. More re-arranging of deck chairs on the Titanic on Wikipedia Editors Revolt, Vote "No Confidence" In Newest Board Member (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1, Insightful

They offer symbolic solutions to problems that are too complex for the voters to understand. This requires that they tell lies in order to buy votes. After the election, they do a whole lot of nothing effective because being effective entails risk which is dangerous to their careers. This means that voters are always choosing lies, and this selects for the liars who show up to tell them. Democracy is a failure and always has been.

Let's face it, when you set up a mini-economy based on selling ads, people are going to take advantage of it. Google is paying less per impression because the ads are less effective in actually selling products. That sets up a clickbait economy that rewards the type of spammy products and scams that Google is now trying to filter out. When do we admit the whole thing is a house of cards that's totally over-valued in the market?
