For us the reasons to go virtual (since 2006 iirc), in no particular order - reduce power usage and cooling - less hardware to manage - more efficient use of hardware - faster deployment of new servers - separation of applications (mainly a problem on Windows, applications simply don't co-exist in an nice way on the same server)
We're not a major player by any standards but we now have 10 hosts running a total of 380 vm:s. Lot's of room for more vm:s in there still but it's designed for redundancy, 5 of the hosts can fail and all vm:s can still be kept running on the remaining hosts.
I can't be bothered to check bugtraq right now, but isn't oo and abiword susceptible to the malformed files as well? Granted, not as badly as ms word but there still was something funny going on with the shoddy files iirc.

With Nintendo it's not about the graphics and it's not about the specs at all. That's Sony and Microsoft's territory and I don't think Nintendo has ever claimed to challenge that particular turf. Fun, ease of use and games are - to me - what Nintendo stands for.

Very few of the people I've met had any real experience or insight into what they'd trained for and reveived the cert for. In a real life situation most were painfully clueless. This includes the people with training/instructor certs - if it was outside the book they were helpless.
I do not hold any certs, nor will I throw money at getting any. For me, coming from amigaos to the current linux/freebsd/win[Nt4/2k/xp/2k3/flavor-of-the-day] environment I work in today has been great, as things I pick up from one will help me understand the other and so on. I have to agree with you on this - training is good to help fill the gaps of knowledge - but it cannot beat hands-on experience and "learning of the fly".
Things might be quite different with a bit of truth in advertising, like a sticker on the box which reads "Router WG602 - Now With Even More Backdoors!"

It's actually better to keep your torso warm. The draining of blood and heat from your hands and feet happens when your core temperature starts dropping. This is done to protect the vital organs, heart, liver etc over the non-vital, hands, feet. If you can keep your core temperature normal you can actually work without gloves even below zero (celsius). This because the body is warm and needn't cut the heatloss from hands or feet. There was a good documentary on the Discovery channel about the very subject not long ago. So, while heatpumping gloves seem nice, I'd go with keeping my body warm and be rid of any gloves hindering my hands.
Prior art would be DNS and SMTP, mayhaps?? Can't be bothered to dig up some RFC's right now but both are way older than when the patent was filed.

Get some good wintertires, with studs. I have a pair of Nokian Extreme 296 at winter, and it's more or less like riding in the summer. (Minus the heat of course) After a couple a rides you'll be taking corners like nothing and if you do fall there's usually a lot of snow to break the fall.
I'm one of those lucky enough to have access to a shower at work, so I try to bike to work as often as possible.
Have to say that the best workouts are usually in the winter as opposed to blistering heat in the summer... We get down to -15 to -20 celsius outdoors where I live. Man, you have to put on some serious clothing to make it the 9 miles to work. Add to that some 10 to 20cm of snow (before it's plowed off the street) and I'm usually sweating quite heavily after 5 mins. Summerheat is like a paradise compared to the winters. Mmmmh.
I keep a full change of clothes at work, and always ride in bike clothes. You can't find anything more uncomfortable and restricting to movements than biking in regular apparel.
Keeping to the main subject, the road I take to work has three good climbs so just riding to work and watching the diet has kept me in pretty good shape for the last two years. I'm just starting to take up on training seriously and racing again. Been too busy at work for the last few years so I had to give up racing. Bleh.

Maybe Microsoft should re-code Outlook so that the incoming-email-handling-and-viewing code runs in some sort of Java-style untrusted sandbox mode.
That'd be good, but it could be simpler. Just recode it to refuse to start if run by root/admin or drop to a user account immediatly on startup.

As for vmware it's been rocksolid for me. I run it on my slackware box with a w2k workstation and a w2k server as guest sessions.
Can't say anything for virtual pc though, as it doesn't run on linux.. meh.
But if you got the $$ and want to run linux as host o/s I certainly recommend vmware.
