Well, almost all of Western civilization is a testiment to the truth of it. You can keep your glib statements, which is probably the most intelligent rebuttal anyone on/. has ever made against Christianity. Show me the contributions to culture, society, civilization, science and learning associated with Norse mythology and after I put the microscope down, maybe you'll have a little perspective.
I take it you aren't aware of the extensive historical corroboration with the Bible. Regardless of your position on religion, the Bible describes events that happened in history. Naturally, many of the stories are allegorical, but you are being a complete fool to equate it with pure mythology.
That's just as ironic. But I expect no less from the level of discourse around here. Get a clue, learn some history and maybe after you graduate from high school you'll know something.
The firm I work for does video traffic recordings for counts and analysis. For years, we used Sony Real-Time VCRs, which are capable of a super LP mode of 3x EP. After investigating industrial digital video recorders for over a year, my boss found that they are almost always encrypted because they are intended to be tamper-proof for security monitoring, etc, which doesn't help if you want to make a copy of what you recorded, and is a stupid idea regardless, because you have to put an entire recorder in an evidence locker rather than a tape or a hard-disk...
Anyhow, I mentioned the consumer-level devices like the Archos, etc, as a complete stab-in-the-dark suggestion. He picked up a couple and we spent a couple months experimenting and adapting and found that we could use an Archos AV-400 with a couple of those big old lead-acid batteries for literally days of continuous recording. Of course, it's far from broadcast quality, but I'm too lazy to RTFA so I don't know what you need it for. Anyhow, at 512x384, DivX-encoded with a time-stamp character generator patched in, it works nearly perfectly for our use, and saves us the very lengthy step of digitizing a video tape.
The marches, sit-ins, and protests had nothing to do with civil rights gains.
I wouldn't say that. I think the marches served a very important purpose and helped to expedite the process by allowing the masses to make themselves be heard and understand what was going on. The opposition to the Civil Rights Bill (largely from the Democratic party by the way), couldn't stand under the withering public criticism of millions marching in Alabama, Mississippi, Washington D.C. and elsewhere. This wasn't going to go away, and the marches and speeches made that clear.
You can't say MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech didn't inspire millions... not that most people in the civil rights movement these days would be caught dead actually going by his words of "judging people on the content of their character", but that's another story.
However, today it's much different. In the age of ubiquitous media and flash mobs and blogs and who knows what else, just gathering a big crowd seems kinda pointless (s/seems/is). I mean every other month there's a million-this-march or a million-that-march, they hardly make the news any more (not to mention the fact that maybe 500 people show up).
To make a different in this day and age, you need to DO something.
My god carries a hammer. Your god died nailed to a tree. Any questions?
Your God is the star of a comic book. My God created the Universe.
What happened to the days when a country's movements were so offensive that people would march?
Because most of these protests are empty gestures that affect nothing.
Gathering up in a big group to do something pointless like sit around and chant doesn't achieve as much as well-written letters to your representatives in government. Any dolt can join a march and shout "Hell, no, we're not slow." or something else that is inane, but rhymes, but a well-written letter shows there is a brain behind the stance. But of course, letters don't make the nightly news and don't offer that fleeting chance of 15 seconds of fame.
Same here. The last thing I need is the app flashing information in front of my eyes every time it thinks I need it. Even if I were to turn it on, it would only be useful about 1 out of 50 times that it would pop up, who needs all that visual noise while trying to code. I can type thank you very much, and unlike Microsoft, I give my classes and methods consistent and logical names so I don't have to look everything up all the time.
Not so much a cliche but a persistent fault...

I have found that in games with spells (particularly ones based on D&D) that invariably you will have a wide variety of spells with all kinds of neat effects, and just as invariably, the only ones that you will ever have a use for are the single best offensive spell and the healing spell.
I've seen this in more games than I can count. Although the latest game I've been playing is Warlords Battlecry III and in it, the balance of spells are a bit more useful than usual.
If you prepare a precision algorythm and carefully test it before coding with all manner of valid and absurd inputs, then it shouldn't matter what level of so called skill a programmer has when the coding proceeds.
It's real simple. A "cheap" programmer might take a month to do this. A good programmer might take a week. An exceptional programmer might do it in a day.
There is literally that much difference in productivity there is among programmers. Just because you can eventually get the right answer doesn't make you good. Timeliness counts too.
Even more important is flexibility to adapt to changing requirements mid-stream. A good programmer will be able to do this. A not-good programmer will have to redo much more... even if both of them can deliver a working product.
You mean have an interface like early 1980's IBM software with an organization like the Soviet buraeaucracy?
I can't speak about what it could "do", but it is the worst, bar none, UI of any application I've ever used or seen. There are Visual Basic 3.0 apps written by 10-year-olds that are better designed.
My hatred of Lotus Notes, from being forced to use it at two different jobs, knows no bounds. And I jump at any opportunity to flame on it I can. Mod appropriately.
Hey, man. In the age of global terror, any animal could be packing a few ounces of plastique. Left to his own devices, Bambi might take out a subway station.
The Government is all-wise and all-just. The Government loves you. The Government allowed you to be created so you could know It and to love It. The Government will always care for you. Thus, the Government knows how best to spend your money.
The Government is your Friend. The Government would never do anything to harm you. The Government only harms people who are its enemies. The Government does this because the Government loves its enemies, but the Government must correct its enemies.
As an adopted child of the Government, you must realize that everything the Government does is on your behalf and in your best interest. How could it be differently?
Questioning the Government is something enemies do. If you insist on questioning the wisdom, motives and truth of the Government, you will be considered an enemy too. Only enemies could doubt the True Justice that is the Government's alone. Questioning the Government leads to independent thought, freedom, creativity and democracy, all of which are evil and will corrupt the morals of our Perfect Society.

Ironically, incandescent light bulbs are 90% efficient as heaters...
Oh, get real. I know who you are talking about. But, I stand by my statement.
Comic book, Norse mythology. Either way, they're stories. Good stories, but just stories.

Nope, no questions here.

Just my 2 cents.
Pharmaprix? Pharmaprix?
Do they specialize in Cialis or something?
Or is it the French pronunciation "Farm-a-pree"?

So in other words, it's "Freedom of Speech" as long as I only say what you agree with.
Fascist.
I've used Windows for 15 years and DOS for about 7 before that. I have heard it. It was definitely from before you used Windows.
it cost too much for what it did.

Well, you'll excuse a little hyperbole, but reading Biblical admonitions against homosexuality now counts as "hate speech".
Canada is legislating themselves into a very scary place. With all the problems we have here in the U.S. I'd still rather be here than up north.
It could be worse... Canada jails people for practicing religion.
Yes, that seems much more cromulent.
You've got a point, but I used to chat with great locquatiousness back in the 80's too. I've never been at a loss for words.
:-)
I remember when 1200 baud was cool. I found I could read at 600, maybe 900, but not 1200.
Email is for old people, because old people are willing to communicate with more than 4 characters of text.
My experience with IM, chat, etc, is that most people type really, really slowly and can't think of anything interesting to say in real time.
Hey, man. In the age of global terror, any animal could be packing a few ounces of plastique. Left to his own devices, Bambi might take out a subway station.
That's dangerous enough for me.
How about in a sanctioned boxing match?
Or killing dangerous or tasty animals?

Hey, cut 'im some slack... He's working 90-hour weeks, so he just spells them all the same to save time.
I am pretty sure that Family Guy is pioneering the "Direct-To-DVD" concept.
Yeah, plagiarizing Homer Simpson jokes at heretofore unprecedented efficiency.
Well, it created the country of Israel, but that's not such a popular thing is it?
